Another video that took way more time than I expected. I wanted to one-shot the whole cursed series. I've never been a fan of Redneck Rampage and have no nostalgia for it. The last time I played through it was in DOSBox in like 2010, and I didn't care for it then either. Rides Again is better but.... ehhhhh... I'm glad it's over now. Some people in the discord got a sneak peak of this in it's rough cut form, a thing I occasionally do. Had to generate a new invite link for the patron discord which will replace the old one. Next video should be EXTREME RISE OF THE TRIAD, which I've captured most of the footage for. If you've never played it... it's an experience.

If you'd like to have a different name in the credits than what you pledged with, leave me a comment, or DM me on here or Twitter or discord or whatever. If your name is wrong, not included, or anything else, shoot me a message calling me an asshole and telling me to fix it.

Or if you want one of those fancy colored names that everyone gets now if they want. The credits in the video are usually a couple of days behind the actual patron list.

He did it boys! He did it. But now what are we supposed to nag him to do?

Taxman Andrews

I thought you said you didn't like redneck rampage... Don't tell me you're running out of boomer shooters. I don't think my heart could take it.

Adam Lynn Keasey

This is gonna be good. I'm from Arkansas, so I like to joke that I'm legally required to like this game.

Raul Campos

This is gonna be good 😊

Hey Civvie did you happen to play the new Ultrakill update?

JANK 💥 JANK 💥 JANK 💥 JANK 💥

Zan the Bonebreaker

Is that a double Doom 3 shotgun on the thumbnail? That's like twice as good as the Doom 3 shotgun.

Star wars Jedi outcast could be cool too! Sick video :)

Always appreciate the work you put into these videos! I've never played Redneck Rampage and after this video I can safely say I never will.

maybe it was deliberate because you meant to make fun of rednecks but 9 in roman numerals is "IX", not "VIIII". at 25:49

I have always hated this game. I bought it when it was new with allowance money (think I was 11 or 12), and this fuckin piece of shit game I couldn't get off the first level and the music was pissing me off so bad. What a stain on the Build legacy.

Maktaka

I have this game as part of an Interplay bundle which I got as a kid, but my parents wouldn't let me play it because of its crude and violent themes, and I forgot I have it in my CD cabinet long ago, until now anyway. Instead I was "stuck with" Dark Forces and Jedi Knight as a kid, replaying those over and over. Apparently I was protected from a foulness which they never even realized, and after watching this video I see no reason to stop heeding their words.

Kadah

I liked this game back in the day, but also haven't touched it possibly since 2000. Gonna be funny to see how well it held up 20something years later.

Xatrix - the pinnacle of incest

Valora Inverse

Absolutely love and appreciate the cut-to-ending gag at the start, and the immediate riff on the game's ending at the end. Also, thank you for enduring this so that my curiosity about the game gets sated without having to go into it myself.

The “Wako” level is a reference to the Wako siege in Texas that lasted 6 days where the ATF burned down a religious compound killing the children inside. Kind of a dark reference.

oh my god ....................... you've done it

Tripp Andre

Great Sunday treat, Civvie. It was my dinner entertainment, and the video was laugh out loud funny at times, so thank you for that. I remember the first two levels of this game.... and that's it. I think that memory about sums it up in terms of quality.

Bravo, Civvie.

Thom Venables-Gordon

So I had this game when I was about 13 and I strongly remember giving up at that fucking sewer level. In my head that was the second or third level. Looks like I got further into the game than I thought!

You're a good man, Civvie. I never had much nostalgia for this game either. The game as a whole is just weird, and not in a good way.

Anonymous

Did you just low key kill the sewer count gag?

Brian Rich

I only have fond memories of this one because of the soundtrack, and I still have that CD-ROM to this day. Though I wonder if the fact that the main character pronounces "Xatrix Entertainment" means it's not actually pronounced that way.

Jerom Sanders

I missed those Gordon Ramsey clips.. Keep em coming!

While simultaneously bringing back the Gordon Ramsey gag??

I think most people will agree with me that we don't like Redneck Rampage on it's own merits, we recognize that it's a heavily flawed game at best and downright terrible at worst, we just happen to really love the idea behind it, which is why it's probably the Build Engine game(besides Blood of course) that most needs a reboot

Nitesco

Great, funny video that I found informative as someone that's never played any Redneck Rampage. Gotta say though, I don't think that the Wolfman or Dracula would appreciate being put next to Joss Whedon like that.

Pro Marathon when, Civvie?

Of all the FPS games for my dad to get into and like, it had to be Redneck Rampage. I wish I'd gotten him to play Doom, but them's the breaks. This was a really fun video, Civvie, and a blast from the past - I heard my dad's incredulous snort from the end of the first episode as clearly as if it had happened last week thanks to you.

10 /10 video civvie

The line about Build games appearing culturally downstream of exploitation movies slayed me, both because it's absurd, and because it's true.

Robert Taylor

Awesome vid, one of your best yet. EDIT Please do Pro Strife, I played it as a kid and loved it but never got far into the game, and I don't remember if it was cos I sucked or cos the game itself was jank, but I remember getting it that first time and being totally blown away by the RPG elements.
