Mike Bennett on John Cena, who got him into ROH, worst advice (Patreon)

Mike Bennett spoke to me about some of the extra work he did in WWE, and remembered doing a hand gesture that was a little too similar to that of John Cena's "you can't see me" motion. He said that Cena came up to him and told him to never do it again. He tried to explain things before he realized he was best off just saying "yes sir." He thought he'd never work for WWE again after that. Bennett said he would have reacted the same way, and he likes John Cena. He was brought back for extra work a couple weeks later. Mike Bucci, aka Nova and Simon Dean was trying to get Bennett signed.

Bobby Cruise helped get him shots at ROH, and Bennett says that when he'd go into ROH, Gabe would tell him he was pretty sure WWE would sign him. ROH didn't want to bring him in if he was just going to sign with WWE. His TNA enhancement match happened because of Terry Taylor. Billy Gunn found him early in the evening and made sure he knew how to work in a six-sided ring. Their match got moved from first to last....after AJ Styles vs. Kurt Angle.

He said Ty Bailey from WWE's talent relations gave him the worst advice he's received. He told Bennett he looked different, but not unique enough. If you remember WWE's hiring back then, you'll know why that was weird.
