UPD 1: To fix black screen, in Graphics Adjustments switch from Original to something else, that should help. Working on a proper fix. Thanks to @Kinetik for the discovery.

UPD 2: New build, preview14, fixes black screen with original as AA algorithm in Graphic Adjustments.

UPD 3: And preview15 fixes crashes during loading on some tracks. What a mess. I definitely need to think of some testing mechanism.

Very sorry for the previous build, my shaders compiling script had some strange fault so most shader sets (mainly, I believe, the ones without dynamic shadows) were left green (I changed rain shading so color would show marks from wet tyres, changed it back afterwards, but some shaders just weren’t recompiled after that). And, there were a couple of WeatherFX-related issues because of new sky shader, both fixed now. Tested in single, triple and VR, seems to work everywhere, but I’ll keep looking for possible bugs and fixes.

Hi ilja wipers still don't wipe water away from windshield of SCG 003C. Raindrops remain on windshield no matter how fast the wiper works. So far, other cars seem to work fine but this very fine machine is bugged.

Also, some other issues: The headlights flicker like mad during replays (rearlights do that too but not as noticeable) Also, the opacity of raindrops is way too high when close to camera so when rain pours from behind the car (sorry english is not my native language) it looks like columns of rain are cutting the rainpour. Will work on rain drops with low angle cameras, sure. But that isn’t flicker, it’s rain drops sort of getting backlit (it’s like they show a bit blurrier version of stuff going on behind them), not sure how it can be fixed… I’ll try to think of something, thanks!

Oh this is pretty nice, everything is working perfectly fine on my end, I only have a silly question, is there any way of Turning off the Rain and turn on when i want ? cuz right now, It's constantly On, regardless of the Set Weather. and i'd like to have some more control over it

Thanks for the fix, all seems to be working for me again expect the wipers don't do anything with the rain on the windshield. Love that it looks like you are starting to work on spray coming from the rear of cars in this version! Just have to go back to preview 3 to have working wipers for now. REALLY appreciate how much fun you have made this game again. It's best looking rain implementation I've see in a game.

All right, this bug, so confusing… I’m desperately trying to reproduce it here, but so far with no luck. I’ll keep trying to, of course. You said “starting to work on spray”, what do you think is missing? Because I’m not sure where to move next. Maybe it should stay longer or shorter? Thank you so much!

Yo my dude, thanks for the update. Beautiful stuff. ^) Check this out. Got some weird colors coming from the spray, some grayish and green shadows. Something to do with Dynamic Shadows maybe? In my setup, it's looking more like smoke, in comparison to your video plus the blurry screen effect doesn't work for me. https://streamable.com/kj2yt8 I've tested all weather controllers and weather scripts.

I dont like the blur effect of the spray, whilst it has the right effect of obscuring your vision, it doesnt look right. Idk how to send an image on here but i can share on the discord?

Fix is in CM’s untested branch, you can switch in general settings. Going to move it to main branch tomorrow, just need to fully make sure it’s working properly

What you see here is not smoke, it’s spray effect, which still might need some tuning though. For now, this is how it works, forced rain. I’ll work on WeatherFX integration next, just need to fix the bugs As for TAA, not quite sure what’s wrong yet, will search for it

Same here. Only some cars tho... Ferrari 458 Italia is one of them. F40's wipers seem to "move" the drops but not fully remove them (dunno if this is intentional)... Aside from that, thank you very much for the update Ilja :) New splashes are awesome!

Same as Luciano here. This happens only if i set a rain weather in CM. With a sunny weather everything is fine. Edit: if i choose the track state manually it works too, but if i leave it to weather the game crash. i hope this will help you. amazing work anyway. i love it. EDIT2: well idk why, but sometimes it works, sometimes don't... i would like to help but i'm lost atm XD...i'm tring to figure out wich situation is causing the crash...

Rain looks great-but now it´s raining all the time. have to disable it every time manualy ( debug rain ) in game. Setting it to "manual rain control" in CM wont work.

That's working as intended right now. The weather script (as in Sol for example) can't control the amount of rain with scripts yet. Ilja said that this is the next thing he will work on. Either disable it manually, or use the non-rain builds availible to everyone.

Absolutely fantastic. The only issue I've encountered is the spray from other cars seems to make it past the car windscreen and on to the camera (tested with 235i racing). Also, quick question. Do I still need to unpack the car data to enable wet physics?

Absolutely love the new build so far Ilja but so far the smoke seems to be dead now. As someone who does photography and loved to mix the smoke with a post rain track for drifting... things are a bit disappointing with this build. Not sure if i'm the only one struggling with this but the first test i do with every build is a burnout to test the smoke and it was dead in this build..

Hi Ilja - (Update: appears to be a dwrite.dll issue when manually loaded - Fix message appears in CM CSP settings - Click on it and all appears good so far) Thanks for the updates but 15 is crashing on most tracks - When I did get it working it looks good. I do have one question re-use of open cars (RSS FH2020) the rain causes a smear on camera (viewpoint ) also helmets look like droplets pasted in front rather than on - keep up the great work - Cozy61

After it AC crashes I can sometimes force it to start by drag & drop dwrite.dll into AC root folder. It only works right after it has crashed. It's not ideal.

Thanks for nice updates from 13 to 15. But more crash experienced. Selecting kunos track, checking settings>assetto>video>fxaa and settings>csp>gr adj>pp antialiasing to fxaa nvida reduced crash at loading time for my case. Selecting Sol1.5x or Default implementation at wthrfx/wthr script and unchecking rain debug makes weather and rain fx. That was fun. My biggest problem is that interior view new windscreen effect not working. The same happened with preview 13. I tried many several things with preview 13 and finally reinstalled all assetto corsa. My final guess is that it is related with Windows 7. Any one with same problem ?

Can't believe how natural the rain looks! Are there perhaps any settings i need to manually adjust to get it to work? Also something odd i noticed was that the Supra's rear licence plate was visible trough the body in the side views.

Damn - Nonstop crashes on Preview15. Error changes almost every load. Trackrender updates one time GPU Failed or OC ( Never had this , GPU is neither of those ) Reverting for time being. Seems like there are multiple issues this round. Needs more time in the oven.

hey ilja, having only one issue with the build so far. I have red tire smoke for some reason. I changed PP filters and settings in CSP patch and they do nothing. The smoke really bugs me...

Same Dynamictrackmanager::update error for me too. After installing I tried Brands Hatch with the Porsche RSR and received the error 3 times in a row. I then tried the same car on Spa and everything loaded and worked correctly. Second try with Spa loaded but wipers didn't clear the windscreen and third try resulted in the Dynamictrackmanager::update error.

for the guys with crashing, changeyour weather from any non rain weather to any other non rain weather in CM and try again, seems to load. then change weather in game. before exiting the track, use in game weather selector to put it back on a non rain weather. no idea if this has basis in fact on the cause of the crash, but seems to resolve it for me.

WIll it be possible for full release to have a slider to lower the height or opacity of the rain spray, while it is gorgeous, once more than a few cars get on the track it appears like a large "out of focus" area in front of you. Yeah i noticed this on one car where only one wiper clean the water while the other don't but i guess is car related.

Wouldn't that allow players to exploit such a setting... Like allowing a driver to set daytime conditions for a night race to improve visibility. Remember, this is a preview... It is bound to improve.

Hi Ilja, sorry, maybe this has already been answered but I am a patreon since today so please apologize; is it possible to have the rain not always auto-enabled when starting a race under dry conditions? I always need to disable the rain with rainfx debug before starting the session, thats very annoying.

So my initial thoughts from testing this build: 1. Same as everyone else, often get unexpected error and the above error codes in CM when trying to load a rain preset in Sol. Can open them after getting in game. 2. Rain 'scale' seems pretty wrong. The water thrown up from the front wheels, falls off the roof when crashing and particularly hitting the camera seems 3-4 times the size of what it should be. 3. The rain hitting the camera in external views is very annoying - I'm sure it's accurate but perhaps have an option to have the rain appear more in the corners of the image and leave the centre more clear. Forza Motorsport 7 has a fairly good look in this regard, but needs a lot more rain. 4. When using rain debug to turn off the rain, puddles, general wetness, you now also need to turn on car debug and drop wetness from 100% to 0% then zero the normal 3 sliders otherwise you still get drops coming off the car (even with disable drops) and no tyre smoke. 5. Tyre smoke is now just blur, similar to the blur of rain spray behind the car. 6. On some cars (if I remember rightly the Cayman GT4) the rain lands on the interior mirror, and also on other cars the rain strikes 'forwards' onto the wing mirrors even though the car is moving forward and the surfaces face backwards. 7. When wheelspinning on tarmac the water being sprayed back from the wheels is a bit tame and only visible from the side, perhaps make it a bit more noticeable from the rear and make it fly higher and further.

Yes I also find rain drops scale on windscreen too big compared to previous versions. I noticed also that raing drops starting dmension on streams or point are too big, Not a problem if teh stream is located on high building (like box roof in Spa), but really bad if used as I tried on the borders of a gazebo. A possibility to defne a starting scale fro drop dimsnions for strems and point could be really apprecciated, but definetively something to think about at the end, not a priority. Just to point out.

Hello Guys. I had the same bug with dont working wipers. They move but dont move the water away from the windscreen. It sems it has something to do with PP AA in Graphic Adjustments. I tried several settings. Try to use CMAA 2.0 (Intel,2018). Fixed all issues i had. Maybe yours too. :)

Tried by me but didn't solved. Anyway it was on my Notebook I use for modding, I'll compare that settings with the PC on my rig where everything is working so that I can understand if it's related with that specific settings. At least you gave me a way to investigate!

I don't know how looks in VR, but at the moment openwheels are almost impossible to drive for the huge amount of rain impacting your visor/cam making impossible to see the track even without cars in front of you. Ilja already told he has to check that aspect, but I assume decreasing it. Is this effect not in VR mode?

Pretty sure this is just a performance issue on my end, but having the new Rain FX with multiple cars on the field crashes the session for me. I'm using a Ryzen 1600, RX 580 8GB and 16GB 3000MHz RAM for specifications.

Well, I got a question. How to set the amount of the rain? Rain effect is awesome but I don't want it when the sunny days are set. It's always heavy rain.

Not exactly heavy rain, is set to 50% as default. You can control it in game trough WeatherFX Debug App Open it and under Rain debug tab you can control: Rain (default 50%) Wetness (defaut 100%) Water (default 50%) You can also link so that Wetness and Water depend from the rain amount.

I noticed some people don't like the raindrop effect on the screen when driving open wheels or in 3rd person, but I actually love it. Could that be an option in the next patch to turn it on/off? Would love to keep it :D

Haven't changed my AC and today I turn on wanting to make pictures and having weird black particles and black rain drops for some reason. Don't know what is the issue but it might be the latest patch I don't know...

I think no one don't like, simply with some car is almost impossible to see the track and also Ilja wrote he need to better tune that effect. If you own it, try the RSS F2 2020 in Spa with 50% rain, impossible to drive. And by the way you have to think that even if the car have an open cockpit, when driving fast almost no drps reach the visor helmet due to areodinamic flows. So yes the idea to make possible to turn on/off (or make scalable) is a good idea.

Testing rain physic I find that at hign track wetness aquaplaning at low speed (mainly in the tight corners like hairpins) seems a little bit exaggerated/irrealistic compared to the high speed on straights. I understand physic is fully under development, but just to point my 2 cents at the today status. Any way, great job!

I think probably depends also from the view position. I have a 3 monitors setup and set the view exactly to have my real wheel where it should be. With RSS F2 2020 and 50% rain I'm almost blind, if I'll have time this evening I'll post a screenshot in the community posts where you can attach image. so definetivly a good idea as suggested from Mr. Goodbytes baron5898 to make possible to turn it on/off or scaled.

Did not make it too far... also tried Imola with the F1 2005 mod and missed nearly all of my braking points because raindrops were blocking my view xD. I can see getting used to it and using it for immersion purposes as it does add a certain level of difficulty to racing in the rain, but yeah I feel like there needs to be an on/off option

i have the same error like both of you,and my wipers are not wiping,and my tracks dont have puddles,just goes a little darker when set to max

I think that's mainly because the mod can't figure out on its own what the actual surface of the track, so a config has to be made by someone. I think they will become available at least for all of the Kunos tracks a bit after CSP 163 is fully released to the public.
