If I remember correctly, the actor for Freddie had bigger acting roles overlapping the Peaky Blinders shoot in another country. Also, Freddie Thorne did pass away from Influenza or some other disease IRL, hence the "pestilence" used by Tommy.

also in case you guys didn't understand the scene at all because doesn't seem like you did Tommy isn't being manipulated by the IRA he's actually working for the secret service posing as IRA via Campbell which was the whole discussion between him and Churchhill. Basically, campbell is getting his revenge by turning Tommy into an assassin and then setting him up to get hung like the guy he used at the start of the episode. So it was already happening before he actually showed up

They are! You can actually look up a picture of the Peaky Blinders, they were legit.. A LOT of what we see in the show is dramatized but, for the most part, the people were real
