Greetings adventurers!

I’m an enjoyer of a beach vacation from time to time. Getting away from the hustle and bustle of my shop and the city and retreating to a tropical local where the sun is warm and the drinks flow freely is just what I need. Thankfully teleportation access has improved to the point that it’s much less of a hassle than it used to be. One day I was walking along for a stroll when I met an individual I had never seen the likes of prior. A Maxolotl they called themselves and they were curious about my reasons for visiting the beach. I informed them of my desire to stroll and enjoy the beauty of the place. We hit it off with some more conversation and after spending a week with their pod via some water breathing trinkets, they gifted me with something most special.

Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play for D&D and Pathfinder 2E. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

Design notes from Matthew:

As we continue our sea themed One More Thing releases, Fernando just became obsessed with axolotls for a bit. I mean it’s understandable. They’re freaking adorable little buggers and I’m completely unsurprised that he would find them fun and want to illustrate them. I was on board from the moment I started reading about their restorative properties and some of their interesting potential when it comes to development of medications. I thought it would be fascinating to really focus in on the restorative properties and let them share that with the world around them.

When I was designing the 5E version. I knew that I should instantly play around with hit dice. The idea of modifying a mechanic that isn’t usually touched by magic items is always appealing to me. I like being able to offer different ways to engage with the game in a meaningful way. I thought being able to share that special hit die would be a very unique feature and something that would make folks want to stay attuned to it as it benefits the whole party.

Designing for PF2E, well there’s no short rests or hit die to take advantage of, so I thought the next obvious thing to work around would be treating wounds. A basic item bonus was enough to offer a bit of passive help there. On both versions I opted for a more powerful active component to fill out the backend and offer some healing to the individual wearing the amulet. Thankfully regeneration is a more universal mechanic so I just had to get the language correct!

This amulet is the first part of our One More Thing release for the month, so you can expect the other later in the day. I can wait to get the Maxolotl in your hands as well. They’re good boys and they’re freaking adorable. I think you’ll have a great time adding them to your games!

We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.
