Good but quiet followup to the fabulous "The Box" two-parter. Oh, Spy Daddy is sooooo adorably awkward, trying to be a dad and ask Sydney about school, but when Sydney makes it real by bringing her issue around to her mother, Jack changes. Van: “What is that look?” What is that look, indeed. Victor Garber’s acting is so subtle that you can read several things into that expression. Then we get to the second scene at the carousel, and Jack is making all of us cry. Spy!Will gets Sydney’s sneaky spy music but with all those unnerving Dutch angles that Lindsey got when he was heisty at W&H in “Blind Date.” I was heartbroken when Francie reacted the way she did, which is not uncommon, but then I realized that Francie had been living Sydney’s normal girl life (going to school, getting engaged), and now she’s in Spy!Sydney’s shoes, learning that the person she loved was living a double life and betrayed her (Sydney learning the truth about her mother). I'm so happy that Francie came back, and they reconciled. I love the show making fun of its ridiculous name for this mysterious new player, “The Man.”
