I just don't think I agree that a season finale always has to be a SEASON FINALE. To me, the unpredictability of the Darla arc being resolved early, and the season ending with something quite different is part of the fun. Darla was never the Big Bad of the season anyway, and after two seasons, I think it's safe to say that maybe Angel (the show) doesn't feel the need to always have a Big Bad. And without a Big Bad, maybe it doesn't always have a season-long arc either.

I agree with you about the finale. Angel doesn’t really do season long big bads and that’s something that I love that makes it different from Buffy. It’s more unpredictable that way. But when you say, “the Darla arc being resolved early” I don’t think I agree with that. The Darla arc wasn’t really resolved at all. She’s still out there. But I love that. Not everything needs to be wrapped up in a neat bow. Leaving someone like that around to possibly pop back up is cooler than just killing her. The Angel story kind of flows between seasons in that way

First time I was watching this season,yeah, the Pylea Arc definitely felt, well misplaced and odd. But once a bit of Season 3 gets going, it makes a lot of sense why it's where it is in the series. And on rewatching it's a very pleasant respite from what's going down on both shows. Shit about to get craaaaazzzeeee. Oh, by the way, no need to fib about the "people working on the other apartment". We know it's just the furries you've got chained up in the basement trying to escape. We all go through it. Just keep em well fed and they'll quiet down. Heh.
