WuXian returns to the Lotus Pier and alllll the family drama ensues! This set of chapters has some of my favorite flashback moments in the series: The Twin Heroes conversation, Madame Yu vs. JiaoJiao, and of course...the passing on of Zidian. T-T And of course, there's some interesting surprises that tie to both the donghua and The Untamed that I want to talk about!

Next up is the burning of the Lotus Pier...and I'm not ready.

Thank you for listening with me and for all the support!

It's not the VAs singing the WangXian song. But they did manage to find two singers who sound very similar to the VAs for our two protagonists. So kudos to the production team! The singer for Wangji has actually performed several songs (both official and fan-created) for Wangji and he is GOOD! Cheng commenting that Mianmian is too low of status for Wuxian is a really interesting detail. This demonstrates how Cheng's mindset is shaped by the existing social hierarchy. This also explains why he can never be as carefree as Wuxian is, not to mention he would later shoulder the responsibility of a clan leader who is expected to observe the social rules and maintain the status quo. Ironically, Jiang clan is of the smallest scale among all the five major clans because, as indicated in this set of chapters, the first clan leader was someone uninhibited by social norms and rules. That is why people keep thinking that Wuxian symbolizes for the clan spirit better. Thanks for your amazing reactions! Have a good week!

Ooohhhhhh, interesting! I didn't realize that! @.@ They still sound like them (and beautifully too) so that's interesting! Yesss, Wangji's singer has a gorgeous voice! That's a good note about Cheng as well, how embedded in the societal structure he is. Lucky for WuXian he falls for a wealthy boy, eh? :P Ahhh, and that is a great note about comparing WuXian to Cheng in terms of the clan motto and reputation -- Cheng is trying to prove he's an equal to the other clan leaders (or does so once he is a clan leader), but WuXian better embodies what the Jiang clan was all founded for from the start. Fun times, eh? Thank you for the kind words and comment! Next week is going to be a GOOD one! Have a good week as well!

Not my favorite set of chapters, but yes, badass madame Yu is always a welcome sight. Talking of Twin Heroes... there is too much talk of it for me XD And I always hated that Jiang Cheng didn't uphold his part of a deal. Loyalty is not one-sided agreement, and he makes his choice just as Wei Ying does. Did he have any choice? Just as much as Wei Ying did. I actively dislike that childish promise being used as an argument in fan wars. It's a drama prop, it's a book-wise necessity, not a real situation between real people. There is no "what if", when we're talking about what already happened in an author's mind. They didn't do it differently, as they could not, being who they are, and that's it.

That's a really good point about Cheng holding up his side of the Twin Heroes promise! I like that it's set up as a childhood promise, but then adulthood happens (and a lot of other things) and life for these characters isn't as simple. That's a good point! I'm definitely excited for where we go to from here, though -- well, not so much the Lotus Pier burning (for the final version I see), but for what's to come afterwards. I've been excited to read the novel's versions of it for a long time! Thanks for the comment!

I'm SO happy to hear that! :D I love that it's Lan Zhan's birthday; he's probably my favorite in the series (along with our chaotic gremlin, of course ;) )!!!
