The goddesses aren't really the villains, but neither are the demons. What Meliodas said is really the main point, that there is no good/bad or holy/evil in war because both sides are causing mass destruction and death. That's why both him and Elizabeth just want peace instead of one side "winning". The goddesses are racist while the demons are destructive, no one is perfect and you have to accept their flaws if you ever want actual peace.

Well, the war already began long before the massacre so the demons are not justified for the amount of destruction they've caused. This is just showing us the nature of war, it's cruel and ugly and no one can claim they are fighting for justice. The goddess clan was oppressive and subjective while the demons were ruthless and devastating, there isn't a truly good side. But overall, the goddess clan was still the lesser of the evil since their interest aligns with the other clans and they weren't going around slaughtering everyone.

I feel like the Goddess Clan is like "fuck all demons, because they are Evil and we are good" and the Demon Clan is like "fuck all humans and the goddess clan"... I mean, both of them aren't good. The Goddess Clan is a bunch of dicks and the Demons want to conquer the word from what it seems like. So far it doesn't seems like the Demons lived their happy lifes and one they got attack and now they are on a rampage, i think they just want to kill Humans and the Goddess Clan to have everything for themself. But well the Goddess Clan is more on the side of the Human and want to kill the Demons, i don't think they do that to protect the Humans but rather because the Demons are their direct Enemie... the Goddess clan seems like they are a bunch of dicks... they just think they are better then everyone else.

And THAT's what happens when you believe so blindly in the righteousness of your cause that you think it makes you superior to everyone else by default, justifies everything you do and would still let you be the saint/knight in shining armor at the end...

They were already at the state of war. Blaming one side for a strategic plan to set a trap in order to justify the other belligerent side is not fair and smart at all. In this case the term "good guys" and "bad guys" does not apply to angels and demons, especially since we don't know much about both sides and their policy.
