Citizens!

By order of his Most August Divinity Lord Xerxes Vandire, it has been decided this chapter will be exceptionally taxed to cover for exceptional expenses which will allow the Imperium to build better defences around certain critical regions of our beloved Zion Sector.

No need to cheer me, I understand your- what are you doing? Unhand me at once! I am a Tithe-Lord! Do you have-

BLAM!

Leet: we have recovered the manuscript of fifty-one thousand words! Nothing to see here, move around and go play my video games! These are not the droids you're looking for.

Borek: Manling, everyone sees us on top of this podium.

Leet:...oh never mind. This was Leet and Borek, signing off.

Vortiboy27

Well Glory Girl, that was who I expected as a 3rd choice, but given her character post Wretch In a grim dark world, I don't think she would object to having brains given to her for once.

Vortiboy27

Though I have to ask, does she truly want Weaver dead or is she playing another game that requires her to be alive.

Anonymous

I am very curious to see what the rest of the Parahumans will think about the identity of Malicia, once it is revealed to them.

Anonymous

Excellent update not who I was expecting as Malica but it should be interesting and everything else promises a mess of unforeseen proportions. This will be glorious

Gabriel Meadow

"His Most August Divinity?" Sounds to me like Xerxes Vandire is committing heresy, claiming a status belonging to the God-Emperor. Clearly Leet and Borek have punished this heretic's representative in a just and worthy manner.

Anonymous

Damn, I was wondering who Malicia was but I honestly never even considered it would be Glory Girl. Granted in hindsight if anyone is going to swear to Tzeentch, it's going to be the one who had their body twisted into something that would be jealous of the average Chaos Spawn, simply because they can still move.

Gabriel Meadow

It sounds like she isn't actually a fan of Tzeentch. She definitely has her own game.

Gabriel Meadow

Also, glad to see Rogal Dorn and Jaghatai Khan together now. They just need to figure out how to get back, and there will be great cheers throughout the Imperium.

Boris Michenski

HA-HA I was right! Honestly, I believe I was the first one to propose Victoria Dallon as Malicia! That was a long time ago... So there will be Worm vs Ward protagonist showdown! So... wonder who is the on cause Calixian Nightmare... because now we have a new contender, Simmie! Who was strangely non threatening towards Inquisition... or do they delude themselves thinking that Aethergold is foolproof against her? Dorn found his brother. Happy for him. And Yvraine is just rude. He was willing to talk, it was not nessesary to flee that way. And Alaitoc decide to talk with Taylor... Well, that prouve that End of the World is coming. I have a feeling everyone will converge on the Arena of Blades and it will be funny reunion. And Malcador is still around. Glad to see him.

Confused

Huh so it's glory girl not really surprising by this point it was her or her sister for me so good to finally know for sure. And hey the primarchs are together that's great now they just need to get out and return to the imperium which will be hard to say the least.

Antony444

Indeed, indeed. There is only one God-Emperor. Claiming divinity for someone else (even if you aren't the someone) is HERESY!

Antony444

Most of the citizens of the Imperium will cheer up, the High Lords...well, not all are going to be overjoyed. Remember what happened with Guilliman in canon, and their distrust isn't completely groundless...

Antony444

This was indeed a big part in the reason which led her to swear herself to Tzeentch. One key point to remember is that Chaos rarely tries to make a deal when you're triumphing and the laurels are posed on your head (except maybe Slaanesh). It's always when you're at a new lowest low they intervene...much like a parahuman trigger, actually.

The great gathering of monster! Good times for all ahead, some more so than others,

Anonymous

You are a very good writer.

Guilherme Bezerra

So much to read. So much to comment upon. I'm interested in how the simurgh is moving around. Does she actually take over starships to move around worlds? And the swarm going mecha! I honestly didnt even consider Taylor main weapon wasnt gonna work in a null field. And we obvioulsy need more Borek and Leet. I never tire of his manling comments. Lastly have the other names for the tainted noctlith being chosen? Something like bloodstone I suppose? Also is the necron version gonna receive an official designation?

Gabriel Meadow

For me, the name doesn't matter as much as the fact that the threadbare unity of the Three is fraying even faster, no Anarchy required. Lorgar is really, really in trouble - and the Skaven are going to overrun Sicarius now that he's left for the Black Crusade. If only GG/Malicia told him about Napoleon - and if only he'd listen.

Forgottenone

Please tell me I am wrong and the idiots are not going to summon Sicarus at the Throne of Oblivion. I am will admit it might let the traitor use their warp powers if a monument of Chaos like Sicarus is sent into the null field. Which, I will admit very advantageous for the forces of Chaos. If it does not get blown up. Yes, a Endbringer has arrived nice to see a few counters for the mind control already exist. Nice uses for the new gold have been shown. Wait the bell is already ringing and really should just give the collector a 'bell watchers dress' woven by the saint for the sisterhood. Tell the truth it could very easily end up a collectible item.

I noticed a Mechanicus representative from Palomar on the list of the Council of 36. Given that you're pouring in everything else, I have a feeling the Speranza will come up. Possibly. Some day.

Anonymous

Hmm.... I had guessed Panacea in a review on the fanfiction account where this website is posted, and you were kind enough to tell me in a Private Message that it wasn't. I kept quiet on it for the sake of keeping the mystery going, but I didn't guess Victoria Dallon.

Anonymous

I feel that the raven feather left on the throne was from the Raven Primarch.

Aaron Kay

So glory-girl is now following Chaos?

Antony444

I think I will have to explain one final time somewhere why I didn't choose Panacea...ah well. As for the Primarchs, yes, they aren't (yet) returned to the Imperium.

Antony444

Yep, Chaos isn't going to let the Emperor get away with Commorragh without a fight...

Antony444

Nah, of course not. This is the Word Bearers we're talking about. They're going to try something worse...

Antony444

For the moment the Speranza is going to stay where it is, which is buried under several Forges worth of materials. I have no plans to use it in the short-term, that much I can say for sure.

Antony444

Yep, plenty of people asked for Panacea, but it was the 'obvious' sister...

Gohu lacd

I gotta say, for the universe of Warhammer, there is nothing more important than symbolisme. It's true for the imperium with it's faith and it's true for Chaos with it's many daemons aspects. Thus, I don't think there could have been a better choice for the role of arch-ennemy of Taylor than Victoria Dallon. One was a shinning beacon of heroism who lived a good and pleasant life, with a family she loved, a loving boyfriend, and generally a good reputation, before everything went to hell . The other, a troubled / hurted soul with a broken family and victim of cruelty and persecution from her peers, who tried her hand at heroism but then ultimely turned villain. One falled apart, the other one tried to rise again. And thus, at the summit they will meet again, and only one will be proved to be right. I really like where this is going. Although I wonder. Victoria still blame everything on Amy, but did she never had the thought that she was partially responsible for her crumbling ? That Amy life was so toxic that the presence of her loving sister only made things worse ?

Anonymous

There's plenty to look forward to her but for me the biggest one is why would the Imperium want Malicia alive only. I don't want an answer from the author so he doesn't have to spoil things either way but I'm currently leaning towards thinking the Emperor is somewhat aware of Vicky not being loyal to Tzeentch or perhaps he has some way to release her from it's influence as long as she's not too far gone like the Primarchs. Perhaps shard shenanigans are at play. The second big point of interest for me is how Ziz knows where to intervene, perhaps it has something to do with Contessa since we don't know her actual fate yet. I'm loving the fact that you've gone the route of having Ziz's motives/plans/allegiance remain completely unknown, it fits incredibly well with how the paranoia over ziz bombs was the most important part of her role in canon and now everyone gets to be even more paranoid about her and her plans.

Boris Michenski

Personally, what I liked the most, that for once you have absolutely no sympathie for Ziz's victimes there, well most of them, Inquisition didn't suffer that much proportionally... I also liked a lot Kharn calling Ziz to fight and cursing her for being coward... and unworthy... Stop, why do I suddenly get Eidolon's (parahuman one) vibes there?

Boris Michenski

I totally agree about symbolism. And well, Malicia's lettre at the beggining allude a lot towards their eventual meeting. As for Victoria blaming everything on Amy? Well, isn't it Chaos way to delude youself and blame the others?

Anonymous

thx for the words as always interesting choice with vicky being the parahuman being missing and in chaos would have thought jack slash or bonesaw myself so its a nice surprise seems AI are in with dennis also finding one interesting he knew that dragon is one also.

ScreamingMidgit

I'm surprised that the Dark Angels are taking the whole Gavreel situation reasonably. Stereotypical they're rather rabid when it comes to the Fallen. It makes me wonder what'll happen once Taylor and the DA Chapter Master meet. Though seeing how the Primarchs are beginning to return to the fold I'm willing to bet Taylor is going to wind up playing messenger regarding some spicy information regarding the Lion.

Anonymous

Nice additions - I enjoyed this arc. One thing that I wanted to point out is that following some of the scenes featuring the Chaos factions is hard for someone that doesn't have a full background in the 40K universe. If Taylor ever finds out about the training ground in the webway, there is no way that she isn't sending Leet there --- as it's such an obvious video game reference. Finally, I'm wondering how many arcs there are left - the whole story started on the premise of the Tyrannid invasion of M45 (I forget exactly which M4x), and they are still in 305M35, so a loooong way to go....

Anonymous

Having everyone act unreasonably (Iron Hands, Ultramarines, Administratum...) also makes for unreasonable writing... ;) Need a surprise every now and then.

Antony444

Jack Slash is a completely chaotic guy, so making go to Chaos wouldn't really be tragic...and he would die very quickly. His parahuman power to survive on Earth Bet really depended on having other parahumans nearby. Alone in a war zone where there are Chaos Astartes? He won't last one hour. As for Bonesaw...no, not going there.

Anonymous

I think this chapter is excellent. I liked Simurgh appearance and the way her meddling was interfering with plans of multiple factions at the same time. On the other hand I feel that there was an important scene left out from this whole story arc (maybe ovation 9.4?) - revelation that Simurgh is alive, well, and causing mischief in the galaxy. Readers know this since Battle of Pavia, but Taylor did not! Yes, she assumed that Simurgh may be alive as soon she learnt of destruction of Earth Bet and the fact that Simurgh's fate was unconfirmed. Nevertheless at the time of Contessa's abduction Simurgh's face and powers were known to select few and Endbringer was not considered a primary suspect by Inquisition. The flow of story (and the fact that Inquisitor Barberini was warned by Lady Weaver) suggests that Taylor was made aware of some indications of Simurgh's survival during Ovation Arc (possibly by reading a imperial report describing a newly encountered flying, hijacking ships monster ) and then decided to disseminate information pertaining to Simurgh's name, powers and looks. I strongly believe that such a scene is missing from the story and I would like to read one. Taylor's reaction to confirmation of existence of Simurgh in the galaxy must have been spectacular.

Nikola Nikitin

My text to speech sounds out barbbuster as barbie buster. Got a good laugh out of me when I heard that.

Nicholas

I don't think such a scene was missing. We have seen a lot of incidents that make it clear that the Emperor is feeding Taylor information. I put her need to warn this Inquisitor about the Simurgh down to the Emperor warned her.

Nice Chapter! one thought that I kept having however was "Is noctilith going to be the crux of the long term developements?" because now there are already two derivatives of it serveing opposite sides... and hints towads Khonre wanting his own version of it, unless i read that one segment completly wrong. tbh I am overall slightly unsure if that could be a problem for me if it turns out to be pure "Plottium"...

Antony444

All the sides who matter are going to want to put the maximum of Noctilith under their custody (by which I mean Necrons, Taylor and the Emperor, Tzeentch, Khorne, Skavens). It is simply too useful, and yes, there are going to be developments with it as the quantity available for the protagonists increase. On the other hand, it can't solve every problem and there are battles and events to come which have nothing to do with Noctilith.

Anonymous

Yet again a great chapter I loved to read. One thing I love about your work is the world-building and seeing the cascading effects that are happing is great. I have to tip my hat to you though on haveing Victoria be Malicia I was not expecting that ... though what Amy did to her I could see why she was chosen.

Bel

Man, if Cawl DOES get Guilliman back on his feet, he's going to so angry about that Chapter Master who turned down a critical wartime resource because somebody didn't take a manual for military suggestions as holy gospel and then sidelines an effective commander for doing the same. Also the iron Hands are being dumbasses, which I guess makes sense concerning bacta but really... From her thoughts at the end of the Dark City arc, we know that QA is getting close to the point where it 'upgrades' itself, but this arc is going to be one such of the needed conditions. Wonder what that's going to be looking like. She's already worked around her range limitation to a degree with the golden ants, what would an upgraded QA look like? Guess we can only wait till you reveal that to us, but I do have some ideas that are probably right out. Malica's identity is one I didn't suspect but probably should have, and looking forward to more of her antics. Khan continues to be a swell guy (you know, between the betrayal, murder and butchery), and now he's angrily having his axe at Ziz, which is just an amusing image.

Anonymous

An excellent chapter as usual, the scale of the events you portray always get to me. It might be interesting to add a sentence about how long they have been preparing to defend Cadia from this crusade in the final section, because some might get lost with all the dates. I certainly did. "After n years of preparation, war had come for her again." or however you put it.

Gabriel Meadow

I forgot to mention, nice way of weaving the Volscani Cataphracts into the story, and turning them to Chaos like they did six thousand years later in the OTL. Fortunately, theirs is not the same as Dragon's esteemed work.

Antony444

Thanks a lot! Yes, I try to imagine a lot the reactions and the counter-reactions to the protagonists actions...which naturally, demand a lot of planning. You're welcome.

Antony444

Guilliman has a lot to be angry about the M35 Ultramarines, yes. In canon, the Astartes dodged the issue by being the recipient of the Tyranids' first onslaught, something which forced them to close their eyes on the most egregious Codex violations...because it was survival or ending as the Hive Fleet's snack. Positive side, they're far more redeemable than the Iron Hands, whose doctrine is stupid and living conditions under their rule are absolutely horrible.

Antony444

Ah, I was worrying a bit about no one mentioning it. Thanks for the compliment.

Anonymous

Hi. Nice chapter. And thanks. Too much too unpack in this chapter. The identity of Malicia and all the plots of the enemies of IOM and inside. It is going to be a hell of a fight. It seems that Taylor salvation from Chaos will most likely be saved(ironicly) by the Throne of Oblivion. I shudder to think what kind of plots Malicia would unleash. Hope that Khorne/Tzeench/Simurgh would crash their own plans. Is Malicia (Glory GIrl) from another dimension than Taylor? Because Glory Girl from Taylor dimension should not be in the chaos spawn equivalent yet. Panaceea would probably not get insane / events of the Ward book(OTL Worm timeline) would never happen on Saint Taylor Herbert Earth Bet timeline.

Albino87

After have read how the Iron Hand react, I have to wonder how they would react to Weaver is creating a mechanised swarm by changing them from organic to mechanical. It would not surprise me if they decide they want to go through the procedure to be completely mechanical.

Great Chapter with lots of revelations and „Interesting“ viewpoints. But there is a problem with the Magos Aphelion Beta scene, specifically that the new Torpedo launchers could fire 4 torpedos in under 4 seconds. That strains the suspension of disbelief from myself to a huge decree. To fire a normal „modern“ torpedo you need to open the inner bulkhead/ chamber door and carefully load the torpedo, once in position you Must close the door and seal it. After that you either flood the chamber with water or if overwater prepare to fire, because underwater the next steep is to open the outer door and then you can fire the torpedo. Because we are talking about Imperial Torpedos here we are talking about really big and heavy objects that must be moved with some care. I can believe that the first Torpedo can be fired in under one minute but the mechanic at this size needs size and weight to be able to withstand the launching of torpedos or the possible detonation of one in the chamber. All this boils down to heavy machinery that takes time to move, notwithstanding that the exhaust gases must be vented if you don’t want your loading chamber to be filled with several houndreds of *C hot gases who will damage your reloadingmachines or your crew that is in the area. I think a minute is more in line with the loading and firing of a torpedo. But if you want to speed up the process you could install force fields that prevent those hot gases to enter the reloading chamber and you could mimic the swim- out torpedo by installing a magnetic launch system. But all that would only halve the system time of the operation.

Silver Wolf

Would it be possible to get confirmation on how old the parahumans are at the end of this chapter? Please and Thank You.

Forgottenone

I believe you are 100% percent correct and I see Weaver telling the cogboys that she has a priority A.I. threat on hand that must be terminated.

Anonymous

Assault on New Delhi (from when Taylor was transported) happened on 26th of July. Panacea mutilated Glory Girl during Nine's visit in June. So Victoria was already looking like a chaos spawn (and probably already in Parahuman Asylum) during divergence between canon-timeline and the one presented in Weaver Option.

Rufio18

Did the necrons give bio transference to Nyx? Is it just enough to do fauna and not humans? Taylor’s biggest strength with her insects is how rapidly the can reproduce on the battlefield. Can the mecha insects multiply like a nano bot army or something? I suppose the next big export of Nyx is going to be fully controllable meca ambulls for deep earth mining and tunneling 😂. Love the Malcador appearance in Nyx system. I wonder when he is going to visit Taylor and impart his wisdom

Bel

Obviously not Antony, but reading the interlude chapter the last timestamp we have is 309M35. In comparison, Taylor turned up on Fay in 289M35 as a sixteen-year-old. That means it's been 20 years since she got to the Warhammer galaxy, so she would be 36 as of this moment, and about the same for Dennis and Sophia. Missy is a few years younger (no wonder she's not happy about not having that boyfriend) while Leet is a few years older.

Bel

These aren't aquatic torpedo's, these are Void torpedo's so once you have loaded them, you just drain at the atmosphere from the tubes. Plus, in that same scene, it is mentioned that the tubes are automated so most likely the heavy machinery to slot in a new torpedo is already part of the tube, the three 'extra' being ready to go, already in a null-atmosphere area so you don't need to open the tube at all.

Antony444

More like the Necron gave the minimum of data for the essence-transfer, and the Mechanicus adapted it for this purpose. For the moment, given how bad it was for the Necrons, the experiments on humans are strictly and completely forbidden. So are nanomachines. It is something to have metallic insects, it is entirely different level to have nano bots.
