Adam Cole isn't the only person with their NXT deal coming up soon. Fightful Select has learned that Pete Dunne's NXT contract is also up soon, with one source also pointing to "after Summerslam weekend," though we haven't confirmed that date with Dunne or WWE as of yet.

Fightful has heard that the situation was "similar to that of Adam Cole's" but haven't been given any additional details besides that his contract is in fact coming up soon. We haven't been told if Dunne's contract actually expired as Cole's did, leading to a short-term extension. We'll work to gain more details.

We have reached out to Dunne and WWE for comment

Sheesh, Taz was spot on when he said they run a sloppy shop

At this point, I'm starting to believe the NXT contracts were in Carano's own Excel spreadsheet and they recently gained access to it.

I'm sure Dunne will resign with WWE. I'd love to see the cuffs taken off of him because he's so good.

Both of these guys could still re-sign with NXT. For NXT's sake they might want to do all they can to retain.

How are multiple contracts being overlooked like this? Malaki’s 90 day being 30, Cole’s expiring, now Dunne’s. This is a big, experience company, not a small mom and pop.

Who’s keeping track of these contracts for WWE? Johnny Ace is doing a Bang up job in talent relations! Dang!

Honor is Real, baby!!

Dear lord. I know they downsized/eliminated departments but how are they getting more and more inept in keeping track of their own talent's contracts? Also it seems very telling that it's yet another NXT contract that's being affected.

In the Q&A of asked if you were sitting on any scoops. What an answer for me this is lol.

Pete Dunne feels like a very similar situation to Adam Cole. He’s almost peaked in NXT, all I can see him do is win the big one, but I don’t know what they would do with him on the main roster.

Damian Bushay

Wow lol. NXT is finished

Shaunna Wolensky

WTF is going on in NXT?!?! This is ridiculous!!

Elaquent

I would love to see a pete dunne G1 run

Kyle Cotton

If Triple H can’t retain at least one these talents given how much of a believer he is in both of them given that he built both his brands around them WWE as a whole is in trouble in terms of their ability to recruit. Both those guys fully bought into NXT, if you loss them it really is the beginning of the slow death.

I’m good for Dunne going anywhere and being a star.

Raul Ortega

You either resign with main roster money and stay on the developmental brand or you resign and get moved to the main roster for a possible repackage

Dave Stroble

I’m thinking this is less oversight and more not renewing the contracts of people that HHH likes.

TraptinAmerica

The practice of being able to stay in NXT as long as you want is over and we're going to see more "Not Vince guys" flushed out of the system regardless of how over they might get elsewhere

e d

people used to say it was almost a curse when Paul E would push for certain people or go to bat for them, perhaps same thing is happening with HHH.

At this rate and I may catch some shit for saying this but you have to ultimately wonder if Vince is going to shutdown the NXT program as we know it. There is no way that you miss these contracts expiring. If this was last year they are keeping up on this. Just seems like a serious after thought that again won’t be shocked if you see them either get shutdown or completely change formats.

Given all of the releases since Wrestlemania of talent and office staff alike, the rumors of Nick Khan prepping WWE for sale start gaining more credibility in my mind.
