Hello,

I've had a productive weekend implementing an eye aim system and blink animations into the rig, there's a clip above where I demo this! I hope Patreon can see that I've taken adequate measures to censor her naughty boobs - I'll post an uncensored version in a follow up post.

The system is a world space eye aim / look at feature which is quite common in gaming and cinematic CGI rigs. At the moment only her her eyes rotate to try to look at the floating ball thing, I'll advance it soon to make her rotate her head too if her eyes can't rotate enough to be able to see it.

Each eye tracks individually, so she can do convergence (cross eyed) which is important for her to be able to look at close objects, and also important to make her be able to ahegao.

The rotation of her eye naturally drives the upper and lower eyelids too.

Should be perfect for VR, where she'll look at you if you're within her cone of vision. Her attention can be changed to anything in the scene since the only data we need to make her look at stuff is a point in space. Eventually I want this to be part of quite a nice comprehensive AI look system, where she'll automatically turn her whole body to look at things and engage with the world in natural ways.

AI behavior and dynamic animations are going to be a big part of the game, which solves two issues -

  • Makes her behavior more natural and dynamic - she can react to events better
  • Makes it so less baked / keyframed animation is necessary - which take time to create

For example, I don't show it in this clip because it's too lewd for a Patreon public post, but she's sitting on the rodeo machine here and is being moved by it based on the saddle's position. Since the speed and rotation patterns of the machine can be random and player controlled, we need her to be able to react accordingly to its motion, and it will move her in different ways depending on her position on the machine.

Similar to a seesaw, if she sits in the middle of the saddle near the fulcrum / pivot she won't bounce up and down much, but if she sits on the back, she'll bounce up and down a lot. Would be pretty much impossible to do this with keyframed animation since we want it dynamic, so instead we use some transform math.

Working hard on the rodeo demo, will keep everyone updated. My attention is divided on weekdays but I'm still putting all my spare hours into this so please bear with me!
