Be Happy

I am going to write this and watch you having a meltdown after 😂😂 I told you before was a child ´s play Romania .. and just so you know.. anime only had it easy because that freaking HEADSHOT was a the final panel in the chapter and we had to wait a month to know what happened to Eren’s head that went flying 😭😭😂😂😂 classis sadistic Isayama… anyway let dive into this video that I ve been waiting since the morning… 🥳🥳🥳

The biggest headphone warning of all time was expected, did not disappoint arigatou

Maia Brodsky

If you think about how the Eldian empire spread across the land, it makes sense to assume that all Eldians are mixed. I always assumed that one drop of Eldian blood means you're Eldian, because it means you can turn into a titan.

Maia Brodsky

It may be possible that all titan shifters saw the Paths when they first became shifters, because if you recall, there is often memory loss involved. But sometimes these memories return. It's possible that freckled Ymir either didn't forget or the memories returned to her at some point.

Sacha

‘Two Brothers’ or more accurate translation would be ‘Older Brother and Younger Brother’ This episode was actually 1 and a half chapters of the manga. Soooo… remember when I mentioned that there would at least be one moment that manga readers had it worse than anime onlys? Well can you imagine getting to chapter 119 and the final panel ends with the decapitated head of your protagonist spinning in the air like a beyblade and you have to wait a MONTH to find out what happened? CAN YOU IMAGINE?? Do you have ANY idea the absolute madness and chaos the fandom was in during that time?? Theories and memes were everywhere (my favourite one being Nishinoya receiving a ball but instead of a ball it’s just Eren’s head 😂 NICE RECIEVE NOYA! NICE KILL GABI!) The hate for Gabi returned anew. It still wasn’t confirmed how many chapters were left to the end so we had no idea what was gunna happen. It was absolute insanity. And I’m honestly kinda salty that his head getting shot off wasn’t a cliffhanger for an episode. What’s interesting though is how this didn’t get spoiled for a lot of people and this chapter came out in July 2019. Crazy stuff. Now onto this episode which is probably in my top 5 of the entire series so this will be a long comment probs. From top to bottom it is a masterclass in adaptation and elevated the source material which was already amazing! The Galliard Brothers When the title ‘two brothers’ comes up us the audience expect it to be about Zeke and Eren and also maybe Colt and Falco from how the last episode ended but the surprise for all is that Marcel and Porco are included. Porco Galliard’s death is one of the best character deaths in the entire story. It elevated a good character to a great one. It’s a perfect send off for him and yet so devastating. That smirk of his at the end kills me every time (and he looks so bloody handsome in his final moments they animated him beautifully. What an absolute chad) What I love about his final moment is that he was able to make peace with his inferiority complex. He finally learned that it was his older brother’s love that prevented him from getting the Armour, even if Porco did not ask for this, and that the thorn in his side Reiner was just caught in the middle. His final words are incredibly human. He was able to hang on to his pride and get a last little jab at Reiner. But I think it’s a disservice to say that it’s only a jab. It more feels like him saying “I understand Reiner. I finally understand. You can’t die yet. I’ll die to protect Falco so please take of the kids for me.” He sacrifices himself for another younger brother Falco who did not deserve this fate and also sacrifices himself for Reiner, a true brother in arms. Someone Galliard can finally understand now. And the fact that he died while wearing the Survey Corps uniform. With the wings of freedom on his back and no armband in sight… it really gets me emotional. He was free in this moment. Free from his burden and with his pride intact. And now this is this the third time in a row that the Jaw Titan protected Reiner Braun. Marcel, Ymir and Porco chose to die so the plot armoured Titan could live another day. Reiner is truly cursed to live. The Grice Brothers Okay. I’m going to try and write this without crying because this moment of these two brothers actually affects me pretty deeply. The absolute devastation I felt as Colt clings to Falco, his little brother, as he is about to transform. Colt knows the inevitability of Falco’s ‘death’ and yet doesn’t want his little brother to die alone and afraid. Whereas Falco is desperate to get away from his older brother throughout this scene as he knows his inevitability and doesn’t want to drag his brother to a certain death… okay yep I’m crying. Colt’s plea to Zeke (an older brother figure to him) is truly upsetting. We know it’s futile and in a way so does Colt. But when you are in the situation of life and death and you are the older sibling … wouldn’t you do anything and try anything to save the one you love. The one you are sworn to protect. Colt’s purpose from his introduction was to protect his family by joining the warrior program. His love for his younger brother has been palpable so him dying is on one side so sweet and yet on the other so frightening. It takes a lot to not listen to your survival instincts and willingly die to try to give your brother a moment of love and peace before the end. But sadly it’s a futile attempt as Falco is perhaps more afraid in this moment BECAUSE Colt is with him as he tries to push his brother away. The expression on his face as Colt hugs him is my worst kind of nightmare fuel. It is devastatingly tragic. The other thing I love about this moment is Zeke. Even though his resolve is absolute and in his mind he is doing this to protect HIS younger brother… it takes a lot for him to go through with it. He genuinely didn’t want these two young boys involved. He genuinely looks scared and regretful that his plan brought these two brothers into it. It’s shows that he cared for them. But sadly the plea of his protégé, a younger brother figure, is not enough. But it’s still hard for him. It’s a beautiful human contraction. And when Zeke sets Pure Titan Falco onto Reiner… he can’t even look. He can’t witness what he has done. It’s great characterisation. But you know what is also great? Eren being scared and telling Zeke not to scream. And Zeke and Reiner’s shock at his actions *chefs kiss* For Zeke is further proof that Eren is not on board and for Reiner he can’t make sense of why Eren would want Zeke to wait but it’s good to remember for us the audience that Reiner witnessed this moment. The Jaeger Brothers Now. First lets talk about the younger brother. When I read that scene of Eren saying to Zeke that he was onboard the euthanasia plan during Zeke’s backstory chapter, to me that was the biggest red flag. I can understand somewhat on the theories side of things why people would entertain the idea that Eren might be onboard but honestly as soon as he said “There’s no greater salvation than never being born in this world” I knew that he was manipulating Zeke. There is no possible way that Eren would ever be on board with something like this. To strip any kind of freedom of choice from his friends would have been the biggest character assassination for him as it goes against everything about him. “Because I was born in this world” is more than just his ideal. It’s what his mother believed. It’s what he lived by. When Armin questions his resolve of seeing the outside world in 1x12 Eren reacts surprised by his question. Because striving for freedom because he was simply born … it is his very core as a person. The satisfaction I got when Eren looks in disgust at Zeke and tells him that his plan fucked up … I cannot put into words. No matter how much I love Zeke, that moment is really wonderful. Now we just need to learn what Eren’s plan is… Now when it comes to the potential of a brotherhood between these estranged men it kinda breaks my heart. That’s why I feel for Zeke and know that his love for Eren is genuine, even if it’s based on assumptions and his own trauma. Even when he’s setting up the trap for Eren you can tell by Zeke’s reaction to Eren using him is sincere. He isn’t acting in that moment because he genuinely wanted his doubts of his little brother to be wrong. I fully believe that he loves Eren and wants to ‘help’ him but it’s such a twisted love at the same time. That’s why I love AU fics and fanart of these two brothers in a loving relationship. The potential of them is the tragedy of all this. Zeke is far too clever to not double check and be sure of Eren. When Eren LITERALLY dropped the ball on him it created that seed of doubt. Did Eren do it on purpose because he couldn’t even stomach the idea of ‘shaking the hand’ of Zeke and pretend to be on board? Or was he actually sluggish and didn’t have good eye coordination? It could be either but the damage was done. And now Zeke is in control and he wants to help his little brother. This episode is full of older brothers trying to save their younger brothers. All with genuine care in their heart but all the younger brothers sadly did not ask to saved by them. And Eren has no real love for Zeke here. This episode really is tragic. I had to watch a few eps of FMAB after this to get some wholesome brotherhood 😄 because Isayama’s versions kinda break my heart. - few things My boy Armin does look really good this episode doesn’t he 😄 Mappa you service me once again. Also Mikasa too looks gorgeous. The character models looked amazing once again although, I’ll say that Eren in the Paths looked a lil inconsistent for me but can’t complain too much as there were some beautiful shots of him. Gabi had every right to shoot Eren. Even if she heard him say wait she still would have done it. She has absolutely no connection to this person. She saw him fight his closest friends, she knows that he is the ‘enemy of the world’. And so she absolutely cannot let them touch in this moment as she has no idea what they will do but with an absolute guarantee in her heart that it will be terrible. Even if she heard the wait from Eren it’s not enough for her to be sure of Eren’s intentions during this battlefield. I do love that she cries. This moment isn’t a step back in her development. There’s no glory in this moment for her. In the memories sequence (which is very 2001 space odyssey inspired) After Falco you see the guy with the gun. That was actually Kruger’s child memories when he was in the closet and peeking out. It’s more noticeable in the manga. “WhAtS thisGOTH girl? wHAts this girL with GlLasseS?” 😂😂😂 I’m actually dying I had to pause the video oh my god! Holy shit! Nothing entertains me more than seeing anime onlys trying to make sense of the sauna fanservice cover picture and the AU goth and nerd. Don’t worry this ain’t a spoiler to say. You can actually know what these images are as Isayama is the very definition of a troll and purposely asked Mappa to make sure that the nerd and goth were included. Just look closer at them in particular and you’ll see who they are. I’m still dying by the way 😂 It’s not because Zeke isn’t a direct relation to Fritz because we know Zeke is royal blood anyway. Zeke didn’t HAVE the founding Titan. Meaning that when he entered the space of Paths he didn’t have the vow renouncing war because Eren was the one who had the founding Titan. So he was the only person of royal blood in 100 years since the vow was made to go to Paths without the issue of the vow in him. If he was the founding Titan he would have had the same problems as all the other holders. That was the actual loop hole. He obtains the ‘power’ because he is royal blood and thats who Ymir serves. Eren is technically still the Founding Titan though but doesn’t have ‘power’ here. *sigh* that episode was a lot wasn’t it? You handled it and the discussion REALLY well. I thought you be more jazzed up honestly 😄 This part of the story is what I have been waiting for and it’s kinda surreal to see this being adapted finally. I have been looking forward to these chapters for soo long and Mappa handled it expertly. Now the pain train continues and it is far too late to get off now and honestly I wouldn’t even dream of it!

Yes, Eldians (or more accurately subjects of Ymir) aren't a race. If founder Ymir was the first titan and at that point the only "subject of Ymir" her kids would still only be 50% "pure". And that as high as it could ever get, so even if it was all incest from that point on there still wouldn't be any "pure" subjects. You either are a subject of Ymir or you are not, there are no inbetweens. That said, the rest of your genetic makeup could still influence your titans look/appearance and function.

Matthew B

Eren: "I'm playing 4D chess, you're playing checkers." Zeke: "Hold my beer."

dmunoz

Armin did mention to Hitch that touching another titan sometimes sparks memories when he was about to touch Annie's crystal

Anthony

Love the little callback in the transformation scene by using a remix of XL-TT (XL for large, TT for titan) by Sawano. It was typically played in S1 for the high despair moments like S1 EP1

Lol one of your best reactions ever! This was literally my friend a few weeks ago, who is also anime-only - she screamed, cried and freaked out next to me during the episode. And what an episode is it!! Glad you went into this completely blind - as other people have said this episode adapted chapter 119 and half of 120 - the end of chapter 119 was Eren’s head being blown off… so I can’t imagine waiting to see what happens next for a month in real time lol. As I ended up binging the rest of the manga the same night after reading It. 😁 And reliving it with the anime has been awesome… Where do I even start? In regards to Eren asking to Zeke to stop or wait, my interpretation of it is that he wants to avoid more Eldians dying - since he is so against the Euthanisation Plan, that makes perfect sense. And also - Falco appearing with Colt shortly after gave him a further reason to not want this to happen - going back to their conversation in episode 3 of Part 1 and how Falco is literally the purest soul of AOT. Whilst most people would think Eren didn’t agree with the plan in the first place, I Iove the double double crossing twist at the end and how the tables flipped several times… Porco… I share the same opinion as you - didn’t care for him, felt like Marcel was more interesting, only being present in a few flashbacks, but he had a grandiose final scene and Damn, did he look good - Pieck-chan would have paid more attention to him if he wore his hair that way the whole time 😁 The “Memory Shard” sequence was absolutely outstanding and one of highlights of the episode - manga readers were on edge about it but damn, did MAPPA deliver. You had very interesting theories throughout the discussion as to what happens next and this late in the game it’s hard to fully comment until you’ve watched episodes 20 and 21. Looking forward to those reactions!

romaniablack

Oh thank you!! I'm glad you all enjoyed my descent into madness!! Or the start of it, anyway...

romaniablack

That makes sense! I wondered if the "percentage" made any difference in regards to the shifters, more as a curiosity.

romaniablack

That very well could be, especially with the memory loss and Ymir was just an exception to that! :)

I always wondered if grisha inadvertently started the plague since the rest of the worlds viruses evolved and him being in an isolated community caused it

Zeke's spent his whole life practiced catching balls just for this one catch of a life time: Eren's spining head.

Maia Brodsky

If I put myself in Gabi's shoes, I think she still would've taken the shot at Eren, even if she knew Eren didn't want to let Zeke turn people into titans (which I think is about more than just Falco, but that's a discussion for my next comment). Gabi knows about the threat of the Rumbling (from Willy's speech), and she knows that touching Zeke will give Eren access to the Founding titan's power. Though it seems clear from her tears that she no longer wants revenge against Eren, he still poses a threat and it's still her duty to stop him from touching Zeke. She thought she was saving the world when she shot him (just my perspective obv).

Maia Brodsky

It's still largely a mystery to me why exactly Eren didn't want Zeke to scream. Purely because he likes Falco? That's probably part of it imo (he already knew about Falco getting the wine in his mouth), but I still think it's more than that. Other personal connections, like Pixis? Probably that too, although that makes me a little extra salty about how little concern Eren seems to have for Levi (and Hange), though perhaps he's covering that pain up as well. Is it simply because he doesn't want people to be made into titans, essentially slaves under Zeke's command (because that's not freedom and he's planning on betraying Zeke anyway)? Honestly, it's probably all of the above, and maybe some other reason I'm not thinking of. It's mysteries like this that make Eren Jaeger the enigma he is. Insight from others on this particular question would be welcomed and appreciated.

Maia Brodsky

Obviously I don't support Zeke's decision, but I don't think Eren could've held off Reiner long enough to let Falco escape. And like you mentioned, Magath was getting ready to shoot at them again. Waiting for Falco to escape would've been an extreme risk to take.

Maia Brodsky

This episode definitely melted your brain a little lmao. You were getting Falco and Floch right, but then you stated calling Jean 'Sasha' and Zeke 'Reiner' in your discussion. xD Completely understandable after an episode like this, but I got a good laugh out of it.

Maia Brodsky

Magath was the one shooting, not Pieck btw. I think you did know that, I just couldn't tell bc you were saying Pieck was aiming/shooting. Probably just a word choice thing, but I'm really bad at parsing that sort of thing.

Maia Brodsky

You definitely were overthinking Reiner's "What was that?" line. It was his reaction to hearing about Falco having consumed Zeke's spinal fluid. The line could also be translated as something like, "Say again?", basically like, 'what did I just hear?'. He knows what Zeke's spinal fluid does, but this is the first time he's hearing that Falco is at risk from Zeke's scream.

romaniablack

That is INSANE to me -- Isayama, master of cruelty with his fandom!! Thank you for the kind words and comment! :)

romaniablack

I realize I confuse Falco/Floch a LOT and yessssss, my brain melted. Glad y'all got a chuckle out of it! ^^

romaniablack

That is very true! It's just so darn tragic! :( Basically this episode in a nutshell, right?!

Maia Brodsky

I never got the impression that Reiner even knew Eren wanted Zeke to wait. How could he know that? Eren reaching out could seem more about wanting to touch Zeke. I always thought Reiner was just shocked because this is the first time he's hearing about Falco consuming Zeke's spinal fluid. I'm hoping you can elaborate on why you said Reiner was shocked at Eren, rather than at what Colt just said, because that would greatly alter my perception of Reiner in this scene (being concerned with Eren's motives, instead of Falco's safety as I had assumed). Edit: skimmed the rest of your comment btw, agree with pretty much everything, it's just that one part that threw me for a loop

romaniablack

That is a great perspective and in that frame, I like the idea that Gabi isn't shooting Eren anymore for purely "revenge;" she's doing it to keep him from touching Zeke because that's a threat to the people she cares about....yeah, in her mind, she's saving the world. Nicely put!

romaniablack

I AM curious about Eren's views on the whereabouts of Levi and Hange, though at this point -- how is there time to think about it? With all the madness surrounding him; I'm not sure if we'll get more on that later, but it's curious. I'm glad you brought it up. I took it as him not wanting the titans under Zeke's command, too, like you said, because it goes against Eren's character at this point. And I saw one of your replies got blipped from Patreon on here -- I don't think that Reiner was thinking Eren was trying to say "Wait," (he probably was thinking Eren was still reaching for Zeke, like you said) -- I was just making a note that Eren's gesture was similar to Reiner's and it sucks because neither Reiner nor Gabi could hear what he was saying, so they wouldn't know any different with his gesture. I hope that makes sense! :)

Nathan Hardy

This episode was brutal, they like front filled all the moments up front, so the timing was kinda strange. Been hearing quips about how Porco completely sucks in combat, but his Titan is a skirmisher .... mean for hit-and-runs, terror raids, and blitzkriegs, it's not meant for brawling Titan vs Titan combat like Annie or Reiner. Which is probaly why they deployed Marcel to Paradis, he would have really messed up some infantry. When Eren flipped Reiner with his legs, I kept thinking, "Nope, Eren definitely doesn't skip leg day" When Zeke transformed the Titans, and we literally get sent back to the ambience of Season 1, and see that exceedingly happy Titan grinning at us, there's a Titan doing a dumbbell workout with his arms, but without dumbbells! RIP Koslow, you fat, overweight bigot who laughs at other people's PTSDs. You died as you lived ... like a bitch. I don't think Porco did it because he finally decided to like/respect Reiner, he did it for Falco. So he literally walks in and shits on Reiner one last time before dying, on his own terms, with half his head gone. Cause it was icing on the cake, and because he can. What a legend. I do think that Zeke truly cares about Eren, after being crapped on by Griesha and Dina, he's been desperate to find family, so he does do everything he can do look after Eren. But Eren is his own man, he doesn't give a damn about Zeke at all. Lastly ..... the vaunted Founder Ymir, the First Titan, the legend that cults worship and goes out of their way to find random people to fabricate as her descendants, is a loli....

Sacha

That’s okay! It’s a blink and you’ll miss it moment. But it’s because of the reaction shots with both Zeke and Reiner right after Eren says wait and holds his hand up in a stop sign to Zeke. Zeke has the close up of his eyes inside his Titan in shock afterwards and another in his beast Titan form when he’s just frozen. With Reiner he pulls back and his eyes and brows shift up as if recoiling in shock. Then after this moment is when we get the revelation of Falco and Colt on the scene. It’s the same in the manga too which I just checked. There’s the panel with Zeke’s shocked eyes and Reiner looking surprised. After Eren again says wait and holds his hand up. It’s clear to me that’s it’s Reiner being shocked that Eren is stopping Zeke. If it was Eren trying to touch Zeke than he wouldn’t have this kind of reactions

Maia Brodsky

In reference to Levi and Hange, I more meant how Eren knew Zeke was planning to escape from Levi, so he knows he's putting Levi in danger by going along with Zeke and not tipping anyone off to the wine or Zeke's escape plan. Obviously he needed Zeke to escape, and it sort of feels like he threw Levi under the bus to accomplish that.

Maia Brodsky

Ok, I see, that makes sense. You're talking about before Colt reveals that Falco is at risk. So Reiner is shocked about both things at different points in the scene, then, I think.

Maia Brodsky

Some more food for thought: shooting Zeke would have accomplished the same goal, and since he's a stationary target, it would've made more sense from an immediate tactical standpoint. I think she chose Eren for personal reasons. She knows Zeke on a personal level. Also Marley would probably want him alive (the whole titan with royal blood thing) over Eren. Even if she doesn't have a murderous vendetta against Eren anymore, it makes sense why she chose to shoot him over Zeke.

Sacha

Exactly! Reiner first has his shock of Eren wanting to stop Zeke’s scream and THEN he’s shocked when he finds out about Falco’s fate. Reiner has way too much to think about in this moment bless him.

Maia Brodsky

Actually I'm not sure about what Marley would want. Killing Eren would mean they'd have to search the world all over again for the new Founding titan. But Marley also does need royals to retake the Founding titan. But then again, they could plan to capture Historia instead. I genuinely wonder what Magath would have to say about which one makes more sense for Gabi to shoot, from Marley's perspective.

2022-03-14 19:25:21 RIP Galliard you will be missed. I won't miss him trying to kill Eren every second but he put up a good fight. I always start to appreciate characters when they are gone😭I'm gonna miss him banter with Reiner. Omg the amount of memes of Galliard saying for a man that is dying he looked real nice in that shot with the smirk😂😂😂😂it's true tho lol but such a terrible time since Falco eats him😭This episode wins all the cookies for these cinematic shots. Stunning. 2 Brothers my goodness this episode hits me everytime. I'm ngl I'm still pretty shaken up by Colt's death. I loved his character so much. Him just wanting to protect his family by becoming the Beast Titan & get his brother out of this war to him dying because he wants to hug his brother in his final moments. It's so hard to watch that scene. Colt was my guy I get teary eyed just thinking about it😂it's just such a terrible situation ontop of Zeke making everyone Titans. I was shocked to see Zeke hesitate with Colt's plea. If only he waited. A shame indeed omg. Really killed my guy Colt tho😭😂😂😂I'm still not over it. I'm like WHERE'S THE SYRINGE DAMMIT!! Yes Falco does look like a baby bird!! Crazy I didn't see that lol Reiner is so quick to die like sir we need u stop pls!! Galliard & Marcell, who would've thought we'd refer to them as another set of 2 brothers mentioned this episode, that was such a nice surprise especially since he's been wanting those memories since he ate Ymir😭I hate it here. Gabi shoots Eren's head off. Yes the whole fandom screamed uncontrollably, I'm still shook & then they play the happy ED at the end. I'm like EREN YOUR HEAD IS OFF RN!!😭Eren & Zeke what a twist. My mind was breaking even more with that ending especially since we were told since Season 2 that Eren has the power. I watched that episode 5 times repeatedly lol I just couldn't believe the chaos & it being EPISODE 3 LIKE....💀soundtrack was going crazy lol yes Eren saw Jean & Conny over him with the spears😎🙌🏾disturbing to see that they saw Eren's head shot off. Also what a brutal way to start the episode with Eren smashing Galliard to bits omg & yea he pretty much killed Galliard since he couldn't heal at that point & so he sacrificed himself for Falco. What a way to go. Galliard you will be missed as well as our scouts that drunk the wine. What a mess this all is😭

Ahhhhh, that's a REALLY interesting question to bring up! @.@ I'll definitely address that in a future reaction; thanks!

romaniablack

That's a good question about Magath and how Historia would factor into Marley's plan, but that's also a good note about Gabi's personal connection to Zeke and how emotionally, it was easier for her to take out Eren, perhaps, than someone who she couldn't will herself to shoot. Nice bringing that up!

Maia Brodsky

Obviously Porco wanted to save Falco, but I think he also wanted to carry on his brother's legacy of showing Reiner he's a little bitch by saving him. 😆

Maia Brodsky

Yeah, out of the many awful things that resulted from Eren's actions, I wish he saw the sight of Levi's bleeding and broken body, the way Hange found him. It makes me think back to younger Eren, how much he looked up to Levi, how he became a whole neatfreak to try to make Levi proud in S3P1. I really wanted Eren to see what he did to that man.

Maia Brodsky

Also, I should say this to be fair, Eren has been in a cell and MIGHT not know who is guarding Zeke, but come on. He's not an idiot. Who else would it be? Also Zeke's whole, 'you care about your comrades Levi you're not gonna kill them are you?' thing made me suspect that was some info Eren gave to Zeke, which REALLY hurts. Eren knows how much Levi cares about his fellow soldiers and people in general, and he allowed or helped Zeke turn that into a weakness to use against him.

Oh, thank you so much! I loved going into this episode blind and it was QUITE the episode...and we're not even to the "doozy" ones yet, I feel. I still can't believe that the manga ended a chapter with Eren's head coming off...wow...Isayama, you madman. Falco is LITERALLY the purest of AOT, so it would make sense that Eren didn't want more Eldians to die, including Falco. Also, it's so good to finally see Eren's thoughts about the plan revealed, but that double-double-cross was inside...the table's about broken at this point, with how many times it's been flipped, right? And man...agreed on Porco; Pieck probably would have given him more time if he'd kept his hair down. He at least looked like a boss when he went out. #RIPPorco and all those shards...woooo....trippy, right?! And I've seen 20 (out tomorrow) but not 21 yet (I had to take off a week, so I'm LITERALLY caught up with you all) -- but I'll be excited when I get to it! :) Thanks for the kind words and the comment!

Interesting the title change; either works, eh? I cannot BELIEVE that is where the manga chapter ended! I cannot IMAGINE the speculation, chaos, madness…a part of me wishes I could have been a fly on the wall to see the forum madness – maybe when I’m all caught up, I’ll go try to find those forums and watch the theories fly! ^^ That Nishinoya meme! Bahaahaha! I love it! But I can also see where the Gabi hate would have returned in that moment. Just you describing it, I cannot IMAGINE the chaos and insanity. @__@ Yes, this episode is pretty amazing…how I’m going to rank THIS part…pfffftttt…much less the top 10 in the series…*hearty laugh* It’s just such an amazing episode. I love the ties to all the “brothers” in this episode. I LOVE the final shot of Porco as he dies – that smirk? The hair down in his face? They animated him SO well. And YES, he finally learns about his brother’s defense for him, manages to jab Reiner (who will never catch a break from here on, I’m convinced Isayama has it out to just torture him for eternity until his term has ended), but still – like you said, Reiner loves those kids, so Porco sacrifices himself so Reiner can keep the kids safe, to save Falco, and to show his understanding of Reiner in the end. UGH. And I didn’t even REALIZE the connection to the Survey Corps jacket! Damn. He was “free” in the end, eh? And yeah, Reiner’s been saved by the jaw three…maybe four times, technically, since Falco (who is now the Jaw) saved him from shooting himself back in “Door of Hope.” And honestly, the Grice brothers broke my heart in this episode. Colt’s death is BEYOND tragic. The fact that he died to “give his brother a moment of love and peace before the end?” Okay, now you have ME misty-eyed, darn it! T-T This whole first half of the episode was basically nightmare fuel and pure tragedy. I’ll have more to comment on Zeke, but seeing just HOW emotional Zeke gets in this second part so far is sooooo intriguing. Yeah, re-watching the episode, you can see that Zeke was not happy that he had to “keep moving forward.” I THOUGHT that Eren was telling Zeke to Wait and Reiner noticed! I’ll put a pin in this for sure, but of course, #nospoilers but still – it was a great moment and another hint that Eren wasn’t totttttally on board with Zeke’s plan, even then. I agree, the moment he said that about “no greater salvation than never being born,” it was SUCH a weird line to have came from Eren, who we know thinks anything BUT that. That’s why that moment he gets disgusted at Zeke at the Coordinate is so satisfying to me – to have those suspicious and doubts cast aside in that moment. And yes, we know Zeke’s plan, so now…what’s Eren’s? GUESS WE’LL FIND OUT, EH?! *nervous laugh* I’ve not gotten to episode 21, yet, but I have watched 20, so tomorrow should be fun. And yesssss, I agree that Zeke does “love” his brother – the kind of love it is a bit messed up, but it makes sense. And Eren just doesn’t seem to have that same love at all, from what we can see at this point. I can see the appeal of the AU’s now, haha! I like the idea of the “older brother” saving the “younger” in this episode – sort of relates to the Children of the Forest motif in the “adults” saving the “children” of the future generation. I really liked a lot of shots of Eren in this episode, but agreed: Mikasa and Armin look SO DARN GOOD. Also, I cannot believe I probably spent a half-hour trying to break down that “memory shard” scene only to find out Isayama trolled us all. Wow. What a world we live in, right?! I feel so silly, haha! But that is neat to know about Kruger and his memories making it into this! And that’s a good point that the tears she has in this moment shows she takes no “glory” in shooting Eren; it’s just to do what she believes is right. That also makes sense with Zeke and the “loop hole,” as well. Thanks for that explanation! Thank you so much for the kind words and comment! And I was having a lot of fun with this reaction and discussion – tomorrow should be…INTERESTING. It’s a long one; hope y’all have fun with my long-winded ramblings on that! 😊 Yeah, we can’t get off the train now, can we?!

romaniablack

That is such a good point, I'll have to bring up -- that makes me so sad, because like you said, Eren always looked up to Levi and respected him, and Levi gave him the advice about #noregrets -- and here, we see Levi regretting the faith put in Eren, and we don't get to see Eren's reaction to Levi being potentially dead (unless you count his surprise at Zeke showing up when he does in Episode 17/18). But still, it's so sad. :(

romaniablack

Ahhh, that's a good point about the type of titan the Jaw is -- I'll have to mention that in a future discussion! Thanks for that info! I do love that Porco gets one last jab at Reiner -- who just is Isayama's punching bag at this point, right? That smirk at the end...Porco went out like a boss. The titans in this definitely were a callback to Season 1, for SURE! And Koslow, I was always indifferent about his character but yeah, him laughing at the soldier's and mocking them in line...not cool. Eren did not skip leg day and Eren does not really care about Zeke, which is a bit tragic when you realize JUST HOW MUCH Zeke seemingly cares about Eren. Zeke and Reiner are just tragic figures, eh? And they have to deal with Eren the most.... And yes! What a twist that this girl, Ymir, apparently is serving the royal family...I'm so curious, now. Guess we'll find out, eh? But thank you for the info and comment!

romaniablack

I am sad Porco is dead, and YES! Just when you start to like a character, they're gone! T_T That smirk, though; he died very handsome, at least! I honestly can't re-watch the scene where Colt dies and the others transform into Titans...it's too hard. Even watching Porco die is a lot. And YES! The parallels of Eren saying "Wait" like Reiner....speaking of which, Reiner just cannot catch a break. He's doomed to suffer, isn't he? And the twist with Eren, the double-double-cross with Zeke, and SERIOUSLY. It's ONLY episode 3. "What a mess this all is" -- TRUER WORDS HAVE NEVER BEEN SPOKEN! Holy smokes....thank you for the comment, and RIP to the Scouts and Porco!

Be Happy

Alright, let the absolute madness began !! I was sooo waiting for this episode !! It’s been a 2 yrs and a half since the most goated chapters of AOT dropped (120 and 121 are the ones from which this episode and the next one are adapted ) I say it because you watched 20 so you know the deal .. but that will be another matter. MAPPA does it justice really, the characters design (my boy Armin having a glow up again ☺️) the frames, that sequence in which the time freeze (beautiful symbolism to the difference in the time flow between real world and Paths realm) and we slide through all the chas was masterful !! And the OST! Omg !! Using episode 1 ost when the titans showed up was genius!! We missed those little shits, even if I am heartbroken over all the wonderful characters that have been transformed (Pyxis and Nile essentially 😢😢) Now to the most important part : THE STORY !! These chapters /episodes semented AOT for me as the best show I ve ever read/seen .. how it is crafted, how everything is related since the beginning and how Isayama had the balls to decapitate his MC!! Just BRILLIANT!! Those sets of Big brothers and youngers brothers are tragic.. all of them !! Then again, who is not tragic in this story! Colt pleading is heartbreaking but you under that Zeke could not delay his scream because him and his younger brother were in a bad situation so he had to save Eren by distracting the warriors aand marley soldiers with the pure titans.. Porco!! What an exit!! Being finally free in his last moments from his inferiority complex and perpetuating Marcel’s legacy by sacrificing himself was a stunning end to his character. And let’s not forget that sexy smirk !! How dare you Mappa made him this hot in his final moments 😢 Reiner is really cursed with life to this point!! Poor guy wanted, wished and waited for death but Noo!! Not today 😉!! Gabîs trauma reached a new high this episode !! That shot with her watching Eren/Falco # Reiner is so tragic.. and her shoting Eren is understandable !! She is in shock, it s like she is on auto pilot!! Zeke loves Eren but he doesn’t know him nor understand him, but he was suspicious abd the ball drop and the ‘wait’ moment only drove him more suspicious of his brother… It was a Hell yeah moment for sure when Eren showed his true feelings toward the euthanazation plan!! I mean the opposite would have been a character assassination at this point Love the comparison to Harry Potter. 😁 And yeah, Eren is unfazed, he is calm.. he hasn’t shown all his cards yet.. so let’s see how the chess game between the Jaeger brothers is going to go and whose Uno reverse card will prevail 😁 Shifters can go to the paths but only the royals / founding go to the coordinate .. And Zeke is the one in power because Ymir obeys the Royals essentially .. and the founding has always been with royals until Grisha.. so Eren being the founding titan isn’t important as long as Zeke is here.. Talking about Ymir.. what a tragic life.. being for eternity in the paths, building titans whenever summoned !! I love that the first glimpse of emotions we see of Eren this season is for Ymir, as she is his polar opposite.. I loved the reaction . And was waiting for your eyes to bulge when the headshot happened and you didn’t disappoint 😁 great discussion.. sorry I am late with my comments but I listen to the discussion on two days sometimes so 😄 No let’s go ep 20 (my personal favorite of the season and maybe the show) .. I love the Jaegers , what a wonderful happy family 😂😂😭😭😭👀👀👀

This is just such a good episode. I love how the title fits for Zeke/Eren, Falco/Colt and Porco/Marcel. Even though a lot of characters I really liked died I couldn't cry watching the episode because so much was happening I was just shocked the whole time. Zeke was in a spot where he didn't really had the time to let Falco get away. If he would have waited it probably would be too late. Colt hugging Falco right before he transforms breaks my heart. He was with his little brother till the end. Gabi shooting Eren just makes sense to me. From what she knows he wants to destroy her hometown (=killing her family) while at the same moment people she cares about are getting killed right in front of her. So I get why she shot Eren. It makes sense for her character. I don't want to say it but Porco looked hot in his last moments. So much shit is going down, it's just crazy. Wish you a wonderful day!!

romaniablack

It really is a great episode, despite how heartbreaking it is! And YES! I wanted to cry, but there was just TOO MUCH happening throughout! The adrenaline was high this episode! And that little hug from Colt DESTROYS me. I can't. And yes, it makes sense why Gabi shot Eren...what a moment! And ahahaahaha, I was never a big Porco fan, but he looked really handsome with that smirk in his final moments! There's SO much happening! It's wild! Thank you for the kind words and have a great day, too! :)

romaniablack

So many good comments in this! :) Yeah, it's probably one of my favorite episodes in the series, even though it's SO hard to re-watch with all the tragedy! And how dare MAPPA make these characters look so good! Well, except our tired boy Reiner in this...he just wants sleep and Isayama is making him an insomniac. ;) Gabi's actions do make more sense in hindsight, I'll admit, as does Zeke's caution with Eren, despite his apparent love of him. And YES! A "Hell yeah" moment with Eren revealing his feelings about Zeke's plan FOR SURE! I love the idea of the chess game between brothers in this, and that makes much more sense about the paths vs coordinate. And Ymir as Eren's polar opposite -- interesting! I hadn't thought of it that way! Hahahaha, thank you for the kind words!! And no worries about late comments; I always read any that are posted, whenever they're posted. :) I appreciate all the support!! And yesssssss, Episode 20! Hoo boy!
