**MAJOR HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

I can't believe we're here, at the end of the series! It feels like just YESTERDAY I started it! @_@ These last few episodes were so emotional, but THAT ENDING?! EXCUSE ME?!

I'm very grateful you all convinced me to watch this series; I've absolutely LOVED it and the good news is: We still have two movies, some "Special Edition" WangXian scenes, and I have the novel and Audio Drama (thank goodness) to finish. So my Mo Dao Zu Shi journey is not quite over yet, but man...what a journey this has been! <3

NOTE: I left an edit in on accident, but it's @Shevx who's sent me the Special Edition WangXian goodness I'll get to in a few weeks -- THANK YOU! :)

And thank you all for watching with me and for the support!

A great place to rage quit is just at the end oif the show XD The good thing is they DID rearrange the ending for different exported versions, 'Western' and 'Japanese', not even hinting at the separation and that shows us the best that was NOT the intended ending, nu-uh. But! How else would we get all the great fanfiction with Wei Ying ruminating over their relationship, going back, meeting again and again, ruling the cultivator world together or leaving it behind after years of it! I'm glad this interpretation is not the original canon but it is still fun to explore the possibilities. Also, I do love the small changes toward the brothers reconciliation they gave us at the temple. Donghua was freaking heartbreaking with no shred of hope there! I am very much on position of fanon Wangji that is "Wei Ying does not need him, he has me but well... if he wants a brother that much I can tolerate a minute a month of JC if I make an effort". I actually admire that little socialistic speech from Su She XD I mean, Wei Ying is still the nonconforming element in this society but he has accepted his place as an untamed hero, living outside the law and all that. And Yao with Su She, they could very well lead a revolution if they wanted to.

You know I wasn’t too fond of the Untamed the first time around, but it’s actually really enjoyable and really accurate to the novel. The showdown at Guanyin is always such a compelling scene and the Huaisang reveal is always so god-tier. I really like the scene where Huaisang picks up Jin Guangyao’s hat after the temple is destroyed. Because in the end, despite not murdering Jin Guangyao himself, he’s still got his blood on his hands (literally and figuratively). Huaisang is such an intriguing character, I really wish we had gotten more of him! I know there’s the movie with him. In my opinion, it felt the most fanfic-y of the entire Untamed series (although I didn’t see the other movie so my opinion my change). I still enjoyed it, plus more Huaisang content so I wasn’t too mad. But it doesn’t count as canon to me. Anyways, the flashback to how Jiang Cheng actually lost his core. I mentioned it in my comment in the donghua reaction, but I still think it’s so sad that Wei Wuxian will never know what Jiang Cheng did for him. I also like that Jiang Cheng didn’t tell him about it. Because Jiang Cheng didn’t sacrifice his golden core for bragging rights. He did it because he loves his brother and wanted to protect him. And this would also explain even more so why Jiang Cheng was so distraught when the Golden Core reveal happened. Because to Jiang Cheng, he must be thinking to himself that his sacrifice, the one thing he had selflessly done for his brother, amounted to nothing in the end. That’s why the words “Shouldn’t I hate you? Can’t I hate you?” hurt so deeply. He had been outdone by Wei Wuxian once again. He sacrificed his core, something so precious and important as a Sect heir, in order to save Wei Wuxian, only for Wei Wuxian to lose his golden core in the end anyways and keep him in the dark about the truth. Ah their brotherly angst always get me 😭😭😭😭 It was so fun to react to the Untamed with you. I can’t wait to see the end of your MDZS journey. I also am looking forward to you starting Heaven Official’s Blessing because hooo what another wild ride that will be! Do you know how you’re planning to do the reactions? Will you do the donghua reaction first then react to the manhua/novel? It’s hard because there’s not as much content out (yet) like MDZS, even the manhua is only just reaching the part after the donghua. But hopefully in the next coming months, season 2 will be out, and maybe an official release date for the Live Action and the audio drama (although this is a fairly new announcement so we might not get an audio drama until next year or two). But like I mentioned a long while back, I do recommend watching the first ep of the donghua somewhere other than Netflix bc Netflix splits the original first ep into two eps. I just feel like it ends awkwardly and loses the effect of what a first ep should be. Plus the first episode is just so good as a whole. So, yeah, that’s what I recommend. Of course, feel free to do it whichever way you prefer!

That's what someone in the Discord was saying! I will likely need to go back and watch that version when I react to the WangXian Special Edition scenes...or at least bring it up and talk about it. And I can INSTANTLY see how fans would dive into the fan fic world to re-write the ending...MXTX is over here, waving her arms meanwhile, like, "Heloooooo! My book actually has the REAL ending!" Hahahaha! And YES! The donghua has a PRETTY BLEAK end for Cheng, which I was never truly comfortable with, so I'm glad this is a bit more hopeful (we'll see how the novel goes). And yeah, it's VERY interesting what Su She brings up to WuXian alongside Yao and about the elitism of the system in MDZS, and we've seen firsthand how corrupt it is. It's an interesting concept, even if it doesn't get explored fully. Thanks for the comment! :D

I think if I hadn’t watched the donghua first, I would have had a different experience with The Untamed, but knowing the characters through that adaptation and reading the novel at the same time watching this has been REALLY helpful! I’ve definitely enjoyed my experience with watching The Untamed with you all. I LOVE the HuaiSang reveal at Guanyin Temple – it’s so great, and that hat pick up at the end? Genius! I wish we’d gotten more with HuaiSang, but that makes me excited to talk about the movie, because at least we get some more with him, even if not totally canon. And yessss, it’s SO sad that we flash back to Cheng’s moment he lost the core! ☹ The love between Cheng and WuXian getting revealed is SO heartbreaking but sweet! I agree, it DEFINITELY makes sense with why Cheng was so distraught after learning the truth behind the core transfer! Ahhh, the angst is so good in this series, right?! Thank you so much for the kind words and YESSS, I’m excited to finish MDZS this month and next month start on HOB! 😊 Sooooo…I’m definitely starting with the donghua for now, since that’s out! I have the first two volumes of the novel, so after the donghua, I’ll be looking at the novel chapters and manhua chapters – I’ve been told to watch the first episode of the Donghua somewhere else, so I’ll be looking into that! I am sad that the audio drama Isn’t out yet, but we’ll see how progress on it gets by the time I finish the donghua! Maybe season two of the donghua will be out by then! **FINGERS CROSSED** I appreciate the
