This is the chapter 6 of an Impractical Guide to Godhood.

As always, I must write a certain number of warnings. If you think heroes are not authorised to rampage in whatever realm they're invading, if you feel the Olympians are the best thing for Mankind, or if you think the pen is mightiest than the sword and insanity...don't read this chapter.

If on the other hand you have destructive and megalomanical tendencies, welcome villain and tighten your safety belt! It is going to be a wild ride...

Enjoy!

You my dear Sir are a National Treasure

Please tell me we are going to get a reaction chapter from the Gods and everyone else in the world at the end of this quest

I’m just imagining Hades coming back and being more pissed at the amount of paperwork caused by this then the invasion or demigods actions lol

Aaron Kay

He actually made Hell worse Lol

Antony444

Of course! It wouldn't be funny at all if that wasn't the case. It might fall in the 'Interlude' category...and it likely will be even funnier and cathartic than in other stories which shouldn't be named.

Antony444

Worse is as always a question of perspective. Certain chaotic entities love what Perseus did.

This was just beautiful. Drew getting a chance to shine, more insight into how divinities work, (the moon has characteristics that representative deities must hold to? Is it due to some Ur-example setting the mark for future moon aspects or an average understanding of the moon across all cultures that moon deities must share at least some similarities to? Or are we Fate/Stay-Nighting it and the moon has a will of it’s own not related to divinity?) will Hades himself be affected by the balance of the afterlife shifting from torture/neutral/good/paradise to torture/torture/good/paradise? Is it reversible or is the fact that it happens during a time of great change because of a great quest give the Asphodel sea more narrative momentum? The whole ‘sea of fire’ bit is pretty similar to a passage from revelations, will the devil sue for divinity infringement? All in all this was a great chapter with the perfect blend of humour, character growth, plot progression, and zany unexpected hijinks that feel totally believable and consistent. The idea of the dam is honestly pretty funny, because it appears to be a major weakness in the underworld, and yet the underworld has always been more fleshed out in myth than the other two main domains. It almost feels like it was cobbled and stitched together rather than existing naturally. If the Phlegathon had to be redirected, then was it once part of Tartarus that was partition for mortal afterlife use? Did the gods create the underworld to appeal to their believers or did it arise naturally with the gods from mortal belief? Perhaps both? Last question I have is what happens if the dam is rebuilt? Does the Asphodel sea take on new divine properties from the phlegathon, is a new neutral area built in the underworld, and are millions of souls being carried down to Tartarus once the flow equalizes or reverses? Sorry for the question overload, I don’t expect responses, for spoiler prevention purposes, but I’m just brainstorming out all the neat ways this could go.

Funniest thing is of all of the olympions Hades Got Screwed out of the throne that was his by birthright if you go by first born male. but if you go by first born overall Hestia should have been ruler of olympus. On one hand Zeus Cheated when the Brothers Drew Lots for the Realms and over all rulership of the Gods. if that hadn't happened Can you honestly say an olympus ruled by Hades would be anywhere near as bad or worse than run by Zeus?

Anonymous

If anything, Zeus in the Percy Jackson books is a bit quite a bit better than the mythological version. It’s a wonder Percy doesn’t have more covert benefactors than just Aphrodite and his father, because a whole host of immortal beings have been wronged by Zeus for stupid reasons.

Dale

not in this version he isn't if anything our Author is playing him and the others far closer to the original Myths.

Antony444

Sorry, for not answering questions, but if I answer everything...well, the avalanche of spoilers would not leave a lot of things in leeway. Besides, you assume it is the only...ahem, terrain modification Perseus is going to unleash on Hell. The Underworld Arc is far from over.

Forgottenone

I knew Percy was going to keep the medallion as a anti-hunter weapon just did not think Zoe would walk up and ask for it. Yes Jackson does lie, but more for comedy or getting around legal obligations rather than anything else. It why the suicide squad still listens to his orders. How did Zoe expect grabbing the anti-Zoe object to work out? Nevermind, great job showing how divinity works in your story and why it is a bad idea to try a force you're will on a realm.

Gabriel Meadow

Great stuff. Also, I'm beginning to suspect that Hades wasn't behind the Master Bolt theft, nor that it was actually Nico/Bianca who was seen on camera...

Take into account that hestia, Demeter, and Hecate were all in line for the Throne before Zeus was even considered it was only them giving it up That put him on it. Hestia is basically has all the defense so think invading Russia in winter. And dont forget that she is First-born which means she's got the most power but spec it all in defense think of the anime Bofuri Demeter has control of the seasons and the Harvest one of the Domains of her father also is on great terms with gaia Hecate is utterly terrifying to basically everyone and so many Domains its not funny but she has Magic as one which is terrifying enough Funny thing is that the great prophecy makes no sense when looked at because it says "a child of the 3 eldest Gods" and everyone thinks it means Zeus and his brothers but that make no sense because the sisters are all OLDER then them and stronger. Dont forget that most of the protogenoi are Gods so i would think it would apply to them first if not them then the Sisters but Zeus and his brothers should never have been considered for the Prophecy from its wording

Antony444

Your attempt to interpret a Prophecy is...incorrect. If the prophecy said what it said, it would have said the 'three elder Goddesses', not the three elder Gods. So it can't be about them...unless Hades, Zeus and Poseidon suddenly turn female (which I can't sadly reject out of hand). As for the Protogenoi, they're theoretically Gods, but in fact are in a class of their own, Primordial Aspects of Reality. I don't think they would accept being linked to a minor prophecy announcing their doom.

Rockinalice

True i interpreted it wrong but they arent even the eldest Gods. Nix and the other primordials have had a few kids that are male Gods that were most likely born before Kronos had his youngest 3 not including the other Titans having males kids as well. the thing about the Prophecy is that it doesn't say Olympian it only says Gods it doesn't help that their is no major difference between Titans and Gods. Titans was more the name for their generation then a different kind of being https://youtu.be/duwD_sGfVsU Describe it better then me I am willing to admit if I'm wrong in my understanding of the mythology just thought i would add another view point if it helps let me know

Antony444

Also true. In the end, I think the prophecy is partly about Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades because the Gods themselves think it is about those three. Self-fulfilling prophecy is always a big thing...

Rockinalice

Yup this is why it is wise to erase your memories of one if you hear a prophecy most tend to be self-fulfilling they tend to do more harm then good i can think of only a few prophecies that actually help someone
