Crazy to think we're finished Volume 7 and creeping ever closer to the story's end. I honestly love your excitement for both Pei Ming and Qi Rong making entrances 😂 Especially the former with how much you did not care for him with what we knew about him in Season 1 of the donghua. Pei Ming getting the stereotypical princess rescue really made me a staunch Pei Ming/Yushi Huang shipper 🤣 Only Pei Ming is *not* a Disney princess so he ends up more like a bedraggled cat than unrealistically beautiful with just a swish back of his hair. It's the Enemies to Lovers we need (considering they were enemies when they were both mortals). When first reading this I had to pause at the presence of "another Hua Cheng" 'cause my brain immediately went into "if this was a FanFic..." mode 😂 And then even when it was revealed about who the other Hua Cheng actually was, my brain couldn't let go of the fact that if He Xuan can create so many autonomous clones then perhaps Hua Cheng can do the same; all to worship their gege 🤭 Though once again Mo Xiang Tong Xiu does an amazing job with how it's revealed that the so-called clone isn't actually a clone. Definitely makes you pause for a moment and then think back over the short interaction between "Hua Cheng" and Shi Qingxuan! Whenever we do finally get this part animated I need there to be some Boss music for Yushi Huang telling Pei Ming to just sit back and watch her work before she rides off to join the fray! It always feels very Hollywood action movie for how there's this serious "battle" occurring and meanwhile Pei Ming is dealing with his personal issues that were first raised back in Volume 1. Couldn't have chosen a better moment for that therapy session, could you Pei Ming?! But I do like that he doesn't avoid that he's partially to blame for how Xuan Ji turned out, and that his advice for her is that she works on herself and loving *herself* over a man. I feel like this advice is another reason for why Pei Ming is considered a feminist ally, perhaps on a similar level with Qi Rong in my opinion (which is a little hilarious because both instances of them showing themselves to be all about helping women to be strong within themselves it's been because of Xuan Ji and Pei Ming's shared past). Just when you thought Qi Rong graffitiing the Heavenly Realm was as wacky it could get, Hua Cheng's minions all turn up to help pitch in. It's honestly crazy. But I feel like it does show that gods, ghosts, and mortals, there is no real difference between the three. Especially when they have such a powerful opponent who basically considers them all his enemies. The ghosts of Ghost City would be the first to join the Hualian Fan Group as set up by Pei Ming 😂 But it shows just how accepting and welcoming the ghosts are of Xie Lian, whereas his reception in the Heavenly Realm is the opposite. I really feel it's because Xie Lian doesn't judge them like others do, especially other gods. Instead Xie Lian makes up his own mind on each ghost's character. Mo Xiang Tong Xiu really just throws in that bit of information regarding Feng Xin and Mu Qing's whereabouts. Because these chapters are so hectic and chaotic, it's really easy to not notice who *isn't* being spoken about, and so it is a bit of a jolt here that Feng Xin and Mu Qing are missing. But it's still a much too action-packed scene for the reader to have any time to pause and think on that information (similar to Jujutsu Kaisen, only in it there's no time to grieve as well as question where everyone else is within Shibuya). Xie Lian has enough time to be fascinated by (read: geek over) the sword, just not enough time to unpack that the bodies of his teacher's three friends became a sword for him. It's honestly so fitting we get this moment of Xie Lian and Hua Cheng on the palm of the statue. Came at the perfect time for the ED change in the donghua with the normal-sized statue having both the flower and the butterfly on it's palm, like a symbol of both Xie Lian and Hua Cheng upon the statue 🥰 Guzi just breaking your heart at the realisation that the man Qi Rong possessed may have been just as abusive/negligent as Qi Rong's father was when he was a child. I'm with Xie Lian though that Qi Rong chose to protect Guzi. It definitely gives him some points, and makes him a better father than some other blood fathers/father figures in Tian Guan Ci Fu and Mo Dao Zu Shi. Hua Cheng lightening the tone with suggesting Mpreg to his gege...🤣 Mei Nianqing with his comment about gambling: pot meet kettle...I seriously love the Guoshi though! He's a great addition to their higgledy-piggledy squad. But maybe Hua Cheng's Gambling Den will be enough to help persuade Mei Nianqing that Hua Cheng is a good egg, if he's able to win a few rounds there 😆 I did die the first time I read this with how Hua Cheng treated Mei Nianqing. Definitely gives off vibes of "Meet the Parents/Family" and trying to be on your best behaviour around them to make a good impression. All the suspicious flags raised with Mu Qing these chapters 🚩 Definite Gimli and Legolas vibes with how Pei Ming was keeping track of how many rats he took care of in comparison to Yushi Huang. Also I can definitely get behind a Xuan Ji/Ke Mo ship, perhaps helped along by Ban Yue considering Ke Mo speaks another dialect and doesn't seem to know the common dialect the majority of the characters speak in. "Daddy Danmei" is perfect! Love that 😂 To be fair, Xie Lian had Cuo Cuo's attention until he asked for Cuo Cuo to help them find his dad 🤣 Xie Lian was aware that Cuo Cuo walloped Feng Xin with a radish not all that long ago. They don't have a good relationship. Who knows if it would have worked if Xie Lian had asked Cuo Cuo to help them find Feng Xin, and not referred to him as Cuo Cuo's Dad. Also sadly still no news regarding the manhua or when we might get the next chapter translated 💔😭

It’s insane that Volume 7 went by so quickly!! But yesssss, getting SUCH good content with Pei Ming AND Qi Rong this set?! Insanity! I LOVE that Pei Ming is so flustered by the Rain Master – it makes me such a fan of them as a ship! I’m definitely in a future discussion going to make a “It’s Raining Men – mainly Pei Ming” joke! 😛 And YES, Enemies to Lovers! YES! We love to see it! And her being such a badass while Pei Ming is a scorched drowned cat? NEED ANIMATED. I agree, I appreciate the matter with Xuan Ji and Pei Ming FINALLY getting the settlement it needs. And the idea that PM and QR are feminist allies in the WEIRDEST WAYS is…something! Can PM and the ghosts be the fan club of HuaLian? I think so! And yesssss, knowing it’s been He Xuan this whole time with the Wind Master? MY HEART! Yes, the JJK and HOB comparisons are RIPE this season/volume! It’s crazy! And of course XL is geeking out! I love the connections of HuaLian and the donghua as well! Also, how MXTX makes Qi Rong a BETTER father than half the ones in MDZS is…insanity, but that earned him major “fave side character” points for me as he at LEAST protected Guzi over himself and was treating him “better” than his dad and seemingly trying to make up for his own lack of a father figure. *sniffles* I just don’t want him to be gone forever. 🙁 That Mpreg reference…I can just IMAGINE the knuckles cracked by fan fic writers in that moment, hahaha!! I feel the Guoshi and Hua Cheng are those two uncle-grandpa-father-in-law/son-in-law duo that THINk they’re going to hate each other at first and then love each other by the end of the story. And yes, Mu Qing = SUSPICIOUS this set. He doesn’t exactly have a great track record. At this point, I’m not sure there will be a new donghua chapter any time soon, so I may just power through! 😛 Thank you for the kind words and comment! So ready for Volume 8!
