Well, I would like to know how you created your tiger? is your fursona? owo

Sugar Sammy

How do you get/stay creative? I paint models alot and when coming up with designs, I literally have no creativity so it's hard for me to just come up with anything original. I'm really good at replicating things when I paint, but I'm never doing anything original. How do you generate creativity?

What got you into furry?

dreamandnightmare

Yes, my tiger Night is my fursona. :3 Creating him was kind of a emotional rollercoaster. When I joined the furry fandom, I immediately knew I wanted to choose a tiger because they are my absolute favorite animals. Over time, the details like the scars over his right eye and his torn right ear came to be as part of some personal history that happened to me when I was young. They were mementos of things that happened and served as a reminder how these things changed me. I have dealt with these things and come to terms with them, but they are a part of me and that's why I wanted to represent it in my fursona. When I started drawing and I could turn more of my ideas into pictures, I knew I wanted to have my fursona be flexible. I usually have so many different ideas that I didn't want to limit myself. That's why the look of my tiger can change from picture to picture depending on the idea. At one point I imagined him to be a high school coach and that is how Coach Night came into existence. He is one incarnation of my fursona that is still seperate from my regular tiger, but I just like this idea so much that I keep going back to him. Because while I was in high school, I hated gym classes, in part due to my teachers. So in that way Coach Night is my way of dealing with that. Because I always imagine him as being a super sweet and supportive guy that helps all of his students and brings out the best in them. :3 So yeah, I hope that answered your question. :3

I'm assuming you are painting Warhammer 40k models? I think you mentioned Warhammer before, so let me know if I'm right or wrong. x3 I learned that creativity is nothing that I can force to happen. Sometimes I will struggle with drawing for a while and am unable to think of new ideas. The solution that works for me is that I just distance myself from it for a bit. Because drawing is a big passion of mine, I will start to miss it at some point and want to go back. And then the ideas come all by themselves. :3 So if painting models is something you are passionate about and enjoy, don't force yourself if you are not feeling creative. Creating something original is incredibly hard and it can never truly be done in my opinion. Because the way creativity works, is that is always influenced by something. Basically: You see things that influence you and your mind processes them, combines them in a new way and then you turn it into something of your own. There is a great book called "How to steal like an artist" that explaines very well how that works. Imagine wanting to paint a picture of a tree: You go out and see a row of 4 trees outside. Creativity basically means that you decide which of these trees you like best and decide to put on a picture. The trees were already there, so it's nothing "original" that you paint, but you personally decided that you wanted to draw this specific tree - and that is what makes it original. Hope that helps. x3

Mostly cartoon series I watched as a kid. I was a big fan of lots of the "western" style disney cartoons. Rescue Rangers, Talespin, Darkwing Duck, Gargoyles, etc. But what really got me into the whole furry thing was a cartoon series called "Extreme Dinosaurs". It was basically a knockoff of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - which I also loved - that featured big anthropomorphic muscular dinosaurs in tight shorts. I still remember how giddy I was when I saw the series being announced. They had the genius idea of showing just a black screen and you would hear the voices of the characters. It got me super hyped up. The series itself got me so hooked that I started drawing fanart when I was really young, probably 9 or 10. I just absolutely loved it. However, I never really expressed my love for these cartoons to others. I was used to being an outsider as a kid. Even though I usually had one or two friends, I was often made fun of or outright bullied. So that led me to being reclusive about a lot of things that I liked. I rather spent my time on the computer, playing games than to go out and play with other kids. So when I discovered I was gay at the age of 13, not a whole lot changed for me. I kept to myself and so that was just another thing to add to the list of things I didn't tell anybody. I knew my way around the internet and was able to find the porn I liked - which was mostly on japanese hentai sites, because they were the ones that had gay content. When I was 14, I switched schools because I was bullied so much. After that a lot changed for the better. I had found new friends and classmates and was finally feeling good about myself. At the age of 15, I got tired of looking at the same human porn art and wished there were more animal characters around. By that time I was pretty sure, I was the only person on the planet that felt that way. x3 I was so used to being "that weird kid" that I didn't even consider the alternative anymore. Finally, through some links I came across the first furry websites : A whole new world opened up before me and I realized that I wasn't alone! Imagine how relieved i was! x3 And yeah, the rest is pretty much history! :3

What's you favorite game/game series?

Siber

I'm just interested in your whole drawing process. I guess you use photoshop? You use a cintiq or intuos? You have a very particular style, would love to see some in betweens, or streams where you apply the depth and lighting effect on your paintings. You still use a lot of construction? Or does the anthro body come natural to you now. You use your own brushes? Sorry to hear you were bullied so much. All the more happy you're in the place you are now <3

Favorite game: Deus Ex, by far. Favorite game series is Half-Life along with Jedi Knight. :3 I first got introduced to Star Wars through the first Jedi Knight game when I was a kid, even before I saw the movies. So that will always be a cherished memory. The Half-Life games were the ones that impressed me beyond anything that I thought was possible in games at that time. I still love going back to them. And Deus Ex is my favorite game because it's one of the most engaging games I have ever played. The writing and the ideas they had back then are even more relevant today, because they discussed topics like the freedom of the individual, global surveillance disguised as a means to keep people save, governments bowing to big corporations, etc. They often say that games only "grew up" in terms of seriousness recently, but Deus Ex was so ahead of its time, that it's kinda scary. Plus, in addition to all of that, the gameplay is incredibly rewarding and fun, with lots of different approaches you can take. It is perfectly possible, and especially in the beginning encouraged, that you play the game without killing one single enemy. An honorable mention is Planescape Torment, which is one of the best written games that I have ever played with the best story in games written period. It's only shortcomings are it's dry presentation and lots of text to read. That can make the game feel very tedious at times.

whats your favorite piece of artwork? from the mona lisa to widdle ghost! what would you say resonates with you the most?

Yes, I do use Photoshop. I use an older version, CS4, because it basically has all the features I need. That's why I never upgraded to any of the newer versions (also because of the monthly costs involved). The drawing tablet I use was called a Wacom Bamboo when I got it, but it's called a Wacom intuos now. It's relatively small, but also very cheap. I heard that Wacom changed their line of production somewhere down the line to make the newer tablets more fragile, so you would need to replace them every few years, but the old one I have, still holds up after a very long time. My whole drawing process can be seen in in a timelapse video I made two years ago. Here are the links: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCEyX-2LLQc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAY1ULjRKZM Both are of the same picture, but the first one is 10 minutes long with music and the second one is 45 minutes long, without music. The second one is more for people who want to get a better understanding of the way I work. For poses, I use a 3D program called Daz Studio. It allows me to pose and edit 3d anatomic models, that I can then I use as a foundation for my sketch. The reason I do that is because I find it very hard to come up with a pose from just blank paper. Using the program I can play around with poses and perspective and it's basically like I would use a live model of an actual person, because the program respects the boundaries of how the human body behaves - at least in basic principle, it's still a very simple program after all. But it gives me a good idea of what a pose would look like and it takes a lot of stress out of the drawing process. I do use some of my own brushes, but mostly for special effects like fur texture or body hair. You can see it in the video. For the most part I use regular brushes. And thanks. :3 When I realized that a lot of people in the furry fandom have a history of being bullied or had negative experiences growing up, it really made me feel even more at home. I have come to terms with it and I'm a much more confident person than I was as a child. :3

That is very difficult to answer. I usually have a hard time picking "a favorite" out of anything - I'm glad I can at least point to my favorite game and even in that response I named multiple ones x3 The works of Wookiee ( https://www.furaffinity.net/user/wookiee ) have influenced me a lot as an artist. Sadly, he doesn't draw anymore, but his work in anatomy, composition and expression will always be a defining element for me. For me he really understood the sensual side of furry erotica and I admire that. Other than that, even after being in the fandom for over 15 years now, I'm still constantly amazed by the great work of so many artists. There are always new pieces that impress me and I think that's a good thing. :3 When it comes to my own art, I think one of my favorites is definitely this one: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/21002769/ It was a huge challenge for me to work on that back in 2016 and I was so worried that I would not live up to my own expectations. But the finished picture came out exactly the way I wanted and I'm proud of that. :3

How much did the furry fandom influence your life personally? Good and/or bad?

dreamandnightmare

It's not an understatement when I say that it changed my life completely. As I mentioned before, when I started looking for anthropomorphic characters, I was convinced that I was the only one in the world, who was interested in that. And that I was a bit of a loner, because I always used to be that one kid, that doesn't fit in with the group. That changed when I became part of the Furry Fandom. It honestly felt like I was finally "home". There were some good and some bad experiences along the way, because after all furries are only people and there are always gonna be some good and some bad. But the overwhelming amount of experiences was positive. Being a furry opened up a whole new world for me and gave me perspectives I never thought were possible. I mean, who honestly would think about becoming a gay porn artist as a child? x3 I also got to know so many great people. The majority of my friends are furries and my closest friends I've known now for a really long time, like 10 years or longer. I've grown much more confident as a person and are much more accepting of myself and others. I'm glad I found out about the furry fandom. :3

Sebin

You mentioned in another answer to somebody else's question, that your fursona's design is based on personal life experiences. But has your fursona also influenced you back in some way?

dreamandnightmare

Well I think the biggest influence is of course that my own fursona has given me an endless source of inspiration for pictures. But it also gave me a more positive body image. At first I felt scrutinized, because I absolutely do not have a perfectly sculpted body like my sona has. In the beginning, I struggled with that notion because I felt that people would judge me for that. However over time, this has changed to the opposite. Because even if I would train as hard as possible to have muscular body - I still wouldn't be an anthropomorphic tiger. ;P And I think that my fursona should be designed the way I want and not the way other people want it. I mean, I already look the way I am in real life - I don't want my fursona to look exactly like I do. I feel that is a missed opportunity for getting creative. And finally of course, when I'm in my fursuit, that is the perfect culmination of myself and my sona. My behavior, my posture, all of it changes when I'm fursuiting. It really helped me be more confident and open towards others.

Sebin

What is your favorite aspect of being a furry artist?

dreamandnightmare

Definitely the community! The interaction, the support and just the fact that I can earn money by drawing furry porn. x3 Furries are generally way more open minded and less critical than other communities. So that's a large source of motivation for me. :3 I'm glad I can do something that I enjoy and that other people like. :3
