The fall of the Tokyo Settlement would be the first real step away from merely holding the line, or falling back, and towards actually pushing Britannia out of Japan.

i would say go right into season 2, at least for me, i would die out of curiosity.

Please go right into season 2 :) And yes as others have mentioned episode 1 and 2 there are intended to be watched together.
