A Revised Illrigger Has Risen! (Patreon)

Greeting Hellknights! We have a little surprise for you, a little pre-Christmas present. The Illrigger Revised is attached to the original Illrigger Patreon post and available in the MCDM Shop.

We originally released the Illrigger, our first custom class, waaay back in April of 2021. Which seems like 40 years ago and also somehow last year.

We worked really hard on that class! But! That was back when MCDM was smaller and the products tended to be more raw and idiosyncratic and, frankly, weird. Some people liked how weird it was! Some people never noticed how weird it was! A lot of it is down to how your table plays.

But, take my word for it, it was super weird. And a lot of people said so!

We watched those conversations, did a lot of digging to understand what people didn’t like, why, what they DID like, and meanwhile the company was growing, we have MUCH better testing now, and a large network of designers we like working with.

So! We decided to revise the Illrigger and…this is that! It’s a major overhaul but one of our main goals was keeping the spirit of the design and the flavor of the class intact and…I think we did that!

A lot of people worked on this, including our testers, but the driving intelligence behind this was Sadie Lowry who enthusiastically took on the task of revising The Order of Desolation and bashing it into shape. She knocked it out of the park, our testers pounded on it, we revised, iterated, tested. Sadie shepherded the class through all the testing and revisions until it was good.

It is now good. We think! 😀

Along the way we added two more subclasses. The Hellspeaker, who’s silver tongue makes them a master manipulator, and the Sanguine Knight who uses forbidden blood magics to work their nefarious plans.

We had two new subclasses, so we needed more art, and we figured while we’re at it, let’s get a new cover from Patrik Hell, whose stuff is just ace and now…it’s all yours!

If you bought this on our store, or you’re a Patron, you just GET this new version free. The old version will still be available if people want it, we’re not taking it down. Lots of people are playing the old version and we do not intend to make their lives harder by scrubbing the old version of the class from the internet.

We love getting to make this stuff for you, we really do, and we hope you like this new, revised, ILLRIGGER.
