Important note for Supporters at the bottom of this dev post!

Got a lot of work on the exterior and am wrapping up for an extra-early pre-release demo for next devblog. The past 4 days I spent my time sculpting cliff walls and dressing up the exterior with new props, among other things.

To start off, I modeled grass details so I could paint the scene with them:

I then decided to have large mesas and similar landscapes in the surrounding area. I've never made these kinds of rocky walls so it was a learning experience. The following are my attempts leading to the final version:

Attempt #1, too smooth

Attempt #2, better detail but still lacking rock protrusions

Attempt #3, far better sculpt. I rolled with this version and baked out my ambient occlusion and curvature maps to make eroded detail. Then I composited the bakes with several detail textures. I liked the result so far:

A flyby video of the entire scene can be seen here: Flyby Video. I also built collisions for barrels, doors, cactus, and cliff walls.

Today is Halloween! 1 year ago I was still learning to model characters (still am). Back then, I was playing around by modeling a costume set from Idolmasters for Halloween 2017:

As you can see, it's quiet a dated version of her model and unfortunately this dress is no longer compatible with the current armature and deformations. However, there were many props from long ago that I can still use. The following old but still good looking hat has been implemented for next extra-early demo release:

(Don't mind the hair it's an old version of itself). Other premade old props that will eventually make it into the game include the following shoes:

A quick note on the timing of the extra-early demo release for people who signed up as a Supporter: Patreon checks if I have fulfilled benefits every month, however, since I announced the addition of extra-early demos halfway into the month (October 12th), Patreon hassles me to fulfill it by October 31st (which is 18 days of work). I scheduled to release it before November 12th (full 30 days of work, thus one demo every month like intended). This is just to clear confusion if people were expecting a demo release already. Don't worry! It's on schedule! But anyways, Happy Halloween!
