Those last few builds were definitely way buggier than I expected, very sorry about this. But how about this one? As you can tell from its preview number, there were a lot of attempts to fix one bug after another. 😅
Main changes:
- Non-working wipers fixed (by temporary disabling one of features, but it wasn’t that important; going to investigate why it was breaking wipers);
- Various stability issues at launch fixed;
- Windscreen drops fixed (main change, tiny drops are back now);
- Black raindrops in VR fixed;
- Broken clipping with Graphics Adjustments in VR fixed;
- Skinned wipers now supported as well;
- Rainbow look fixed and improved, now it should be visible with default WeatherFX script (visible always, but that will be improved a bit later, with coming WeatherFX integration).
One major bug that I believe is still there is when sprays and rain drops get those black squares, but I’m still figuring that one one. And also, there is a new option in GUI to start the race with throttle pedal now, might be useful.
How to install it?
Most reliable way is to open archive manually, select dwrite.dll and extension folder and drag’n’drop them in AC root folder, so dwrite.dll would be next to acs.exe. You can also use Content Manager to install it, but if you’re not sure how to do that, manual copying for now is the safest way.
Why it doesn’t react to changes of weather type?
It’s still a preview for visual effects. Rest of it, including WeatherFX/Sol integration, is going to follow very soon. Just a couple more visual bugs left to fix.
Is audio broken?
It hasn’t really been worked on yet. Going to be one of next things we’ll be working on, with the help of Peter Boese, the creator of Sol.
What about rain physics?
Check this out, new Content Manager build which can switch on extended physics in Quick Drive automatically! Still pretty experimental though.
