So I think the early YouTube fictional vlog thing rj was thinking of was lonelygirl15, this is basically like the bl version of that. Lg15 was formatted the same, shot as a vlog and for a while there was no indication that it was fiction, until the girl started bringing up increasingly weird stuff like implying her parents were in a cult. Some thought she was still a real girl but just making stuff up for attention. Eventually viewers caught on that there was an actual plot with her vlog "guests" clearly being actors playing stock characters, and the producers came out to clarify it was all a show. Some fans felt betrayed and lied to, others thought it was the onset of a huge shift in scripted shows (which proved to be mostly wrong, it was already an internet riff on the Blair witch project). What I remember is that it taught us early yt users to never trust anyone or anything on the internet lol.

Cityboylog is a little more clearly fiction from earlier on, tho it took me a few eps to notice how they'd start incorporating shots that clearly weren't shot by them or with a tripod\stand like a vlogget and that the sound was too crisp for a typical vlog setup (or at least for a first time vlogget like Jaejun is supposed to be). Plus, the writing on the wall early on that it was going in a bl direction, and Jaejun being an actively promoting idol, meant that if u thought about it for 5 seconds you'd realize that no idol manager or company would let their talent post a gay af vlog thats this polished if it wasn't scripted content. Some thought this was a backdoor pilot or sort of semi scripted behind the scenes thing for a more traditional bl that these 4 are going to shoot, but I think it's clear now that this scripted vlog is the show, this is the project.
