AHHHHHHH IT'S HERE!!! OK HANG ON LEMME WATCH AHAHAHAH

Ivan is Yda

I’m back from watching it and WELL! HAPPY VALENTINES DAY INDEED!🤣 Ok! So episode 34! Such a cuuuute opening! Fairy’s just a happy lil doggo, look at her/him! Iz so fluffyyyyy! And then Wangji just instantly there at a moment’s call🥺 and that GLARE he gives poor Fairy, too. Wuxian is so street-smart, he knows exactly what to say to keep the common people engaged. He knows how to get their attention and how to play them into giving him the answers he needs. Then he’s always so secretive unless absolutely necessary, and yet he shares even the things he deems embarrassing, such as his trauma and fears, with Wangji. He doesn’t even hesitate. 🥺 I will never get over how doting Wuxian really is as an uncle. He knows when to be playful and he knows when to be serious, and it’s a nice kind of balance that eases Jin Ling to kind of be a bit more open towards him. Then we get a glimpse of the past, the last good memory he has of Yanli smiling at him. And then the little bell 🥺 And then Cheng showing up then and there! The sad thing is, I think, he actually has a plethora of emotions in this moment, good AND bad, and he has no idea how to handle them all. So he just resorts to anger and resentment, like he always does. His anger and resentment are valid, of course, but his violent actions and reactions in those situations are not at all justified or excusable. Using Wuxian’s fears against him, using his guilt to corner Wuxian into a corner, and even threatening the one last thing (he thinks) Wuxian tried to protect in his previous life. AND THEN! Jin Ling! He is as much of a copy of his gremlin uncle as he is a copy of Jiang Cheng! Always up to mischief and doing what he was specifically told NOT to do…like letting their prisoner out and helping him escape. Then him and Wuxian’s little bonding moment🥺 the first of many to come🥺 The BTS of this episode was so funny, because every time they look at each other when checking on Ling, they just burst out laughing and poor Ling has to lay there on the floor watching Yibo and Zhan just goof the scene🤣 another is them having a friendly wanter outside the ridge, as they always do. And the confrontation in that room also has an adorable BTS of Zhan petting Fairy in Wuxian’s garb🥺 On to 35 WITH A FRICKING BANG! God! That tender moment on the bridge was EVERYTHING. Wuxian just watching Wangji under the moon, and then Wangji being so terrified for Wuxian’s life on the curse mark🥺And the Wangji carrying Wuxian on his back, and Wuxian’s just wide-eyed expression? It’s so sweet and endearing, my heart just BURSTS every time😭 ALSO! Notice the side view, zoomed-out scene of Wangji carrying Wuxian down the bridge? If you pause and zoom in, you will see them both LAUGHING while they do this scene🤣 you’ll notice it when the wind blows their hair back🤣 AND WE FINALLY REUNITE WITH HUAISANG OMG! Detective Wuxian and Wangji playing “good cop, bad cop” over here! Also Huaisang DOES recognize Wuxian. He knows it’s Wuxian, look at him smirking behind his fan. The man knows what’s up👀 and he’s so GOOD at playing the fool! That line he says about Wuxian feeling familiar? I THINK that was his way of saying “I know who you really are”. But then that little moment of Wuxian talking about the fan with Huaisang’s exact words? I firmly believe this is him saying “I know that you know who I am” or at least acknowledging Huaisang using a memory that his old friend will, no doubt, remember. And you can see the recognition in Huaisang’s eyes. Like that mischievous “I know what you know” look that you give your best friend? Iz like that. And then Huaisang just BOLTS out the room🤣 I find that so hilarious. Wangji’s smirk just watching the love of his life just play the flute, and playing with him. He looks so proud🥺 also, he was cleaning the flute’s holes, since it’s made of bamboo. There will be bits of bamboo shavings inside, so you gotta clean it out. I have one (bought out of impulse because of this dang show😭) and was told to clean the holes time to time. And then back to HUAISANG THE FRICKIN’ ACTOR! He plays his part so well, and when I watched this the first time, all I thought was, “ah, he’s angry coz someone might have coveted his brother’s corpse”. Now, knowing what really happened, God! He’s just—phew! You’re exactly right when saying his acting is distracting, cause it really WAS meant to be distracting for us👀 I love the crazy eyes you had when looking at the preview of Mingjue’s demise👀 And then we get to the little date in the inn, and then hearing how the people praised their efforts in investigating the Chang sect’s case, and then hearing about his long-lost uncle’s demise and Xue Yang aiding the Jins. And we finally cut off with Wangji taking a shot out of frustration! DRUNKJI IS COMING!!! OH! I forgot to mention this! This became a HUGE revelation last year, around November, I believe. Notice Wangji’s clothing! 16 years ago, his robes never had those silver buttons that you see on his outer robes. And yet 16 years later, he has them. According to a professor of culture and arts in China, those buttons have great significance in ancient times, around the same period The Untamed was set in. The buttons are only worn when a person gets married, and dedicates their life to that person. Usually, they have significant engravings for the person they love. The theory is that Wangji started to wear the buttons after Wuxian’s death, as a way to mourn the man he had loved and as a way to honor his love for Wuxian. Thought I should just point that out! 🥰 So excited for next week, BECAUSE DRUNKJI IS HERE!!! And we’re getting into Yi City! Ahhhhh! Thank you again for making these videos! Hehe 🥰

Happy Valentine's Day Romania! Yes, what could have been a better date than soulmates digging up tombs together. And Huaisang's acting in these two episodes! Can't believe that we only have fifteen episodes left... We're really approaching the end of our MDZS journey.

And our detective couple is back on the road! Now you really get the kind of The Untamed experience we novel-readers got, having covered all the bases and being able to compare so many different versions, each one enriching the story. I like how the differences work here, though, especially in the Jiang Cheng scene. I mean, in the novel it happens early enough that we don't know Jiang Cheng, not really, we didn't see him as an adorable child or as grieving teen, we know only the angry adult and we can be convinced he actually hates Wei Ying. With Wangji, we get the notion he's a love interest so he must be actually a loving one despite his impassive face and some actions, but why would it work the second time, someone has to be the real hater right? As for "I've been gone for a couple of hours", there is a GORGEOUS piece of fanfiction for Wangji POV at that moment, short and heartshattering. How distraught he must have been, thinking Wey Ying maybe ran away for real this time or got into real trouble and died for good! And Wangji can only wait and hope and despair. Again. No wonder he finally broke and revealed he knows WWX's identity. I'm there with you on the "dub qualuty is unreal" train! 99% of the time I don't even manage to remember Chinese dramas are mostly dubbed. I mean, sometimes the actors themselves do it afterwards in the studio and then I can notice some things they act out a bit differently, like Xiao Zhan did in the Battle Continent, but professional dubbers do it so seamlessly it's honestly crazy. Totally different form anime seiyuus and foreign movies being translated and dubbed.

I haven’t commented on your mdzs vids in a while, but don’t worry I’ve still been following along! But this ep, you know, I never really realized this until rewatching it a couple times, but how clever of Nie Huaisang to get caught so early on. Like since he was caught for the Man-Eating Castle, it took suspicion off from him at the very start. This gave him a chance to fly under the radar because no one would suspect someone who was already caught to be the mastermind behind it all. Of course, he may not have yet known if Wei Wuxian was truly resurrected, but what if this was his way to try and confirm it for himself? I think he got himself caught on purpose here to ensure that all was going according to plan. Which just blows my mind. Nie Huaisang is so sneaky and clever and SUCH A BRILLIANT ACTOR. He’s overlooked but only because he WANTS to be overlooked, and the fact that he managed to fool everyone until the very end (and possibly even continue doing so after). I can’t wait for you to get to the Yao vs. Huaisang temple scene again in the novel and audio drama. Ahhhh, I just think every version of the Huaisang reveal is so great. (If it wasn't obvious already, I really like Nie Huaisang XD) Anyways, love the reaction - as always its such a pleasure to follow alongside through your mdzs journey.

Oh no worries, I appreciate the support and of course the comments when y'all can and want to talk about the episodes! That's a GREAT point about HuaiSang -- it's crazy clever for the author to create this character that "seems" a certain way, but as we go through the story, sloooooowly reveals they're more than what they seem. But it's all done so subtly, that until the end, you don't truly realize how they are! It's mind-blowing, and I love how his actor portrays it all SO WELL in these episodes! I'm sooooooooo ready for the temple scene in the novel and audio drama! :D I like his character as well, so I am excited that I get the reveal TWICE over (both in The Untamed and the audio drama/novel)! :D Thank you so much for your kind words and comment! This series has been SO good and I'm so excited for the final legs of the journey! :)
