Some trivia first. The creatures of the eclipse, (we see them at the end of the episode ) are very reminiscent and do pay homage to the Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch’s triptych, “The Garden of Earthly Delights.” c. 1490-1500. If you are unfamiliar with the series of paintings, it is fascinating to look at. Heaven and Hell converge to torment the sinner in very unique ways. One of my favorite creatures in the painting is a little guy playing a tune that is imprinted on some poor soul’s ass. Butt music! Hahahaha! This is what it sounds like https://youtu.be/bG-34_6_rrk?si=3UwFDaZ5bd0cqFK9 You bring up Saturn eating its child…. Well…. You will see. Something reminds me of that and you will see it eventually. I have done a lot of extra curricular reading for Berserk. The four “angels” do have Sci Fi books associated with them that shed a bit more light on their character. I will leave it at that as I will list the books at the proper time. There are a lot of Easter eggs in Berserk and it’s a bit of a hobby of mine to find them! 216 years…… 6x6x6 = 216 That is a weird warning at the beginning of the video. The design of the women and the other 3 are visually based on everything from H.R. Giger’s baby paintings, and Hellraiser to a 1973 anime called Belladonna of Sadness. https://youtu.be/c9LUA3NgQN0?si=WIGRmlEqKPML6B68 Side note: I had seen the “hand” in another animation that was unfinished. It’s called “The Thief and the Cobbler”. It’s got a bit of a cult following as it’s known, but never completed, much like Berserk. It too took 31 years to make and it’s not finished. It may have nothing to do with Berserk, but it has a big hand in it that looks like the eclipse hand. Yes to the outtakes/ bloopers! Ring in the new year on a hilarious note! Yeah, the deluxe books are chonky so take your time with them, we are used to waiting patiently for long stretches of time. Every other weekend is nothing!

A mere Almond

When the brain guy said "O unholy lambs, children of man" he was referring to the demons. He calls them children of man because they were all once humans who used behelits to become demons. However, they didn't have crimson behelits, which is why they are just regular demons instead of members of the Godhand. They are very proud of being "unholy" and evil. Also, the Griffith as a child scene is not meant to be taken literally. Those visions of Guts and dead band of the hawk members would not be possible unless he was witnessing the future as a child. The Godhand member with glasses called it "the reality in his consciousness". The theme about pursuing dreams to the detriment of others is one of my favorites in Berserk. Grifith said it best himself. "Some dreams are like storms, blowing apart thousands of other dreams in their wake". It reminds me of greedy business people a lot. Even after becoming multi-millionaires, they want to become billionaires. Even after becoming billionaires, they want to become multi billionaires. Even after becoming multi billionaires, they want to become the richest in the world. They just can't afford to pay their workers high wages. Because the voice of the narrator and the brain Godhand member are the same, and because they both have the same world view, I concluded that they are one and the same. That is why I love the previews so much. They are the cleverest previews ever created in a show. They do preview the next episode in a vague way. But the true purpose is that the Godhand member has been trying to convince the viewers the humanity is fundamentally hopeless and evil. He wants you to embrace your inner evil and that has been his goal throughout all of the previews. And every episode he reminds you that "man has no conrol, even over his own will". Like the hand of God hovering above. Through out the previews, he has discussed various aspects of human existence, and he always concludes its evil at its core and fated to happen. He says humans suffer in the present for a future that may never come. He says envy and enmity arise from affection towards others and the very act of having affection towards others is therefore sinful. He says it is impossible to dream without inflicting wounds on others. And that you should ruthlessly pursue your dream. Maybe that is the definition of evil? To ruthlessly pursue your dreams and desires. In the episode 23 preview, he says "Their final destination is darkness. And waiting for them is despair. They will be swarmed by betrayal, confusion, lamentation, fear. And in the end, all that will be left is the purest dream." So obviously, it is previewing what we witnessed in episode 24. But I think he is also saying that all humans end this way to some extent. The only thing of value that will remain is whether you pursued your dream and the legacy of your dream. Thanks for the comment, Almond! And the preview! I was told by the mods that your comment contains some insight into the lore they're not comfortable with me reading yet before the manga, so unfortunately I can't read the comment but I appreciate you taking the time to write it! I'm excited (nervous laugh) for the final episode and the manga!

Oohhhh, thank you for the trivia on the creatures of the eclipse! Will take notes! I….did not anticipate listening or reading about butt music today, but here we are. If you can, *small voice* Please don’t let me know the “you will see” with things I comment on - I do consider that a spoiler, so I want to avoid any information like that. That 216 calculation is…well, seems legit and makes sense, now! YES! Oh my gosh THANK YOU! I watched a video on the history behind “The Thief and the Cobbler” years ago and YES – that is what I was thinking of but could not think of it in the reaction! That was it! 🙂 Thank you for the kind words and comment! YES – going to ring in the new year with something “fun” before diving into the manga! I can’t wait! 😀
