Sarah: Saturday, 1:49 pm

“Cody!”  I call out, just as surprised as they were to find myself standing on our deck overlooking the yard.  “Don’t you dare take one more step with that wicked woman.”  Cody and Crystal turn to look at me.  I walk to the edge of the steps waving beckoning Cody to me.  “Come here sweetie.  Get away from her.”

“Sweetie?”  Crystal clutches to her boyfriend’s arm.  “He ain’t your fuckin sweetie.”

“Get off of him!”  I snap, my voice sharp with anger.  I had used that tone only a handful of times in my whole life but seeing the kindly young man there looking so defeated triggered inside of me deeply ingrained instincts of protection and care.  “He said he doesn’t want you anymore.”  Looking to Cody, my eyes pleading with him, I hold out my arms.  “Come here baby.  It’s gonna be okay.”

Crystal pulls him back from me.  “Fuck off, bitch.  This ain’t your concern.”

I ignore her and take a step down as I continue to try to coax Cody to me.  “Come here.”

“He’s not going anywhere with you.”  Crystal seethes.  “We’re movin out of this shit hole garage and this whole shit hole town.  Tell her Cody.”

“Uh…”

“It’s okay Cody.”  I say.  “Come away now.  Don’t listen to her sweetie.  Just come here now.”

“Um.”  Cody looks back and forth between Crystal and I.  The poor boy looking lost.  “I can’t Sarah.  She’ll tell…him.”

“It’s okay Cody.”  I smile warmly.  “He already knows.  He knows how you feel.  He doesn’t hate you Cody.  He likes you very much.”  My smile grows.  “You’re his go to guy.”  I could see that my words were getting through so I keep going.  “He knows about Faith.  He knows about everything.  She can’t hurt you Cody.”

“Bullshit.”  Crystal calls my bluff.  “She’s lying.”

Unfortunately, on the topic of Faith, the shrewd woman had surmised correctly.  Faith was Alfred’s pride and joy and he was her loving Papa.  While I knew about our daughter’s promiscuous ways my husband had remained blissfully innocent of them.  Their relationship was as wholesome as could be.  Faith preferred it that way, I preferred it that way, and Alfred lived happier that way.  It worked all around.  Honestly I didn’t know how Alfred would react to finding out about Faith and her wild ways, especially as it related to Cody, but that would be a bridge to cross later.  Right now my only thought is getting Cody to safety.

“Don’t listen to her.  Come here Cody.”  I take another step down, arms outstretched.  “You’re not a loser.  You are a fine, honorable man.  She doesn’t deserve a man like you, just like you said.”

“Ha!  She just wants your big cock baby.  Just like the rest of the girls.  She acts sweet but she’s no different.”  Crystal says.  “Alfred’s not satisfying her.  She told me herself.  She’s been watching us.  She wants what I have.”  Her eyes narrow.  “But it’s not enough to share, is it Sarah?  You want him all to yourself.”

If only what she said was lies I might have been able to comeback with something cutting of my own.  But somewhere down there, wayyyyy down deep inside of me, was a greedy, lustful little voice urging me to get rid of the competition.  With Crystal out of the way…all of my selfish fantasies could come true.  Hearing that deviant voice coming from my own libidinous soul fills me with shame.

“See!  See!  She doesn’t deny it.  She just wants your body baby.”  She pulls Cody back a step.  “This desperate old housewife is just after what her husband can’t give her.  She’s using him to get to you.  You’re pathetic Sarah!”

“No!”  I say, my maternal need to protect overwhelming the guilt that threatened to paralyze me.  “No.  Her words are poison Cody.  Just come to me sweetie.”  I gaze into his eyes, beseeching him to free himself from her.  “Everything’s gonna be okay.”

My heart lifts as Cody steps away from Crystal.  My support giving him the confidence again to stand up to her he turns to Crystal and without a word pries her hands off of his arm.

“That’s it Cody.  There’s a good lad.”

“Baby.  No.”  Crystal whispers to him.  “Not like this.  Not to her, not to them!  They’ve got you all confused baby.  You’re not thinking straight.  You know how easy you get confused.  That’s all, you’re just confused baby.”

Cody stands tall, takes a deep breath then says to her with perfect calm.  “Kenji is from Japan.”

“What?”

“Kenji lives in Japan, not Korea.”

“That chess guy?  What are you…?”

“Twice I told you that.  But you never really listened, did you?”

“That’s got nothing to do with anything!”

“It’s everything.”  He says.  “Goodbye Crystal.”  He backs away from her a couple of steps then turns and comes to me.  Still on the second step of the stairs I stand taller than him as I welcome him into my arms.  “Oh!”  He gasps as he suddenly finds himself clutched to my bosom.

“You mother fucker.”  Crystal growls as she stares at us with wounded anger.  “Fine.  I ain’t gonna beg, no matter how good the dick, but you best believe I ain’t leavin quiet.”

“Just go away Crystal.”  I say, holding the dear boy protectively as I stare daggers back at Crystal with an anger to match hers.

“Where is old shrimpy quick dick anyway?”  Crystal sneers as she looks past us to the house.  “Let’s get him out here and have this out.  ALFRED!  You in there wimp!?”  She calls.  “You wanna hear about your baby girl?  I got tales to tell ya about Faith boss man.  And I’m sure she’s gonna wanna hear all about what’s goin on here too.”

I glare at her with a twisting hatred I didn’t even know myself capable of.  To belittle and manipulate this poor, sweet, innocent boy was one thing.  To insult me another.  But threaten my King!?  Over my dead body!

“You are not welcome here anymore!”  I shout.  “Get off of our property before I call the cops.”

“You can’t call the cops.  I live here!”

“Oh but I can.  He pays the rent and his is the only name on the lease, remember?”  I say.  “You probably didn’t want to be on the hook if anything went sour here, huh?  Well you’re off the hook now.”  I tremble as I build up the moxie to say.  “Consider this an eviction…bitch!”

Crystal comes at me and, for the very first time in my life, I don’t flee from the threat of violence but scramble toward it!  She might be bigger, stronger, and younger than me but this Mama Bear was gonna FIGHT!

Thank God Cody was there.  For all my fire and fury Crystal had me on the ground and was ready to pummel me in a matter of seconds.  There’s some screaming, some hair pulling, and a few parting kicks but somehow Cody is able to separate us with a minimum of damage.

With two on one Crystal soon realized she was fighting a lost cause.  She says a few more hurtful things and promises all sorts of nasty retribution but to his credit Cody stands resolute against her.  She eventually concedes defeat, hastily packs a bag, and walks out of his life.  Hopefully forever.

When the dust had cleared and the noise settled Cody turns to me, his smile as bright as the summer sun overhead.  “YES!”  It was a cry of joy and liberation.  “YES!!!”

“Ooo!”  Grabbing me he heaves me up over his head and spins me around before placing me back down again and hugging me tightly.

“Thank you!  Thank you Sarah!”

“Aww, it was nothing.”  I say happily.  “It was mostly you.  You really stood up for yourself.  I’m proud of you.”

“He he he.” He blushes.  “My Queen.”

“It’ll all be for the best.  You’ll see.”

“What if she talks to Alfred?”

“We’ll talk to him first.”  I say.  “And tell him the truth.”

“Yeah.”  He takes a deep breath and looks skyward.  “Hahhhh.  It’s a new beginning.  A new Cody.”

“Look out world!  Ha ha ha!”

Just then, as we are laughing and sharing this moment, Alfred comes stepping out the patio door rubbing his eyes, his hair disheveled from his nap.  “What’s goin on?  You guys start the barbecue without me?”  Cody and I look at each other and laugh even harder.  My poor befuddled husband only then notices that we were in each other’s arms.  He had no idea just how innocent this celebratory embrace was.  His face falls in a look of jealous surprise, but despite himself I could also see those cuckold fires burning in those wide eyes.  “Wh-What’s going on here?”
