Dear patrons,

 I just uploaded an optimized version of v008P - the link is in the "BEWARE voo8 Preview" post. On my rig, I'm getting roughly 20fps more, hopefully you will see  a significant performance increase on your end too. This is good news regarding the merging of the old and new maps. I've also learned quite a bit more about optimizing, and pinpointed those elements that are slowing the game down.

As of now, 2/3 of the final map is done! In technical terms, this means 6 out of the planned 9 terrain tiles. If I take into consideration that the 1st tile, the demo terrain, took me 8 months to craft, I'm pretty happy with my progress speed and makes me super confident that I can pull it off by myself (the whole map).

Since June, I'm working on the 7th terrain tile and that one will be quite special - not only visually but also because the road layout will be different every time you enter it. That will be the "semi-procedural" part of the world I was wishing to implement.

So basically my plan is to finish the whole game map first, and then populate it with story, missions, that encompass the whole world. I've always worked like this while creating my animation films - first, creating the universe, then, while absorbing and contemplating it, creating the life inside it.

At the same time, I'll be creating the dangers that are specific to each region, just like I did with the mining dump trucks.
