I think they didn't include it because Makima didn't say it in the manga. It was just text for the reader. In the anime, she's telling Denji the story of the gun devil, so everything she says is basically directly translated into the anime, they just didn't include the text. It would have been cool if they made newpaper headlines about the attacks though and showed the viewer through different images.

For me, it’s all the small things the adaptation is nailing on top of the already rich source material. (: As a manga reader, I know Fujimoto’s story is wild and reckless and full of thematic and emotional depth. It goes to dark places, it makes ya laugh, and it causes you to scratch your head and wonder what you just read. However, a lot of the weight in the story does come later, the series itself being a slowburn of sorts. As an anime, MAPPA has the benefit of hindsight aiding them and - with constant communication with the mangaka himself - are able to really nail the emotional beats of the story early on, removing superfluous things, adding the right pauses, musical scores, voice inflections, and even ambient atmosphere/setting shots to really HAMMER home the tone of moments that were simply good in the manga. I just love when something good is made GREAT when adapted with love and care and it’s clear between the crisp animation and stellar direction and voice acting and musical score that everyone involved is dedicated to telling a rather unconventional and sad story, well.

Something really really sick I learned. The five horses, (four and one centaur) are each of the reserve team except for Denji. The cuddly pillow horse = Kobeni, the shadow horse is Arai, the centaur is Himeno, the headless six legged horse is Power, and the final horse made out of hands and eyes and stuff is Aki. Whoever came up with that is insane! I knew there was some sort of symbolism to the horses cause almost every ending has a few things hidden away inside of it

It has a good story. Even the fanservice has a story reason to be there. It's not just the MC falling into a plate of boobs or under a skirt every 5 min because haha lady body. The boob grabs in CM works because the women are actually written like characters. It's the same reason Kill La Kill is great. Surprise, surprise, better writing makes better stories.

It is kinda annoying ngl, Chainsaw Man is amazing story-wise and has great characters, but Denji being horni and doing things for the poon gets old sorta fast.
