For those of you who enjoy the Yu-Gi-Oh GX story, Era of Spirits and Shadows, I wanted to ask your opinions as my Patrons.

Since Yu-Gi-Oh GX is a semi-active Fandom, though a small one as the FFNet archive has less than 10K stories in it, how many chapters should be backlogged before Chapter 1 goes up on FFNet and AO3?

2 Chapters? 3 Chapters?

Having looked through the GX Archive, I have to say...it has a lot of less than stellar stories.

Short, abandoned, not well written, a lot of OCs or SI's, that seems to be the most common stories in that section.

As you know, EoSS isn't heading in that direction. A single OC to bring about the change to the plot is the Premise of the story. Then seeing how that spreads and continues to change things among the characters. Not replacing Jaden in the least, like quite a few seem to do, but giving him a competent friend with some shared screen time.

But, as I enjoy hearing from my Patrons about things like this, what do you all think?

I would say wait until you're two chapters ahead. I'm not sure where the story taking place in your writing schedule but considering the larger amount of stories currently you have written I feel like it'd be better to just wait until chapter 3 to post chapter 1 on fanfiction that way people don't have to wait a rather long time

Hmm, we seem to be having similar ideas so far. Let's see what another couple of people think if possible. We have time before I write the next update. Still have plenty of stories to update this month.

2 or 3 chapters to start and maybe if you get into the higher number of chapters go to 5 to 10 chapters.

I'm expecting this to have some sporadic updates mostly. Once the backlog number is decided I don't plan to change it.

I’m thinking 4-5 chapters on Patreon and do it like your other stories when we get 1 chapter for yugioh ff gets 1

That wouldn't change, even if it was only 2 chapters ahead. I post Chapter 3 here, FFNet and AO3 get Chapter 1. I post Chapter 4 here, FFNet and AO3 get Chapter 2.

When Chpater 3 goes up on here, Chapter 1 being released on FFNet and AO3 seems reasonable.

I say stick to two chapters and test the waters. If it is gaining traction move it to three chapters. That way we still feel like the special snowflakes we are getting the rest XD

Kai there is an awesome gx author called The duelist of dawn who made an awesome gx series and yes it does have oc's in it his main one Claudio uses a deck of Jukebox rock monsters.

I agree that 2 would be a good testing number and once people start becoming more interested add a 3rd see how it takes and if it’s a hit maybe go from there and update it like you have in the past with leonthrope and artificer. Just a thought
