I just got 2 "premium" TWS inears from KEF (€230) and B&W (€400) for a review which I personally would rate as plain terrible. I also just got the new Earfun Free 2 (where I was not involved at all) and it also sounds just horrid to me.

On the other hand I am getting mixed feedback from "professional reviewers" on my tuned Earfun Free Pro, while many of my trustable sources, friends etc actually seem to like them a lot. Of course the final result is mostly dependent on how similar your earcanal is to mine in regard to diameter, length, volume but also shape. As I tuned it with and for my own ears, I am simply wondering how much my ears may differ from the rest out there.

Therefore I would like to ask all owners who bought the Earfun Free Pro either from the original production batches at Earfun (where I had no influence on quality control) or from me (where I try to get pairs which are well matched for left and right) how satisfied they are with the product.

I would simply like to know what percentage actually thinks they are decent and what percentage doesn't like them at all as I am not sure if I should bother with that product anymore. Earfun doesn't seem to have any plands of producing further ones, instead I had the idea to order a larger amount of units which I would mod with my custom firmware, check for consisntency and offer them to those still interested, but I am not sure if it makes any sense and if there is still interest in them. I'd need to invest lots of money into that and I simply do not know if it's worth it.

The next natural step would be to offer a completely own product, but this would imply even higher investment costs which I simply do not have right now.

Still the best wireless in ears I've ever listened to.

I love them! I have tried many many TWS and always had troubles getting right EQ. Didn't need to with these. I also stated on the youtube review that ever since I'm using the SpinFit CP360 I absoluetly am excited. no joke. Using them more than many of my headphones now.

Anonymous

I wish i could of tried them, so i can only go off of metal's opinion. The tuning has more mid bass then the airpod pros giving them a minute hd600 like sound. Fantastic for the price but impossible to get them now

My primary TWS was the Lypertek Tevi, but the Earfun is now my go to since getting it, find it more natural sounding, not perfect but still prefer it. 👍

I really like them . Highs are exceptional but i wouldn't mind a little bit more low end especially when outdoors. Dedicated app with presets would be an ideal solution. I am supprised that Earfun doesn't provide an app as Earfun's brother Fiil, have an app.

I wish I could purchase a pair of the Free Pro Oluv Edition. Should've paid attention when they were on sale... My bad.

"Funny" story, I bought two pairs and yet I haven't heard them. Someone was in need so I gave away 1st pair planning to keep 2nd one for myself. Then the package with 2nd pair was lost in shipment and I was left with none. Sadface. But they told me "Now the factory production schedule is relatively full, and the regular EarFun Free Pro version cannot be delivered. It is still uncertain when the next batch of customized models will go on sale." So hopefully there will be another batch at some point.

I do like them and i vited them as "love them" compared them so against the xiaomi true wireless basic S (quite boomie and more grainy) and to me the earfuns sound way better, still for 20 euros the basic S are decent. But yeah to me by default they are bit shouty at high lvls speacially it starts being a bit too much. Fitting also dificult they fall very easily but i tried switching left to right once and now for running and work i use them inverted to not fall, sound to me does not change much tbh, and the sides for music its not noticieable, just controls do not get accecible, coulda do with some physical buttons there. But in the end i like em a lot.

Anonymous

Precisely how I feel. I have to adjust poweramp to just get a deeper bass and I don't mean the shit bass that commercial headphones fake it. I mean hi fi bass but I can't see how you can have perfect hearing from a 50 pound in ear.. so I'm happy. I only had 2 in ears so I can't compare as much as many other folk.

I love these earphones. They are very nicely tuned. I Bought from either batch a pair. So I have two pair. Can 't say I hear any significant difference. No sample variation between my pairs. I am looking forward to any beautiful tuned line of ear and headphones you will introduce... I still love your tuning on my pandas to.

I actually have the regular Pro and your version - definitely prefer yours. If anyone wants to try the Sonarworks profile the Sound ID app beta is free on Android and desktop. (If your want to try the Sonarworks profiles sometimes mentioned the app is worth downloading, not iOS though).

Anonymous

They are still my favorite listening device. I have one connected to my pc and one that i take everywhere. For me they have almost the same tonality as an hd600 with sonarworks. The hd600 on its own lacks subbass and has a slight peak at 5khz. With the earfun nothing bothers me about the sound and with all my songs i have the idea that this is how the tonality should be. If i get the chance to get another perfect one checked by you i wouldnt think twice.

oluvsgadgets

I usually don’t turn them past 60%. I actually tuned them by listening at around 50% with some songs needing a bit more volume but I must confess I haven’t even tried them at maximum yet as I simply find it unpleasant to listen at such high levels. The human response changes a lot with the given loudness level thus for people who prefer listening at higher levels there should be better choices.

oluvsgadgets

That’s the reason why I intend to make a bigger batch order of 50-100 units in order to sell them on my own. But due to all the hassle and effort I won’t be able to offer them at factory price, I also think that just on sound quality they are worth much more especially if I listen to that alleged “premium” B&W PI7 which is 400€!

oluvsgadgets

Crinacle refused to try them with other tips as he only tests inears with the original tips...

oluvsgadgets

I loved the Lypertek at first but when I tried comparing them after I had finished the tuning for the Earfun the Lypertek started sounding weird to me. What would be your main points for improvement?

oluvsgadgets

oluvsgadgets

For me the regular version with their profile sounded way off maybe even worse than the stock tuning. But I never found any of their IEM profiles to be usable.

oluvsgadgets

We should once measured both our ear canal volume if it’s more or less the same as our results seem to be quite close.

Anonymous

Would be interesting. I think i have pretty average ears. We probably dont hear it exactly the same but i also think maybe the brain is a bigger factor in this difference of opinion. Some people actualy care about sound being "right" and some dont. They only care about what they think sounds good or what they are used to. Im always super skeptical about these things just like you but not everyone is like that.

Anonymous

I love your version and it is my favorite tws over many I have. I observed some issues in Bluetooth connection in your version. It is unstable some times but not in the regular version. Otherwise they sound fantastic.

Anonymous

Would like to buy one pair!

Anonymous

The improvements I would make would be nothing to do with the sound. For the price point there’s nothing to complain about there and they’re very pleasant to listen to... I generally keep the ANC and the ambient sound off as I got some weird effects with both but you’re not losing anything to have those extra features. My biggest request for a version two would be a better case with a hinge that keeps the lid open and takes some pressure to close. A design which also makes the earbuds easier to remove would be great as I tend to take them in and out of the case multiple times per day so this experience is important to me. Thank you for bringing them into the world :-)

Anonymous

Totally agree with this comment. Would only add that the ANC feature is not very effective. I have an old pair of wired Audio-Technica in-ears that have a more effective noise cancelling effect.

Anonymous

My experience exactly. If the connectivity didn't have these problems (which usually gets sorted out if I place them back into the case, close it, then pull them out again), I'd probably just use these and get rid of every other headphone I own. They are really smooth, satisfyingly full range, compact, and are comfortable to use. I've tried numerous others, but they were all way too shrill in the treble range to listen to for long. Your version is buttery smooth across the entire frequency range. Thank you for your contribution to these! Very much enjoying these.

I missed out on the Oluv version, so I just bought the a standard pair. I use them mainly for casual listening / gym etc. I find the sound acceptable and beefy but not necessarily accurate. I have lots of TWS but the earfun are my number 1. This is mainly down to form factor. They are so small, light, comfortable it really puts them ahead of more expensive pairs. I rarely use the noise cancel but I do use the hear through a lot. My complaint is that with the ear fins attached, they don’t always return to their charging position securely, and stay paired to my phone even when the box is closed. Or, the just don’t charge. If you had tuned pairs available I would buy 2 sets.

The mass market for audio is well catered for, and sadly, satisfies the majority of listeners. You're better at ignoring the masses and concentrating on people who value what you do. Each reviewer will have their own agenda, and they don't align with yours... It's also worth thinking about the genres of music you like and that of your audience. For instance, one reason Beats became so popular, was the bass levels accentuated the Hip Hop bassline that was listened to by their users. Those users would have turned the bass up in their cars etc, so it fitted their expectations perfectly.

oluvsgadgets

I don’t get it as hip hop is already so fat listening to this with even more boosted bass sounds just comiclike

Anonymous

The problem with Earfun Free Pro is that I cannot get a good noise isolation. And though the OE version sound really excellent at home, when I am in a noisy environment or travel in a noisy vehicle - they sound just tinny. I will try the other tips to see if i can get better results.

Anonymous

I would love to get one pair of them. Missed both batches by just a few days :(

Anonymous

I am very satisfied with the Earfun Free Pro OE, and will definitely buy the "next" version. If you need money in advance to buy a larger volume, i would be happy to pre-order my pair.

Anonymous
