**Headphone Warning for Fangirling, Perhaps?**

Oh ho ho, this series gets better and better, and the discussion of "roles" in the could-be relationship between Sasaki and Miyano gets more interesting! Our boy Sasaki may be soft, but he's maybe a little possessive, too? And Miyano, meanwhile, is grappling with his self-image and possibly his sexuality as well!

And then there's Ogasawara, our hot mess express, who's now involved in the drama between our boys! This is already shaping up to lead into some possibly intriguing situations in the future!

Thank you for a great reaction again :) I also always scream at characters that are like: "I can't like him. I liked a girl before." ...Like the option of rediscovering your attraction in a different way doesn't exist or the fact that you can like both??? smh

Ogasawara is an absolute sweetheart and a mess. He's my fav character and he deserves the world. Every time I see him on the screen I feel like I just fall in love with him more and more. (/▽\*)。o○♡ But at the same time, he's like a textbook answer of what my type in (fictional) men is. Oga being a badboy uke, like,, he may be in a relationship with a girl and the.. literal definition of uke does not match, BUT he's definitely, at least in a figurative way, the bottom of the relationship. like,,, you will see if it isn't clear already. BUT taken your discussion, it is more clear already. ┐( ̄∀ ̄)┌ I'm tryna keep this vague as I can, so... imma shut up before I might spoil smt, even though there isn't much to spoil tbh. (〃 ̄ω ̄〃ゞ Also, slime and (bad)boys, Are a very common trope so,,, seeing what kind of manga she was ready should be only a google search away. (.❛ ᴗ ❛.)

See I really relate to Miyano in this anime and honestly love this development in the story. For me this happened when I was around 13/14 so younger than Miyano is now but people assumed things about me because I consumed ALOT of LGBTQ+ media. (Turns out I am queer and it took me a lil while to figure that out but still my point stands 😄) So I totally get how Miyano feels. For him it’s ‘Just because I consume BL doesn’t mean that I like boys or Sasaki’. Which is perfectly valid. This story does make it clear he does have a crush Sasaki and just can’t quite make sense of it yet, but consuming BL or any LGBTQ+ content doesn’t strictly make you queer and I like that this is can lead to conversations about this. It’s not easy to realise that aspect of yourself. This world is soo heteronormative so it makes sense that this kinda trope of ‘wait! I’ve always thought I like or supposed to like girls but do I like guys?’ exists and is valid. I came to this anime for fluff and have had actually some cool conversation with people about it.

EXACTLY -- I feel anyone can discover something about themselves as they mature or have various experiences; nothing is set in stone. :) Thanks so much for the kind words and comment!

I LOVE Ogasawara already so much! He's such a hot mess, but characters like that I always find fun! And YES, while he is in a relationship with his girlfriend, I think it's clear who's the "seme" of that relationship! :) Hahaha, and thank you for not spoiling! :D Hahahaha -- and his reaction to the manga she was reading: PRICELESS! ^^ I can't wait to hopefully see more of him this season! Thanks for the comment!

WOW an hour plus reaction to this Episode, never expected such a long reaction. So, glad you are enjoying this anime. Ogasawara is a mess, but a lovable mess. I've said this before Sasaki is possessive but he knows it and he does try to restrain himself. He also apologizes to Miyano when it happens. Miyano is very aware of this looks and it feeds his insecurities. It is these very same insecurities that have him questioning Sasaki's real reasons for liking him. I have seen some people call this anime boring, slow, toxic, which I just can't believe this is such wholesome BL. If they call this toxic I can't imagine what they'd think of some of the other BL manga/webtoon/mahua out there. I love slow burns, it so much more gratifying when the couple gets together. This anime is giving us just enough crumbles to feed us as we wait for the bigger moments.

Our boys just keep getting sweeter and cuter, don't they (even when they're angsty)? So, the opening scene was a bit of a flashback to the last day of school (in March - Japanese school year ends in March with about a month before it starts again in April) - the day Sasaki whispered his confession as they were going home. Then it jumped to the first day back to school in April. Heh, an unexpected kabedon! Too much - Sasaki has to actually peace out of school, lol. It's hard to say with Sasaki because this is an all-boys school, making it easy to have no interactions on screen - whether girls approach him off-campus or not is not known. He was very surprised to find himself interested in Miyano back in episode 1. I love all the side characters in this. Ogasawara is a hot mess, definitely, but he doesn't seem to care whether Sasaki or Miyano are gay or what, which was a worry when they first introduced him - that he might be hostile/homophobic. And I think Miyano was surprised that Oga assumed he was gay *and* didn't use that against him at all. Everyone around them seems to be very supportive or at least don't mind at all, which has to be totally the opposite of what Miyano expected. Miyano likes "manly ukes" ha. Which can be a signal (that he himself would be a manly uke) but also is the author telling us that there is no way to tell with these two (because Sasaki can also be manly). Sasaki is very protective and possessive but he doesn't really know where he stands with Miyano so he's over-reacting to everything for now. I think...I think Sasaki did not want those random guys walking by to see that petal in Miyano's hair and think he's cute, lol. He's both oblivious to the vibe he's giving off to strangers and he's hyper-aware of how other people might be looking at Miyano. Miyano doesn't like being called cute or treated like a girl, so he's trying to make sure other people don't look at Miyano in that way. Miyano definitely has a complex about his look. Miyano has accepted all those ideas of "love transcends gender" in his BL stories but never applied that to himself. He liked a girl in middle school so he just assumes he still likes girls. And whatever he says, he's taken in those uke/seme cliches where the "girly" one is an uke and *that's not a good thing for a guy to be*. There is this underlying bias against being the uke (in all media, not just BL) - Ogasawara has it as well. But well....someone has to be if they're gonna do the penetrative stuff (not all gay guys want that - either role). There's always this feeling that it's emasculating to be the uke but we all want to see more representation where it makes absolutely no difference who takes and who gives. They're both just lovers. I'm so not into the weirder BL with slimes and tentacles and whatever, lol. Omegaverse I can do but the weirder stuff is a nope for me. I like broody Byronic heroes in stories but I'd never want to actually date someone like that - maybe a little hint of it on the surface (lol) but not all the way. Oga's girlfriend can totally be like that. I thought that translation - cuddle - was a weird choice. Oga was going to pat Miyano's head and the other subs say, "You're at perfect head-pat height." That's not a lot better, but less creepy, lol. Miyano is kind of a pat-able cutiepie, right?

2022-03-04 05:59:53 Seeing Miyano trying to come to terms with his sexuality is so relatable because it's such a confusing time. I've been through it & it's hard. It's a journey. Here you have this adorable friend Sasaki liking him as a friend & more. Just coming to terms with it all can be exhausting & I loved how it's portrayed in this episode in Miyano's chaotic way lol attempting to get advice from his manga⭐Sasaki wanting to be more but still trying to be respectful & him being shaken by there closeness that he skips class was so real lol his heart😭💙Ogasawara is such a nice character to add in to this series. He's going through it with his girlfriend & him coming to terms with his girlfriend's BL & her imagination lol it's so cute how he's just breaking down every episode especially with him finding out his gf is turning his fav manga into bl😂😂😂😂I get it but sometimes we can't help but see the signs lol she's just passionate💙Love that he's been bashing Miyano for his BL & now he's getting advice from Miyano. We love to see it. Props to Miyano knowing the right words to say in this delicate situation🙌🏽Loved the cute animations too. Is it the Chibli form? I can't spell it lol but yes with the lollipop & Sasaki tryna protect Miyano. Oh yes I love how they do background characters as well just living there daily lives in these beautifully animated scenes as they transition the seasons it's just so good. Lol we all need the fluff to balance these other hard series we be watching😂This series is perfect for that even with the angst this episode. Also I listened to the full OP & it's so touching😭added to the playlist💙⭐

That is awesome you relate to Miyano -- I definitely agree that our "likes" in media are not always reflective of ourselves -- definitely a valid sentiment. I love that this show is leading to some interesting conversations about sexuality, identity, and figuring things out about yourself amidst your emotions. And YES -- there is a lot of heteronormative markers all around us, and for Miyano to be with someone that is making him realize certain things about himself...and even him "liking girls" -- the girl we see in question is not really framed in a "positive" light in this series, making it seem like he was going with the flow and assuming he had to like girls based on the social convention of it...but he doesn't seem truly "on board" with it. Miyano cares a lot about what the people around him think of him, so it makes sense with this train of thought, too! And I agree -- I expected just a wholesome, fluff anime, but here we are talking about all these interesting things! :) Thanks for the comment!

I honestly didn't expect to talk that much about the episode, but here we are! Hahaha, I guess this show will do that! I am honestly LOVING the anime and Oga may be my favorite with Sasaki -- I love a hot mess character sometimes, and he's a great one! I like that Sasaki is a "modern" update on the "possessive" love interest trope -- he clearly wants to guard Miyano, but he's very respectful and doesn't go beyond the boundaries. And while it's VERY relatable, I hate that Miyano doesn't know why Sasaki would like him -- dude -- you are so likable, Miyano! :3 Or that very least, I'm sad that he seems to think Sasaki likes him because of his feminine features, thinking he looks like a girl. And...toxic? This series? UHMMMMMM.........**glances nervously towards Sex Pistols** These sweet summer children don't know what's out there, do they? Hahaha, I can't see how this series is toxic AT ALL...but maybe I've not gotten to those episodes yet, haha! But I agree, I can do a slow burn as long as the payoff is worth it -- which has me excited for this series! Thanks for the comment! :3

The full OP is just too good for this show; I love it! And YES! This show is EXACTLY what is needed to balance the darkness and angst of some of the other series I'm watching! @_@ I love how respectful Sasaki is -- our boy's got it BAD and he's doing all he can to make sure Miyano is comfortable around him.... and Miyano reasoning through his feelings is definitely relatable and I love how he goes to his favorite source of media for advice in the moment! :) And his just exasperation, but in the cutest ways! Ogasawara -- I love him! :3 He's such a mess, but I love that notion you brought up that he berated Miyano, but then ended up going to him for advice about his girlfriend! I really want to see his girlfriend and for her to meet Miyano! Maybe we'll get that this season!! Thank you for the kind words and comment! :D

Yesss, they definitely do! And the UNEXPECTED KABEDON! I love it, hahaha – That is a good note about this being an all-boys school, and the reminder that Miyano was maybe Sasaki’s sexual awakening, haha! Ogasawara is most certainly a hot mess, but I absolutely LOVE his character – and YES, I was concerned that he was going to be homophobic in this series, but I was pleasantly relieved that doesn’t seem to be the case. He mainly likes giving Sasaki a hard time…and whining…it seems, haha! But YES, Miyano was definitely surprised by Oga’s assumption, but I’m glad that Oga’s supportive of him, and maybe Miyano realizing that others aren’t as critical of him as he thinks! I’m wondering that, too – if Miyano’s likes of “manly ukes” are a projection of what he wants to be, or sees himself, or what he wants from another – like you said, it could apply both ways, so I guess we’ll seeeee, eh? 😊 Sasaki definitely gives off a possessive/jealous boy vibe at times, but he’s so respectful of Miyano, too, and his boundaries that I appreciate it! Usually, I’m not much into the jealous BF vibe, but it works here. And that’s interesting to note how he’s on board with the “love transcends gender” in the stories he’s read but hasn’t applied it to himself! It’s definitely going to make for interesting discussions to see how he breaks it down for himself in future episodes. It makes sense with the “stereotypes” against ukes why Oga would be opposed to -- I instantly think of “Embracing Love” and how Iwai-san didn’t want to be seen as feminine because he was the uke in their relationship. Good point that they’re both “lovers,” which may be the message in this series! 😊 And yeah, tentacles and slime would be a no-go for me, personally. Oga’s girlfriend seems so intriguing; I hope we get to meet her, but THAT makes much more sense with the translation meaning head-pat – I could see that too – definitely less creepy! Thanks so much for the comment!
