**HEADPHONE AND BRAIN MELT WARNING**

At 1:31:44 I start talking about the manga -- aka -- when my brain melted.

This was it. This was the manga and anime that officially broke me.

If you're up for it, take a trip down the rabbit hole into MADNESS as I dive blindly into the OVA Sex Pistols, and then delve further as I explain the very easy-to-understand-in-no-way-complicated world of its Manga counterpart, Love Pistols!

This was definitely the most bonkers and extreme of the selections made for this month, and it was the second-to-last thing I recorded before taking several days off of reacting...which...was needed by this point. SHEER INSANITY this round! When you have to bring out Whiteboard-kun, you know it's REAL!

Oh boy, I knew it! Who on earth recommended this one?!? This is so far out there from the usual yaoi, it's insane (it has the rape though). I wasn't as confused as you the first time I watched it, probably because I read the summary first, lol. Even rewatching...it's a mess and the art style is so weird and...not even outdated, just weird. All the bottoms have those enormous eyes - Yonekuni is hot though, not gonna lie. It's good for a laugh, I guess - like a yaoi rite-of-passage or something. You are now a true fujoshi! I've never read the manga but I'm just going to assume it does explain everything better. I figured it out as I watched but it was a struggle to like any of the characters much less uh...enjoy any of the sexy times or feel any real romance going on (aside from Fujiwara's crush on Yonekuni). LOL, Norio and Kunimasa can't consummate their relationship because Norio turns full-cat when he gets really turned on. I think this is like a precursor to the A/B/O thing. Animal-driven tendencies, mating, but not fully second-genders or natural mpreg. It doesn't seem to matter who is top/bottom aside from personality/size. I think they went a little overboard with the whole "fierce bear" thing (and yes, Joshua McBear is just gd ridiculous! His name and his actions). I suppose we're to think that was jealousy and he was offended that this guy he was pining for over 6 years, finally got the chance to meet again and mate with, shows up with scrawny Norio as his supposed lover. But there was just no chance to take in what what going on - the pacing was insanely rushed. "But...we had a moment at the Community Bears' Picnic/Party!" (Yogi Bear crashed the party). Oh, and Kumakashi Teruhiko (bear-who's getting preggers)..."Kuma" means bear in Japanese - so his name is on the nose as well. So...I wrote all that ^ before you discussed the manga and now I'm glad I never bothered trying to read it because WT actual F? What a nightmare of a story. The mangaka must have had some blackmail over their editor, LOL! And they must have been selling volumes because I can't imagine this story being allowed to go off the rails - multiple times! - without an editor just...killing themself over it. (Which reminds me that you should watch Kakushigoto at some point...). I've read some weird yaoi manga but this sounds like you need to have some 'shrooms or be drunk off your ass to maybe appreciate it. Kudos to you for this edition of Januyaoi and my sympathies! I hope your next one isn't Kiling Stalking....

The ova's were like a badly written fanfiction by a teenager....what the hell was going on?! 😂 I mean I know we kind of know what was happening now.... but still......what was going on?! So much of the terminology wasn't explained. Where was the world building? Why did Mcbear do a complete 180 in personality and noone bat an eyelid?! I burst out laughing when you came back with whiteboard-kun after reading the manga! What was that family tree?! What was with the three or four separate stories in one manga and shift of new main characters?! The waiter connection at the end was sooooo funny to me! Thank you for your suffering! I really hope the next one gives you a break!

The complete 180 by McBear is what got me the most, I think! Yeah, Whiteboard-kun HAD to come out after I finished the manga -- the story is insanity, but now I NEED to know how it ends...so Love Pistols will plague me until I get closure. And luckily, the next one is just a mangaka spotlight, so a nice, calming way to round out JanuYaoi! :) Thank you for the kind words; honestly, as bonkers and insane as it was, it was one of the most fun recording sessions I've had watching something.

2022-02-02 13:39:20 I remember there were several that recommended it (and clearly wanted to see my reaction hahaha) – it’s definitely…unique. I will DEFINITELY view this as a Yaoi rite-of-passage! Hahaha, I guess I can check off the box that I’m a fujoshi, now, eh? The manga explains things…slowly but surely….and yeah, you like characters…until they do awful things like what Fujiwara was doing to Yonekuni without him knowing. >.< At least Norio’s character stays relatively “pure” and consistently kind throughout the story. And I like Shinobu quite a bit – he deserved more screentime. And yesss, lots of A/B/O similar things –and MCBEAR – I will never get over McBear and him meeting the love of his life at a “Community Bears Party.” EVER. The manga for their story is insanity, too; the only thing that gets more screentime is McBear showing up at Norio’s high school to punch him. That poor instructor…what’s she to do!? And yes, the manga after volume 6 take a TURN into WTFTown and while I really like Volumes 7 and 8 and the Mer/Shinobu story for its surreal quality and just insaneness – after that it goes completely off the rails and I was just staring with my jaw on the floor. I really need the story to be completed, though, so I can sleep a little better at night, haha! But yesss, I’d love to see Kakushigoto eventually! Thank you for the kind words! Luckily, no Killing Stalking (yet), but this final week will be a mangaka spotlight, so I’m excited for that! 😊 Something more “chill.”
