Woody guy! These guys were bound to get featured eventually, you all know me~

This time they're clad from head to toe in foliage camouflage. They might be more man-like, but they still burrow in the swamp they dwell in, and they can spit out nuts and rocks, and whatever they decide to stuff their sappy beak with...

The last one is a little bonus! I was giving a shot to a mossy look, a little similar to body hair. I may keep it in some form or another...

Extra lore time!

Scrubs are a tribe, but they act more like a hive. Every scrub hunts and gathers fruits and herbs to offer to the Deku King. In return, the Deku King is the one that "produces" new Scrubs - it receives a special sap from its tribesmen during a fluid exchange process similar to copulation, and that sap gestates in the king's body.

Every year, the Deku King plants this special sap in special patches of soil, so it can eventually grow into Deku Scrubs. The king's diet enriches that sap - a plump and rotund king means its progeny will be healthier and stronger.

Functionally, most Deku Scrubs are male, while the Deku "King" is the only female who's allowed to receive sap. They live relatively short lives, but they reach full maturity in only a few months... a bit like dogs, in a way! This fellow is what a mature Deku Scrub is like - they're a bit like little wooden trolls, or gnomes.

Once they reach the end of their lifetime, Deku Scrubs don't actually die – they become trees! Or plants, or whatever species of flora they're derived from.

I really love the lore! I love unique biology situations like this, and I may actually adapt some of the ideas into a plant based culture of my own if that's ok! Do they still chat and interact and such when they become full trees, or do most just settle down into a sleepy passive state?

Be my guest! I'm curious what you'll do with it~ Yeah, I think they would still retain some ability to speak. They would mature into trees much like the ones found in the Dark World, where they're capable of speaking and tricking people... Though frankly, I'd hate to end up in a forest of these trees. They still need nutrients, don't they?!
