It's 11/11, make a wish! Here's what I got done this week:
- Finished line art for Drawing #2
- Began setting up Drawing #3
- Continued trying to make lighting on the 3D model look good
Hoo boy, I'm gonna save the 3D stuff for last.
So first off and most exciting: I finished the line art for Drawing #2! I finished up the hair and clothes for the ladies and added some extra background and foreground elements to make it a little more lively. As with the first drawing, I'm waiting to do the coloring and shading until all three drawings are ready for it.
Speaking of which, the third drawing is underway! It's by far the simplest of the three, featuring only one giantess and two tinies, both of which will be extra simple to draw due to their... "transformed" state. You'll see. So far, I have the giantess's pose planned out. All that's left in the planning stage is the tinies and the overall composition. I originally wanted it to be a landscape drawing, but I think this one will work best as a portrait (more height that width).
And now for the Blender part. I know, I know. I said I wasn't gonna work on the model until after I finished the drawings, but c'mon, we all knew that wasn't gonna last. Anyways, I've been struggling hard trying to get the model's face to look the way I want it to. I've played with the normals again and again, but nothing I do with them looks right. I just got through toying with the lights and switching between renderers (Eevee vs. Cycles) and I think I'm finally onto something, there. We'll see if it bears fruit soon enough.
More than anything, I want to eliminate every ounce of uncanniness this model exudes. This is certainly a tricky issue to tackle for a first-timer, but I'll get there. It'll just take more time.
But don't worry, I didn't leave Blender empty-handed this week! In my obsession with lighting, I managed to fix some noticeably bad shadows on the navel and in the area between the breasts. I went half crazy doing so, but I did it! :D (I'm gonna need a vacation soon at this rate...)
Anyhoo, that's it for now! I'm gonna go eat some Taco Bell before I inevitably have recurring nightmares about lighting in Blender. I'll see you guys again next week!
