Hello Supporters!

Today I have a quick time lapse for you, in  which I'm building a relatively unspectacular thumbnail featuring a  waving dForce Flag as a hero. I've made this for a clip that's going live today on the Daz channel, and since I've caught the process on camera I narrated what I'm doing.

It  starts in Blender, where I'm building the flag object, defining  material zones and stencil paint the logo on it. Then I export the  object and texture over to Daz Studio and setup dForce like I've explained in the video for which this thumbnail is intended. The second hour was then spent  getting the lighting right in Stonemason's new Streets of Medieval set.

All  in all it took about 2 hours to make, and probably another hour or two  for the time lapse. I'll try to do these a little more often, it's  really easy to let OBS record my screen at 10fps with little to no  overhead on my workstation.

In other news: I've invested into a  bit of new/old computer equipment today. There's a piece of hardware  made by HP specifically for the Z workstations called a Turbo Drive.  It's a rather large PCIe card that can house up to 4 M2 drives, has  active cooling and can reach seriously high read/write speeds. I'm not  sure how this magic works, but it's apparently faster than the regular  M2 controllers of which I have two right now. I've also ordered two EVO  980 Pro drives, so there are no disruptions to my current workflow.

If  and how all this works in practice remains to be seen, but I'm hoping  it'll elevate my editing workflow. I usually edit at 2-3x speed, which  can cause issues during preview if multiple video tracks need to be  played back at the same time. The result is stuttering video with OK  audio.

On Saturday I'm going to do a stream over on the Daz  channel, in which I'll explain how to create your own HDRIs from  existing (heavy) scenes. It'll be a nice chillaxed session, here's a link with your local start time. Drop by and say hi!

Have a wonderful weekend and I'll see you next time 👋
