Good build up, I have to ask through what happened to the make 8 power armour as you said previously it hadn’t been created yet

Whelp, looks like Weavers about to have some unexpected Aethergold to shove up a certain primarchs deamonic butt. And this chicks about to have more money than she can ever spend and a flotilla of Mechanicus and other assorted Weaver fanatics standing behind her with loaded bolters to enforce it. I mean hell id not bet against a Custodes going along to protect an investment of this magnitude. Cause damn, the Imperiums gonna jump on this like a Skaven nest on a town full of Warpstone. Ah that sectors gonna learn quickly the meaning of gunship diplomacy.

Two more words and we'd have the Spaceballs password ;)

Hmmm, I wonder what kind of special goodies our friend Cawl has brought with himself this time?

Anonymous

If it’s primaries marines It’d be right in line with Antonys escalation, personally I’m thinking some hyper advanced emp rail gun or something like that the Malevolance used in the clone wars. Giant broadside Ion cannon able to disable fleets in one shot. After all I’m sure he got the railgun STC cause Cawl and he most likely had something in his vaults that combined creates utter bs but is something Mechanicus would kill him for. Like maybe a Ion/Lance powered by a DAOT power generator.

Boris Michenski

Noctilith, Noctilith everywhere!!! I suspect more and more than in the end of Operation Slaingrad most of Throne of Oblivion stash will be lost one way or another. And we have a big equaliser i n future SM/CSM fights - new armor, which apparently will allows Weaver's transhuman friends to tear Traitors apart! And I wait for the big meeting on Arena!

Michael Zalesny

So evil antony...cutting it right before the meeting with the Eldar. I wanna see what they do when forced to beg

Anonymous

Mac cannons or rail guns? Infantry rifles or vehicles?

Antony444

To not spoil a later conversation, there are projects on Mars which had already claimed the name, though it hadn't been put in mass production. So Nyx went directly Mark IX when they developed theirs.

Antony444

The Custodes won't got to the 'Argovon' system no, but their spies won't keep an eye on it. As for the Aethergold, the bonus is of one ton, since Taylor understandably hasn't the time anymore to wait for the mining expedition to go back with an immense cargo of Noctilith.

Antony444

Begging is counter-indicated...the Queen of Blades is there, you don't complain too loudly in her presence. But yes, the Arena of Blades scenes come right after that.

Antony444

Indeed. Not saying anything about the Throne of Oblivion campaign, obviously. It's true that if the Space Marine absolutely need the Mark IX to preserve their elite status against the Necrons, the result is also a manifest danger increase for any Chaos Space Marine that meets them in combat. Sorcery of Chaos of course can narrow the gap, but until the Word Bearers manage to provide their Dark Mechanicum allies with some captured suits, they are not going to like engagements on even numbers.

Mordred

Quick question is the Electromagnetic gun some kind of rail gun or MAC or is it an EMP weapon?

Boris Michenski

Scene on Arena just after the end of the update... you truly are evil Antony. By the way, there must be a typo in Macarius speech: 188.310M25 - it has to be M35 About suspicious Alpha Legion warband... I can't get out of my head the image: 'Phocron' remove the helmet: "Ha-ha I was Corax all along!" More seriously, I imagine we can take for granted that Corax did enter on Chaos Armada stowaway style?

Nicholas

I think I have spotted another of Taylor's contingency plans. She has a reserve of ten to twenty thousand Space Marines hidden somewhere. This says her public force has only one thousand Blood Angels. There is no way that is all the Blood Angels offered her and given the threats no way she turned the help down. That means there are more Blood Angels somewhere. Since they aren't publicly visible they must be a secret reserve.

frank schellingerhout

thx for the words. ah bad news always come's on pair one crawl is back those poor moons must shiver in there core's. and then hearing about leet and co antics :D

Confused

Jeez theses' updates are coming out fast!

Mordred

It's stated to be a ship mounted electromagnetic gun if that's what you're asking?

Antony444

The former, which is why the template the cannons were built upon were called railgun. If it was the latter, it wouldn't be deployed against Necrons.

Antony444

Thanks! And seen, oops, and corrected. Phocron being Corax...I admit, I had not imagined a scenario like that. But it would be a fantastic idea, really (alas now it is written there, part of the surprise would unavoidably be lost). Yes, Corax has infiltrated the Grand Armada of Chaos Undivided. Not that it's really difficult, truly. The Word Bearers are so busy plotting the demise of their rivals their security for anything which isn't a rat seriously sucks.

Antony444

Indeed, indeed. Though it's 'one thousand Blood Angels and Successors'. And you have seen most of the Blood Angels committed. As much as they love Taylor, the sons of Baal have other commitments and must protect their homeworld, just in case Lorgar decides to come their way.

Antony444

You're welcome. Yes, the moons are shaking as the Zar-Quaesitor comes closer...as for Leet, it's the galaxy which is shivering.

Antony444

I promised an update for Sunday, I am a man of my word. You will have to wait a few days for another, though. I am not an Abominable Intelligence.

primus

I'm trying to remember where you did an explanation of how the rewards for Operation Caribbean broke down, and why Taylor got so much. I think a bunch of it applies to Operation Stalingrad - she's the supreme commander, there's no local sector leadership, etc. I forget what the other factors are, but I'm definitely interested in seeing which ones continue to be relevant.

Gabriel Meadow

The Administratum really can't do anything right. And Xerxes shot himself in the foot with that bounty - basically admitting his clan hid a system from the Imperium so they could embezzle the tithes completely. Just another inch of rope to hang him...

John W

So much Noctilith. This is going make the coming war with the Vandire clan go crazy.

Kioras

The Emperor has hit multiple birds with a small toss of a stone to direct a navigator. It saved the Spirit of Eternity from being destroyed or forcing a full Dark Age AI from going full rogue. Due to shenanigans of the Administration it forces a loyal Rogue Trader to go to Taylor with reports of a massive Noctilith find. The type of find that potentially could allow a significant number of navigators to have it on hand when traveling the Warp. Said rogue trader also happens to have 1 ton of the stuff on hand for Taylor to convert to Aethergold, right when she is likely to be facing both the Necrons and a Black Crusade. There are likely a few other unmentioned effects of this. The Vandire is probably nothing more then collateral damage. I do wonder if the Inquisition gets enough Aethergold if they will start to randomly test certain important members of the Throneworlds administation, including the High Lords. Failure of coarse will lead to a quite thorough probing.

Mackenzie Buckle

wow, I just realized The Weaver Option has surpassed a million words.

Gohu lacd

And one more Rogue trader is added to Taylor entourage. At this point, I wonder if she won't follow Trazyn exemple and start a collection of them...

Antony444

Depends where Operation Stalingrad will fight, obviously, since the battle-zone isn't static. But as it stands, yes, the conditions of Pavia also apply.

Antony444

Well for this one, he can really put the blame on Mephistopheless (who is conveniently dead) if pressed. Not that's going to make him happier...

Antony444

Technically, with all the comments/replies/background work/etc...I think one million words is a very small percentage of the real work investment...

Antony444

Obvious question: did the Emperor really plan this or did he see an opportunity and trusted his agents to exploit the gains once they presented themselves? I will let the readership decide...(heavy grin)

Silver Wolf

Just curious will we get a description of what Mark IX Power armor looks like in this or the coming chapters? And if not can you say how it differs visually from Mark VII or VIII?

Matt.Silver

Finally, Taylor is going to meet some reasonable Eldar. Hopefully they can do something to give her Celestial Highness a more balanced view of their race. Taylor’s racist tendencies seem to be getting worse if she wishes she could genocide the Eldar in her spare time. It’s getting to the point where it’s really starting to bother me. Yeah, the Eldar did a lot of horrible things, but humanity really shouldn’t be throwing stones considering what the human heretics in the Eye of Terror get up to. If all Eldar can be held accountable for the actions of Commorragh, then all humans can be held accountable for the actions their worst elements as well. On a more objective note; if the 2nd legion attacked the Monolith in M30, then the Necrons there would’ve all woken up to combat the threat. After they won, wouldn’t the Necrons have repaired everything before going back into hibernation? Also, the solar harvesters must be basically one-shot weapons to justify its drawbacks, like costing more than a World Engine in rare resources. Wouldn’t they have been used to target the biggest ships to make the most of an impact, such as the Gloriana Tsunami and the Defiler’s Space Hulk? Since it was used against the elusive Eldar, it must also be very accurate as well. Lastly, having teleport-capable Titan legions is not going to be very useful against the Monolith’s Null Zone. While the information about Void Shields is minimal enough to justify saying it isn’t Warp based (personally, I would have just said that Heimdall forcefield isn’t Warp based and replace the Void Shields with those), Imperial teleportation technology is definitely Warp-based. So, no teleportation can be done inside the Null Zone (by the Imperium at any rate). Actually, how would Chaos be affected by the Null Zone? Since they rely on almost nothing but warp-based or warp-tainted tech, I’m not sure how they could conceivably attack the Monolith. Aside from those minor issues, everything else is fantastic. Keep up the good work.

"We have confirmation the Battleship of the Queen of Blades has entered the Nyx Sector, and is escorted on its way there" - so the Eldar do have FTL other than the Webway?

Anti-No

Thing is, null zones is something that happens in 40k semi-regularly. How does Imperial tech usually work inside the Shadow of the Warp the Tyrranid hive fleets project?

Antony444

I will make a comment, but it's not too dissimilar to a Mark VIII, though they had to modify a bit the helmet and the asthetic of the armour.

Antony444

No, it is sort of modified Webway technology used for this purpose. Inferior to the stuff the Harlequins use.

Antony444

Well, given that the Imperium 'obviously' has not met the Tyranids yet, there's no open answer I'm willing to give.

ZeroNu

So first up is to give thanks to Antony for this little slice of happiness and once again I must praise your world-building I love how you show that while new weapons are coming online they are rushed designs and there are already plans to refine them to be better. One thing I am looking forward to is what the Eldar think about the Nyx system and the large build-up of forces going on that should be something to see.

Dale

While I figure the stupider Eldar (the ones STILL calling humans 'mon-keigh' in their thoughts) won't learn much. They'll be too busy trying to keep their blinders from flying off their faces. The smarter ones? They're going to be tallying the implications and be the ones driving the 'new doctrine' mentioned post-Dark City that had confirmation of her attention/presence on the battlefield grounds for an immediate ASAP 'Run Away' response. Her domain is HIGHLY industrialized, the populace obviously love Her (translates to increased morale and ferocity when defending Her), and the that's not even counting both the Elites guarding Her, and her PERSONAL skills. And I have absolutely no doubt they will realize that Biel-Tan and the Dark Eldar have REALLY made a 'memorable' impression on Her. What I'm wondering is how many of the Eldar are going to be cursing Biel-Tan regularly for pissing Lady Weaver off? And how many terrible fates they'd love to visit upon them in the afterlife?
