Hua Cheng has whisked Xie Lian away to where? A cave apparently...to go run amok and meet a new Calamity, APPARENTLY!   

The Green Ghost Qi Rong is finally just around the corner, but first, we gotta take care of some antics with familiar faces who are just eyesores to Hua Cheng at this point...I'm SO EXCITED FOR NEXT WEEK! RULE OF 8, RIGHT?!

Your bow headband is so cute! Very fitting look for this donghua reaction! I did giggle at you getting a little ahead of yourself for where last episode left off...you're just too excited for Qi Rong to make an appearance already 🤣 But how could you forget we get our first time of Hua Cheng turning someone into a Daruma doll first?? 😂 They animated Hua Cheng telling Xie Lian that "no matter what [he] rolls, [he] can see [him]" so well. Felt so romantic and soft. But Lang Qianqiu just had to come in as a third wheel. No wonder he was the first to be turned into a Daruma doll! Xie Lian becoming the Guoshi and turning this into a teaching moment for Lang Qianqiu though is so perfect. I feel like it shows that although Xie Lian has moved on, he still sees Lang Qianqiu as the kid he taught (just like his own Guoshi sees him). I love Xie Lian not wanting anyone to put him on a pedestal otherwise they'll be left disappointed. It's a great way to show Xie Lian has faults and is not a perfect, omnipotent being but rather just a person who happens to have ascended three times and still makes mistakes even though he's 800 years old. I feel like it's also a great way to show that although Hua Cheng does hold Xie Lian in such a high regard, because he knows of Xie Lian's past and the "mistakes" he's made Hua Cheng isn't simply putting him on a pedestal the way Lang Qianqiu did when Xie Lian was his Guoshi. He sees all of who Xie Lian is and was, and what all he has done (good and bad), and yet loves him and is devoted to him nonetheless. The donghua's detail on the simple garb was amazing. Just from having watched some historical CDramas I was aware that the clothing they all were wearing is typical mourning/funeral garments from back then. Lang Qianqiu's garments differ slightly from the advisors/rest of the Court I believe because he would be the Chief Mourner. I love the callback with the OST for that moment that Lang Qianqiu recalled Xie Lian's words on what the most important aspect of being a ruler is. It's the same score that was playing when Xie Lian was talking to Hua Cheng in Puqi Shrine about his past and once telling a young boy if he didn't know what to live for, then to make Xie Lian the boy's reason for living 🥰 But it really shows Lang Qianqiu's mental and emotional strength that he was able to put aside his feelings regarding his Guoshi killing his family members, and follow the teachings Xie Lian imparted. Xie Lian: Turn him back. Hua Cheng: No [internally] *This way he'll be portable and silent, so he won't be able to hurt gege physically or emotionally* I didn't imagine Fang Xin as being like a single piece. I always imagined that there was a very obvious delineation between the blade and hilt. The donghua's design it's also almost like a piece of obsidian rather than the steel and hilt just being like a dark jade. Your internal fangirling over our glimpse of Qi Rong made me laugh! You did very well on not getting so excited over that brief appearance. The next episode might be harder as it'll likely be us getting Qi Rong on his throne with the kneeling Crown Prince of Xianle statue 🥺 Gotta say I kinda love the visuals of this new ED more than the last one. Also pretty sure the song lyrics are different so maybe this ED goes with a different part of the song. Ruoye gave me such Magic Carpet vibes too this episode! So adorable 🥺 But so glad I waited two seconds to take a drink when you came out with E'Ming was just vibrating 🤣 Donghua is really just making E'Ming my favourite weapon even more. They've done a fantastic job with him. With what you were saying about how we get to see a bit more of Feng Xin and Mu Qing's characters from how they approach the issue of trying to find Xie Lian once again I was reminded of Mei Nianqing and his one cup question. Back then Mu Qing wanted more information on the two men before making a decision; Feng Xin wanted to leave it to the two men to decide between themselves; and Xie Lian chose to find a third path. The reason why it reminded me of this, even though the way they each acted in this situation is a bit different from how each answered, is because if you look at the bare bones of the situation all three reacted just like that. Feng Xin wanted more information this time (Mu Qing's answer); Xie Lian gave up on trying to contact Feng Xin and Mu Qing, therefore leaving it down to them to make their own choices (Feng Xin's answer); and Mu Qing is the one that found a third path by creating the dice himself (Xie Lian's answer). I honestly had no clue we'd get a glimpse of Qi Rong this episode, but I did know he's probably the hardest character for you not to fangirl over (Pei Ming being the second hardest). At least this means donghua-onlies will get a glimpse of our trash king next episode. Can't believe us joking about you getting Qi Rong for Christmas actually came true (for when the reaction will come out)! Worked out so well. Personally I'm more excited for meeting Guzi 🥺🥰 But yeah the next episode is gonna be a fun one.

Oh, thank you so much! I appreciate it! I honestly forgot about 80% of the events of this episode because I was looking so forward to QR! And SERIOUSLY – we have this beautiful, romantic moment, only for LQQ to show up and ruin it! It’s no wonder HC is like, “get out of here!” And THAT MOMENT of XL laughing in despair and HC staring at him – that look says so much and it’s just TEASING the novel readers SO HARD! Ahhh, that is good to know it’s funeral garb that LQQ is wearing, there. Thank you for that! And yes, that LQQ is emotionally strong! 🙂We love to see that maybe, just maybe XL’s work as the guoshi was not entirely in vain! And HC’s “No” is such a cat play – I love it; he’s so right to do so! Yes, Fang Xin’s design isn’t as slender as I’d imagined, but I don’t mind it! And HAHAHAHA…I’m gearing up for my control as we are nearly assured to see QR next episode. OHHHH….this will be a TEST. And YES! Ruoye was so cute, but E’MING! E’MING IS ADORABLE and I love how the donghua is doing him as well! The ED is so pretty, though! Hmmmm…I may have to check out the OP/ED’s at the end of the season, then! And yes, the three “parties” of FX, MQ, and XL – I remember talking about it in the novel, but it’s fun to come back to it here! 🙂But that’s so interesting with MQ being the “third party” to create the dice here! Ooohhh, interesting! I’ll have to bring that up next episode. I’m SO excited to see Guzi AND Qi Rong - honestly, lining this episode up with around the time when we had Qi Rong’s “finest moment?” Amazing!! Thank you for the kind words and comment!
