Hello Supporters!

Today I have a quick early access video for  you that gives you a preview of Zev0's new Shape Shift product. It'll be  released on November 30th, and I've just finished editing it. Enjoy!

Speaking  of editing, I've ordered a new toy that has arrived this week, and I'm  about to install it in my workstation: it's called a HP Z Turbo Drive Quad Pro,  a rather long PCIe card that can house up to 4 M2 drives on a single  controller. It's got active cooling and some super capacitors inside,  which will keep the drives from throttling due to overheating, and more  importantly let them finish writing files in case of a power cut or  kernel panic.

One drive can be allocated as the boot drive, while  three can be data drives. This will free up the two single cheap-o  controller I have for the current two drives I use for Windows and for  editing. I've also ordered a couple of Samsung EVO 980 Pro drives that  I'd like to turn into a RAID 1 stripe for even faster editing. I've  bought all this because my current setup is getting full, partly because  our large Dropbox team folder, through which we share video footage  between continents (which sounds crazy when I say it like that). When I  was editing on my own, I used the second M2 drive for footage, but the  Dropbox is located on my system drive and it impacts editing and Windows  performance negatively so Dropbox needs to be moved off the system  drive. With this larger setup, I'm hoping to make future editing a  breezier experience.

New hardware always means potential  issues, so if you don't hear from me for a few days, it means I'm buried  deep in a possible Windows re-installation 😁 (let's hope it doesn't  come to that). I'll take some pictures of the new hardware and will let  you know how the adventure goes.

Have a wonderful week, and I'll speak to you soon!

Ohhhhhh that is gonna be good :o

Fuksake

Raid is really the next frontier. I run 2xM2 on my motherboard in Raid-0, and 2 Samsung EVO Pro 980s (also Raid-0) for "slower" storage. Daz is the first application I've really worked with, that truly benefits from that kind of overkill. Having the M2s on a PCIe is going to be absolutely epic, you'll love it :D
