Can I say, I love Shinya? He's still suspicious to me, like Guren (thought not as much as before) and I love their relationship together. But yeah, Guren's becoming more of a complex character, as he teaches our "Squad" the price of being late and the seriousness of this mission to come!  

I like the new introduced squad and their design, as they've been charged as new "mentors" for Shinoa, Yu, & crew. Meanwhile, things are getting more desperate for Mika...whose reliance on Krul's blood is becoming harder and harder to maintain. I'm feeling for my would-be vampire boy! As we're getting into the meat of this "new mission!"

Hello. I loved your reaction and am excited for the next one. I like the fact that we are getting a lot of character depth and development to Shinoa and were able to see Guren shine as a leader. Kureto said that he doesn’t trust Shinya bc he and Guren are close, so why would he agree (even if shinya wanted to come) to send someone as powerful and also is in a high position in army as Shinya to a suicide mission in which Shinya would be in contact with Guren a lot. My theory is that Shinya is a “hostage”, as Guren did mention in the previous episode that Kureto loves to hold hostages to have as a leverage/ to blackmail. With Shinya, Guren would not fail or abandon this mission (even if he is working with vampires like Kureto doubts) because shinya is someone who is important to Guren, so Guren would do anything to save him and not to put his life in danger and Kureto can go on with his plans without being afraid of Guren messing it up. Not relevant to the topic but I miss human Mika so much, he was so adorable and pure. I wanted to ask if you are going to read the light novels ( it is a prequel to the manga) after you are finished with the series? P.s.Recently I saw a tweet that the light novels are basically a Guren’s vers. of “How I met your mother(shinya)?” to yuu.

Oh, thank you so much for the kind words!! I'm DEFINITELY excited for the rest of this season! Ooohh, that's a REALLY interesting theory about Shinya and the "hostage" situation! Hmmmm....I've just watched Episode 17, but for Episode 18, I'll have to bring your theory up! I like that you address that, though! And you have my curiosity PIQUED with that info about the Light Novels and Guren/Shinya -- I'm planning to read the manga after the anime is over and react with you all. While I do that, I may have to read the light novels and do a soapbox or something on them, too. Are there English translations online, I wonder? Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! There are 2 light novels about Guren: 1. Guren Ichinose: Catastrophe at Sixteen (7 volumes) https://thesoundofanicefall.tumblr.com/post/630558678563602432/as-i-had-found-out-that-unfortunatelly-some-part 2. Guren Ichinose: Resurrection at Nineteen (2 volumes and ongoing?) I couldn’t find a good link to it yet. I will send it if I find a good one. And there also a light novel about Mika, but it hasn’t been released yet. I am planning reading both Guren LNs in the physical form, so I am not sure if there are any better translations online. But I searched and was only able to find a link for one. Hopefully this helps you out a bit :)
