Right after the last set of shocking chapters, MXTX decided to add more angst fuel to the fire...... Funny thing is every time XL and SQX work together part of the job end up in tunnels, be it the rescure mission of earth master which they end up facing gigantic earthworms, the rescue mission of wind master which they dig under the heavenly capital with general pei stabbing swords from above, or this time where they dig once again under the heavenly capital. And the soul shifting spell is suppsed to be very power-consuming, but is often performed between two people who hardly have any spiritual power...... MXTX: Ruoye constantly tangled itself into deadknots. Me: picturing in my head all those headphone cables in pockets that always found their way into a tangled mess QYZ is having a very bad week......After being appointed to deal with the brocade immortal with XL, he got poisoned by his coworker's cooking, fight a lot with the LW+brocade combo, nearly being swallowed by a mountain, got shoveled on the head by YY, somehow become a doll, then a sword, then fight some more cursed spirits fleeing from mount Tonglu, reported back only to found the entire heaven in hell, got beaten up some more by JW(?)BWX(?) got his power sucked dry, got beaten up even more......And this poor kid might not even being able to connect any dots till now. So......JW carried XL all the way to QYZ's place, tie ruoye into a deadknot, tie XL onto the chair, placed the fetus spirit beside XL's feet,then wait until XL woke up on his own to begin his lecture？ Dude definitely has a liking to stage plays. Now that 'virus' SQX got booted from heavenly network by 'administrator' JW, guess we are still far from the ending......

I…if im being honest, I forgot about this part of the novel. I haven’t read these chapters since I read the novel the first time around two years ago. And I’ve been rereading the story as the official publishings have come out. I only remembered the previous chapters reveal, so when the Yin Yu thing happened I gasped alongside with you. Because the first read through, I was just so hyper-focused on Hualian that I kind of closed off on all the side characters. But now after being in the fandom for so long and appreciating the side characters, I truly forgot this even happened 🙃 Anyways, I think it’s so interesting the parallels we had in this chapter. The main one being the parallels of Yin Yu, Xie Lian, AND *surprise!* Shi Wudu. Because they each reject the Heavens and actually come forth with how their actions are their own to bear responsibility for them. I include Shi Wudu in this because, of course, things have to happen in threes, but also, in his final moments, he says “My fate is up to me and not the Heavens”—he changed his brother’s fate with no regrets despite destroying another person’s life in the process but it was his decision in the end, not anyone else’s. Yin Yu outright rejects Jun Wu, who is known as the God of the gods, which (seeing as this is shown to Xie Lian through a mirror) and owns up to his own mistakes and actions. And that was a (literal) reflection of when Xie Lian rejects Bai Wuxiang at the end of volume 6/Book 4. But, not only that, it also leads back to Xie Lian’s one statement all those years ago, back in Ch. 67 in Book 2. Guoshi wanted Xie Lian to repent for interrupting the ceremony procession to catch by baby HongHong, and instead of doing so, Xie Lian says, “If that should happen, then, the heavens are in the wrong. I am right. I will stand against the heavens and defy until the end.” At first, it was such a bold statement for Xie Lian and encapsulates his naivety back when he was a prince, but it also solidifies Xie Lian’s character and how the path he’s on was from no influence from anyone else but his own sense of morality. I just think all three of their speeches were so reminiscent of each other and really reinforces what Xie Lian says at the end of the chapter, “there is actually no god in this world…” Because people have this idea in their heads that gods are absolute and can fix all their problems, and they put their faith/trust in the Heavens, all these “virtuous” gods. But they’re just as infallible as humans—they’re greedy, full of secrets, and not at all what they seem behind closed doors. Not everything is black and white—it’s not as simple as good vs evil. We’ve seen that ghosts, despite being deemed as dangerous and evil creatures, have good in them (aka Hua Cheng), but, in turn, we’ve also seen how there’s evil in the good (Shi Wudu, Ling Wen, Jun Wu, etc). Which is the ongoing theme MXTX has been trying to drive home within this story. These three rejected the blind eyes of Heaven and carved their own path, whether it was right or wrong. It didn’t turn out well for Shi Wudu or Yin Yu but that just makes you root for Xie Lian even more to win it out in the finale. I cannot commend how much I love this story. There’s so many parallels and themes and deep-dives I can get into. I love stories that really make me want to just grab all the threads and see where they all tie in together. Loved your reaction/review, and I can’t wait until next week!

Ahhh, that is a good point about Shi Wudu being tied up in there! That’s a great comparison there! 🙂 Yeah, we’ve talked about how XL and Shi Wudu were similar in that right, and now YY joins them! And yes, in the discussion I went through how it relates to XL’s line at the end; it’s so powerful! 🙂Great to see the comparison with all three! And that’s a great point! MXTX just giving us ANGST CITY: Population? US. I swear, they have a jinx that they have to encounter some kind of earth worm creature when they work together. Maybe it’s just to spite the Wind Master and their refined tastes. ;) HAHAHA – that’s a MUCH lighter way to take that with Ruoye, just imagining the twisting of the headphone cables! 🙂 The fact this has all happened in a WEEK. DEAR GOD. When you put it THAT way, Qi Ying has had a BAD WEEK. And it’s a LOT for someone like QY to process all at once; hell, it’d be a lot for ANYONE to process. JW definitely is friggin’ theatrical, aren’t they? Thank you for the comment!

I haven’t finished the video yet but I’m at the part where you’re talking about the manhua and Hua Cheng telling Xie lien to trust him, and that he trusts XL, and idk if you’ve seen the anime Gurren Lagann, but it make me think of Kamina saying “believe in the me that believes in you” and when I tell you that quote changed me life 😭 so good so wholesome
