**THUNDEROUS HEADPHONE WARNINGS**  

It's the last set of chapters for Volume 5 and WHAT a chaotic, insane volume this has been? We FINALLY meet the Rain Master after all this time and I am SHAKEN by their "thunderous" presence and the new ship I'm sailing thanks to their tranquility and tragic backstory!  

And what a place to end on! The mystery is getting wilder and I cannot WAIT to start Volume 6 next week...it's all up to Xie Lian and Hua Cheng as they arrive at the foot of the Kiln! Let's see what shenanigans await!

In the novel Hua Cheng grabs his wrist, I think, rather than by his waist. Though I'm certainly not disappointed with such a change at all. But the manhua does definitely give a bigger kidnapping vibe. Pei Ming's relationship with Ban Yue definitely has become a little more begrudgingly positive. Your outrage at the single line teasing about Ruoye's origins made me giggle. Mo Xiang Tong Xiu truly is evil sometimes with her breadcrumbs of information. Love us getting some badass Ban Yue. Especially considering how she let Kemo hurt her back in the Sinner's Pit when we first met her. Also Ban Yue is now the second female being romantically linked to Pei Ming. Though considering it's only green-eyed Xuan Ji that believes there's any romance between them it's not quite on the same level as the Pei Ming and Ling Wen rumours. Such a good show that you just unconsciously snack on whatever's closest, I've been there Xie Lian 🤣 Xie Lian and the farmers really are Michael Jackson in the music video for Thriller. Yushi Huang's introduction is so badass! 🥰 Also gotta love Xie Lian never forgetting the Rain Master's assistance when so many turned a blind eye to his people's plight 🥺 Especially when we take into the consideration all the things Xie Lian seems to have chosen to forget. Yushi Huang's ability to make food makes her my third favourite god (after Xie Lian and Shi Qingxuan) 🤣 But her ability is also an interesting one. As far as I know growing crops is a melding of yin and yang energy. The fully grown crops are typically harvested at a time when there is a lot of yang (male) energy and then return to seed to grow once more in the colder months and when there is more yin (female) energy. With this there could definitely be similarities between Yushi Huang and Ling Wen in their roles doing jobs not typically held by female heavenly officials. At least with Qi Rong as a daruma doll he can't try to leave Guzi behind again 🥺 Get you a Ghost King that makes you a hammock bed! Romania: I feel like that's also an innuendo... When it comes to Pei Ming I feel like nearly *everything* becomes an innuendo 😆 The creation of the ox is so sweet in comparison to the tale of how Yushi Huang ascended. But it explains why the ox has always been this protective and caring force for Yushi Huang. Xie Lian making the comparison of asking about a Ghost King's background being like asking about the size of a man's manhood honestly made me think that it was yet another way of Pei Ming high key shipping them, rather than questioning Xie Lian making that kind of a comparison 🤣 Pei Ming going to chase after the Rain Master 🥰 He wants to go play White Knight to make for being the damsel in distress in the earlier situations 🤣 I love Hua Cheng just calmly trying to help Xie Lian see passed his own trauma to be able to look at all the information from a neutral viewpoint in order to come to the realisation of the painting(s) potentially being fake. I also love just how close they are with each other in this moment. Really telling of the trust and depth of feeling between them. Mo Xiang Tong Xiu is such a great writer for gore and horror. Like between the description of the blown up corpse-eating rat and then how the final chapter of this set ends? Truly next level horror! Any other romance writer would turn this moment of the main pair holding one another into something softer and sweet, but Mo Xiang Tong Xiu goes nope and brings in the good ole creepy factor of someone else being somewhere in there with them. Always fun being able to take things off the board of unanswered questions, but it is funny that even at this point in the story we're still replacing some points with brand new ones 🤣 For your connecting the Calamities with the Four Tales I did want to say that *technically* Qi Rong has a connection to Yushi Huang...he kidnapped and ate some of her people 😶 And yes when this popped into my head I did imagine Qi Rong as Fat Bast*rd from Austin Powers saying "C'mere I'm gonna eat ye!"

Thanks for the reaction and can't believe we're already at the end of book 5! HC in manhua: having all sorts of thing to do after his crush burnt his paradise manor down before flying back to heaven also HC in manhua: instantly come to rescue in his best garment and a ton of accessories when his crush rolled the dice The fight between PM and all those sharing a connection with him is such chaotic energy. Let's see: RG the sword is stabbed into his chest, XJ the ghost bride mad with jealousy is all over him while trying to land a claw on PS, BY's joining in the fight by holding XJ back and protecting PS, so XJ used RG to stab PM some more......even if general Kemo's also unleashed at that time, he'd have some trouble telling apart who's on which side as everyone's tangled together like some twister game turned violent. It never occurred to me till now that BY is a savage ghost and seems to be stronger than XJ, good for you girl! Meanwhile XL: after framing PM with the audio clip, began happily munching melon seeds in the front row and enjoying the show, only realizing this when others pointed it out. Guess he does have a bit of sadism inside......and you guys don't even save some melon seeds for PS? that's the only food actually edible to ordinary human we've seen so far after entering the Tonglu area before the rain master appears! Finally, after 5 volume's worth of time, we've unlocked the rain master and the last of the 4 famous tales! And there's even that one line foreshadowing the origin story of Ruoye...... Rain Master Yushi Huang is the last ruler of her kingdom and hundreds of years later only XL and PM address her as 'queen'. XJ refuses to see her as monarch despite the fact that she betrayed her country while she used her life to save it. Back when we first entered Mount Tonglu and unlocked the backstory of PM, he's like "I never thought my story to be some famous tale" and now the 4 tales are all unlocked, it's clear that actually all of them have hidden tragedies. The loyal general who suppressed the rebellion is ordered to be killed by the monarch, the princess who loved her country is seen as substitute throughout her life rather than the real queen by her family, the crown prince who tried to save the world end up a laughing stock in all stories, and the young lord who poured wine to help other people has also taken the fate of another person for centuries. MXTX really rocks at writing such shocking tales. So...knowing the origin story of a ghost king is like knowing the size of his manhood? In this case, guess we all know the size of Black Water ROFL I'm not a fan of PM/rain master ship because in my eyes PM should stick to being a proud manwhore but I also enjoy all the fanfics involving those two. And now we know that the ox is rain master's only subordinate, even a family member dedicated to her, him constantly shaking PM down is like the butler disliking this renown playboy going after her ladyship. XL: (encounters terrifying murals about the human face disease) HC: warm hug mode activates!

Thank you for the kind words and comment! Volume 5 felt like it went by REALLY quickly! HC is just always at the ready, isn’t he? We love him for that! I love the CHAOS of this chapter set and that Pei Ming is just the pin cushion in the midst of it all! And OOOHHH I forgot Banyue was a savage, too! @.@ YES, that needs to be addressed in a future discussion; thanks for pointing that out! And oh no! Pei Su needs those melon seeds! T-T But yes, XL DEFINITELY has a secret sadistic side to him, that’s been coming out more and more! I’m so happy at this point that we’re STILL getting mysteries unlocked and even more previewed! I LOVE the theme of the four tales and how MXTX words them – that’s so great; I like how you worded it here, too! And OH MY GOD….THE BLACK WATER JOKE *DIES LAUGHING* WOW….Well…. I totally get the dislike of the ship - no judgment from me! I do love the Rain Master’s only subordinate being the ox and the story surrounding him joining her is SO CUTE! And yes, thank goodness when terror arises, XL has HC to help him through it! CANNOT WAIT FOR VOLUME 6! *EVIL, NERVOUS LAUGH*

2023-08-25 10:54:40 I’m all for Starember making these scenes more romantic – *whispers* “Do it.” And yes, Pei Ming becoming a little more nice around BanYue…in his own way! And Banyue being a badass is so glorious! The connection to the Thriller video! HAHAHA! That’s great! Oooh, that’s a GREAT point about what all XL forgets, but he remembers Yushi! <3 The story of her ox is SO SWEET! I love it! And I like that notion about the yin/yang energy and Yushi doing a job most others would consider a “man’s” definitely links her to Ling Wen – maybe Ling Wen would approve? I really want Ling Wen to see how off kilter PM is, though, around her and INFINITELY tease him for it. That’d be great. And of course, EVERYTHING surrounding PM is an innuendo hahaha! And I love that idea of him trying to “prove” his masculinity in helping her out! 😛 Is it sad that I WANT a QR Daruma doll now? Agreed, though, ghost King hammock beds? Now it’s just ridiculous! 😛And our sweet summer child, XL, asking about manhood and ghost kings…are we having some subliminal thoughts, good sir? And YES, MXTX has shown the trust the two have had sloooowly developing and him trying to calm XL is so sweet and intimate in these chapters!
