This candle has no wick. Instead, it automatically lights itself when exposed to darkness. The light appears as a miniscule star above the candle and sheds bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet. Any illusions within the candle's bright light sparkle obviously within that area. After burning for 1 hour, the candle is destroyed. Deduct the time it burned in increments of 1 minute from the candle's total burn time.

The candle doesn't light itself or remain lit in dim or bright light, and it immediately extinguishes whenever it's exposed to dim or bright light. The candle's light doesn't snuff itself or other starlit candles out. You can snuff the candle out early for use at a later time. To do so, you must cover the candle completely with a cloth or scrap of parchment. You can cover or uncover the candle using an action.

The dim hallway twinkled with starlight and stunk of heady smoke. Through it, the duchess saw her guests for who they truly were, without the glamors or tricks common to the elite that came calling.
