MY HEART - REACTION

Honestly, my favourite TV proposal ever... I have many that I love, but none come even close to this one. I love what a surprise it was. None of us knew it was coming. There were no hints throughout the episode (until you go back and watch, and things make sense because of what you now know...) Only Jake knows he's going to propose. No one else finds out throughout the episode and helps him with it, they don't do a shot of Jake holding the ring or anything. It's just a normal Heist episode until suddenly he's proposing. And it's great. And the fact that Jake said that planning for the Heist was what got him through Prison! He decided to propose back in April, he was only recently in Prison, late September/early October ish... So what got him through Prison was planning his proposal! (It does make me wonder if he was talking about it with Caleb in their Cell... It's a funny image...) Also, technically Jake won the Heist as he was the only one who knew where the real Cummerbund was at Midnight. But honestly, Charles was the real winner here...

As for the episode Kicks. I really appreciate how they handled both Jake and Rosa's time in Prison and the aftermath here. Obviously, Jake is the one outright talking about it and all, but it's clear that everything happening with Rosa is a result of her time in Prison. Plus, Holt said that she was happy to do Desk Duty, which I really like because it means she's aware that she may not be ready to go back in the field and accepts that. Meanwhile, Jake hearing someone they're arresting plead and claim that they're innocent. Of course that'd be triggering. And I love that they addressed that. That the idea of putting an innocent man in Prison haunts him because he's been through it. And the scene in Holt's Office where he admits he's not ready to be in the field! I love that scene so much! It just feels so real to me. Just Jake being honest about the fact that he's struggling and finally accepting that he's not as okay as he's trying to be. And I really appreciate how they ended that scene. Because although the last line of the scene was Jake making kinda a joke about crying in the bathroom, it doesn't end on a joke. First of all, the joke was because he was uncomfortable with how real he'd just gotten and wanted to ease the tension and escape quickly. But also, it actually ended with the shots on Holt and Charles' faces as they share that look of sadness and concern as they truly realise how much Jake is struggling. It ends on a sad and worrying note. And Rosa, we obviously haven't had much about Rosa's time in Prison or how it effected her. But I think that makes sense for her character. She's a very private person and doesn't wanna appear weak in any way, so she's not gonna talk about it with any of them. Especially not at work. Instead, she kinda channelled her struggles into her relationship with Pimento and then realised she wants to break up. (Honestly heartbroken... Haha) But she probably realised that after Prison, she needed a more stable relationship, or no relationship at all. Which would make sense... And poor Nikolaj... His backstory really is sad!
