*NON-BINARY HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

So we finally get to go to Heaven! This episode, Charlie and Vaggie try to plea their case to keep the upcoming extermination from happening...but did they help their cause, or just dig their grave deeper?

There is a lot I REALLY liked about this episode, and yet a lot I would have changed or was surprised by -- in any case, it has me VERY curious for the last two episodes of the season!

While I don’t think this show is stereotypically “good”. I do think i along with most others give it a lot a slack because A: It was produced by amazon and given the fact western animation isn’t really seen as valid here so to even see an r rated western musical animated series is a huge next step for the genre. And B: Culturally, this came out during and after the huge influx of pro Palestinian sentiment where we watched our allies (the “good guys”) get away with atrocities that our government said only the (“bad guys”) did and then systematically showed their hand on just how much that framing is based on nothing other than “because we said so” which was a very hard parallel to ignore with the heaven and hell relationship framed in this show at the time. They demonized one group and propped up another with no real difference like how Adam says fuck and no one bats an eye but Charlie says it and has to apologize. The coffee in heaven example you gave was spot on to heavens hypocrisy, If hell was drinking it instead then boom, just like that, coffee is evil.

I respectfully don’t think that there’s anything to do with the Palestinian conflict and this show. The “good versus bad” trope in narratives have been around for hundreds of years – it didn’t just start with modern conflict; as an English major, I’ve read sooo many stories with this exact same formula, so I can vouch for that. This same formula we see in this episode I’ve seen in series for years, and read as well, so it’s not a “new” thing, which is why I brought it up in the episode discussion. This episode is fine, it’s just doing a lot of cliche and overdone narrative choices I’ve seen in many other stories…done more effectively. That’s all. :) But thank you for the comment.
