I've always heard of the stories of the Wild Hunt being associated with the Fae. Do you have any local stories of the Wild Hunt?

Mythology of The Witcher - The Wild Hunt - Extra Mythology

We're doing something a little bit different for this Extra Mythology. We're examining the intersection of real world mythology and fictional world mythology in The Witcher. One of the main antagonists in The Witcher 3 is a spectral force named The Wild Hunt. Well, kinda spectral. Turns out there's a whole big deal with some portals and elves??? But there's also an equivalent, from many different places all over the world. Slavic folklore tells of riders that come with baying hounds and winter winds. They take all different forms, but all share one thing in common: you don't want to be taken by them, wherever they may go. French-Canadian folklore has a tale called the "Chasse-Galerie" about a group of men flying through the sky on an enchanted canoe after making a deal with the Devil. It is thought the story arose from a blending of the Wild Hunt, brought by French settlers, and local First Nations traditions.

Thanks for the background for the game, and the look at broader, deeper mythology. It's not the kind of game I play, but maybe one of the people I follow online will play it, and I'll better understand what's going on.

If I might give my honest feedback to your question about mythologies from games going forward, it's this: don't forget to keep it focused on the historical peoples and context when you can. Don't get me wrong: I loved learning that the wild hunt is based on actual mythology! Still, this episode felt a just little less focused than previous entries. I acknowledge that might be partially due to the source material

Re: Megabyte01's comment: hard same. I'd have preferred less (and less spoilery) details about the Witcher version and more about the Welsh, continental, etc. originals.
