Attack on Titan Season 3: Episode 18 FULL LENGTH Reaction! (Patreon)

**Headphone Warning's, Y'all**  

I feel my reaction won't do justice to just how GOOD this episode is and how much I love it.   

Armin, Levi, Eren, Erwin, Hange, Jean; all my top favorites in this series along with Mikasa, Connie, Sasha...and FLOCH (who is fascinating already), gathered in one location to argue for the life of "He Who Will Save Humanity."   

The symbolism, the character work; I have a feeling I'll need to spotlight each episode in the recap at this point, aren't I? I may need to rethink how I structure this recap, darn it... 

And I have been dreading Erwin's death this whole season, but after this episode...it all feels "right" and justified. Isayama had a plan. Rest in Peace, Erwin Smith; you badass, beautiful man. **runs off to cry**

Despite all the depressing circumstances, I really liked that this episode showed Mikasa so emotional over potentially losing Armin. I know they grew up together and were friends but sometimes it felt like her head was only filled with Eren which often annoyed me. This episode showed that she has the capacity to feel for others. A more human side to her was revealed and brought me round to liking her for more than her bad ass skills. Both sides made good points on the accomplishments and skills of Erwin and Armin. No one was wrong. Poor Levi, he definitely had to put aside his own desires to choose Armin in the end. I was secretly pleased because Armin is my favourite character. RIP Erwin. He was the best Scouting Legion commander up til to this point by miles.

RIP Erwin! Another fantastic episode. I like Armin okay, but he definitely isn't my favorite. I think it's because of his overly idealistic attitude for me. It's good to have peace and it is good to talk things out, but he was a bit reckless when he confronted Bertholdt like that, and then even trying to provoke him with Annie causing the situation to backfire. That in itself could of killed him if Mikasa hadn't of stepped in imo. Good on him for trying, but to me you can't just talk your way out of everything. I still like Armin and I respect him, don't get me wrong! If it weren't for him, this show would of ended back in season 1 episode 10 lol Thanks for the great reaction as always!!

Bertholdt: "No matter what happens, I can accept how this all ends." Then several episodes later, Bertholdt cries like a little bitch as he becomes Titan munchies 😋 Also, I think Reiner's designation as the Armored Titan is actually incomplete, the proper term is the "Plot Armored Titan"! No matter what, he always survives, due to some deus ex machina. In all due seriousness, I have to call out the unnamed Pack Mule Titan, for singlehandedly saving Zeke and Reiner. That was some act of heroism, preventing that side from a complete epic fail.

I have honestly loved the development with Mikasa in this season! Seeing her emotional and showing her care for Eren and Armin...I love seeing her get so protective over Armin as well. And yeah, "no one was wrong." I think, as much as I love Erwin's character, that Levi made the right choice in the end, but...none of this episode was "easy." RIP Erwin, indeed!

Seriously, RIP Erwin! T_T I can understand Armin not being a favorite, and you bring up a good point about the provocation using Annie, which definitely backfired! I can see that; the straight-up hate I don't quite get, but I can understand him not being a favorite for sure!! And HA! Yeah, without him, ol' Trost would have been....a lot more of a mess, eh? Now that we know about RAB, though, that could have been an interesting AU....hmmm...I'm sure someone's wrote the fanfic! Hahaha! Thanks so much for the kind word and comment! :D

YUP, those words -- I wondered if they'd come back to bite Bertholdt -- and they LITERALLY did. Everyone's heroic until they're about to be eaten alive. I can't say I blame him, though. Someone on YT noted the nickname "Plot Armored Titan;" I like how Zeke breaks the fourth wall for us and literally calls him "lucky." That's a nice, positive spin on it, hahaha! But seriously, the Pack Mule Titan is the MVP of the Warrior Crew; he seriously saved both Zeke and Reiner. Hope they brewed him some coffee at least as a reward!

Levi in No Regrets: “The one to kill him, will be me.” Well Levi does end up killing Erwin like he set out to in No Regrets, only now he doesn’t want to. The decision being forced upon him, as he has to watch a man he’s grown to care for deeply pass on, just like almost everyone else Levi’s been close with throughout the series.

Oh. My. God. Welp. Time to cry again. I completely forgot that line -- that just gutted me. Fun times! Yay!

PS

At the beginning of the episode Zeke was still without his limbs, Eren could still transform to a titan and Levi is above, if Levi and Eren beat the quadruped titan. They would have captured Zeke, Bert, Reiner, and quadruped. By Zeke choosing to leave they only lose Bert. On another note Erwin who is willing to sacrifice hundreds of his soldiers might not be the person you want to have an atomic bomb.

Holy cow, PS, yeah, I never thought about that with Erwin and if he'd had the powers of the Colossal Titan, what that would do....fair point about that and about why Zeke ran! @.@

Isayama showed us trough out the season that Erwin will die and it makes sense it ended like that but it still breaks my heart. He was such an amazing character. Rest in peace commander. Rest in peace Moblit. Rest in peace Berthold. Floch is a character that has I feel like some similiarities with Jean. They both know they are cowards. But the direction they go with this knowledge is completely different. When Berthold called out for help just to realize that he won't get any was actually really sad. The part with Levi saying Erwin had to become a demon because that was what the people needed goes back to season 1 when that one guy asked Erwin if he doesn't have any emotions when they had to left the corpses behind and couldn't bring them back. I also love the parallel when Levi told Erwin that it has to wait to kill the beast titan but Erwin is already dead. And when we first met Levi, he told the guy something and Petra informed him he is dead. It's a good call back. In this second half of the season we get some characters that are really intriguing and I don't know what to think of them. Wish you a wonderful day and happy holidays.

I disagree that the decision to spare Reiner was not a good one because how how the situation ended with Reiner getting away sometimes fear is good and it keeps us safe Jean let his personal feelings get in the way that was a horrible decision in the long run for the scouts

I think its fair to note that Erwin’s plan failed where Armins didn’t Levi didn’t kill the beast titan so in a way the death charge was for nothing

Ok one more thing then I’ll leave you alone it’s important to note mikasa had her blade facing the blunt side when she attacked so she was never going to kill floch just knock him out… Mikasa isn’t always a crazy killer😭

Hahaha, oh, you're fine, but I didn't realize Mikasa had the blunt side of the blade when going at Floch! @.@ That's a great observation -- yay! Mikasa wasn't going for the kill, hahahaha! Thanks for pointing that out!

Has any of Erwin’s plans ever even succeeded? Don’t get me wrong, he is good at getting others to follow him & fighting and I liked him but he was not so good at making plans imo. All of his strategies have consisted of using brute strength & sacrificing half or more of his team and hope to succeed. And I am a brain over brawn kinda gal 😂Plus, I think Armin is way more willing to abandon his dream for the good of humanity than Erwin whose dying breath was still about his dream even after Levi told him to abandon it so that he could lead the charge against The Beast Titan. I am so excited you're catching up! Although burning through these episodes, my brain would have been MUSH -- I hope yours is fine! :) And yes, as much as I LOVE Erwin to death, at the end of the day I feel Armin is the better choice. Erwin's plans...((I don't know how far you're into S4)) sound a lot like another character's....so....I'll make note of that. I definitely agree with you, personally; I like to play devil's advocate to be fair, but my own personal opinion pretty much matches up with yours! :) Thanks for the comment!!
