Content

We should be roughly one week away from the end of completing this chapter...I think.

So it is time for an update. Unlike other versions, there's not the part before to ensure those who have read the other part don't waste several minutes going to the point where the new content is introduced.

This time, note that I don't use the word teaser, for reasons which will be rapidly obvious.

Until next time...

Awesome work as always and it seems the Third Legion Successor Chapter will have a Bjorn equivalent. Questions I have after reading this feel free to ignore any you don’t feel like answering: Is the Cataphract capable of housing an astartes crew or did the White Scars want then for their non Astartes forces? Don’t the White Scars have an aversion to the use of Dreadnoughts due to the lack of sensation granted to the pilot, why would they be more incline to use the dragon armor? Would it be safe to assume the Rogue Trader who survived touching Aethorgold will still die for he crimes? For the nine chapter limit in Nyx does that include the Dawnbreaker Guard? Will Pierre be forced to sleep between missions or is he going to be awake all the time now that he’s in the Dawnbreaker guard? Are the Heracle Wardens still under the same restrictions as before or have they been lifted due to their actions during the Scourging of Commorragh ? I apologize if this comes off as a bit pushy but will we see the Emperor’s meeting with the two High Lords he chose to meet? Did the Custodes intercept the daughter or her High Lord mother? Was the Cadia section just meant to show the planetary government assessing damages and recovery time or was there something else that was meant to be shown to the readers? Once again thank you for the work you put in this fic.

I want to stay on Ms. Hebert's Wild Ride. The Great Khan of the White Scars has a very interesting definition of 'a short moment', however due to him being _The Great Khan of the White Scars_ nobody really wants to tell him this. Meanwhile Dragon just high-fived a random person and doesn't know why. Holy shit though, flying Dreadnoughts, a bunch of enemies of the Imperium are going to be remarkably unhappy about those, though probably for only a very short period. (beta: "the Basileia replied before walking directly towards the great gates of this Starfort’s level" that works as a sentance, but it seems odd and takes a bit to parse) I don't think you need many Space Marines to count as a transhuman assault force ... just one can be an assault force if it's Dawnbreaker's Champion or the much feared Wearer Of That Damn Hat. Taylor is going to be so very very happy if she figures out how to turn the damn wings off. (beta: "grabbed the golden chalice with her left hand and the chalice with her right hand" she grabs the chalice twice and the sword zero times) That seems a fair judgment on the Sons of Sanguinius, I expect some of them will survive because even with a Penance Crusade Space Marines are really hard to kill. Vanishing their sigil with pure faith energy was an impressive touch. Oh Magdalena, you sweet summer child. Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment. Oh yeah, going directly to her sword is not a good sign. Gah, the Punishment of Shai-tan is some Drukhari level shit, okay, baby's first torture Drukhari grade, but still Drukhari grade. Though I do find it quite interesting that she's using the term "Drukhari" here, this implies she's been looking a lot more into Eldar groups and factions. I'm not sure she sees much difference between Drukhari and the other groups, but she's aware there is one. Hmmm, the Manifest Destiny must be a fairly sweet ride, Taylor is going to pick something nice for some of her most loyal subjects and friends. Oprah III Jeffers got off pretty lightly, as we just found out a beheading is far from the worst option. I expect that for Vanessa Armengarde Taylor will go for the short sharp drop method of hanging, she doesn't seem the type to torture unless she's really trying to make a point. Scarlet Kade was worth making a point of. I'm guessing the The Last Opera is an even more sweet ride, and Denise gets a gifted trader as an advisor. I expect she won't be stupid enough to try this shit again with the Inquisition tries again, especially if she finds out that her new boss's lover is a semi-retired Imperial Assassin. Ah, they are each getting several ships, so starting out as serious players in the Rogue Trader stakes. Shiva Wrathbone? Man, some of these people are really not subtle. I do wonder how much some of these punishments are just standard mandates for various degrees of crime. Okay, Magdalena was right to hope. Meanwhile ... first Alyena Sinblade, again with the subtle names (this isn't a dig at the author, these names seem entirely in-character), and secondly, oh god what the fuck? Look, Taylor may be bi, but she's also very picky, and traitors really are not her type. Okay, I didn't expect Alyena to survive that test, that's interesting. Interesting enough that Taylor needs to think about this one. I expect that Taylor is not going to get on well with the Ecclesiarchy. Not that she doesn't belive in the God Emperor, but the Ecclesiarchy is far fallen from what she feels it should be. Most of this is just fairly expected stuff, and the one they are about to have a fight over I don't have enough context to understand. It's good to know this is happing though. I have to agree with that random comment, I'm shipping Freya and Nils too. Weaver: Here is a volcanic deathworld, we expect you to protect it and a bunch of other places and we're going to make you fight lava-plesiosaurs because it's funny. Ta’Phor: Don't threaten me with a good time. More toys for Nyx, and while the gems are I think more for the symbolic side of things, the tech and the Volkite weapon lines are going to be very useful. Meanwhile you're having a flying dragon dreadnought built by a mixture of Dragon, the Go Fast Space Machines and the Our Tech Shall Destroy The Unrighteous Space Marines. Those things are going to be _mean_. And set lots of shit on fire. Also more buggie things for the collection. And next time Taylor gets into a way too big fight she at least starts with a Gloriana this time. Oh, Pierre is now officially Taylor's problem and not the Heracles anymore. Eh, Pierre won't mind, she gets into lots of trouble and likes weird tactics. The thing about the Dawnbreaker Guard is that while it's not a chapter, and hopefully won't end up at chapter size, I get the feeling that what any normal chapter would call a veteran is what the Dawnbreaker class as a basic trooper. They also probably have an equipment budget that could support more than one normal chapter. I find it amusing that one chapter she doesn't have represented is the Ultrasmurfs. Taylor is, as always, loyal to her people. And I'm pretty sure she plans on using Pavia as an example of how a planet should be looked after. I half expected the three cities to be Constantinople, Byzantium, and Istanbul in a joke that only her, the other parahumans, and the Emperor would get. I see the field where the Emperor grows his fucks is still barren. Meanwhile some people somewhere are about to get a truly amazing intensity of pain dropped on them. The birth of the Ordo Hereticus, I'm sure this won't cause any problems. The High Lords are as united as ever. I wonder how soon Nyx will hit it's chapter limit, and what will happen if the Marines take a case the Emperor for it to be raised. Though to be fair too many chapters in one place is concentrating critical assets in one location more than is good, so I don't know if Taylor would even agree to too many more herself. Ah, they are going to try and build a new Gloriana, that should make the Mechanicus very happy. Meanwhile what the fuck are the Space Wolves on, like holy shit. Ah, the Lord Commander Militant. Taylor has probably made his life more complex, but damn if she isn't the best advert for the Imperial Guard the have had in a very long time. And it looks like she's getting a new member for her Quirky Miniboss Squad. Huh, didn't give her a Order of Ollanius Pius, I'm wondering if some people got themselves on a little list over that. I expect the Emperor is going to be doing some house cleaning in the time to come, and while this is a very minor thing that he isn't going to go after somebody over, it's absolutely a factor in 'does this person care about playing politics more than winning for the Imperium', if probably a very minor factor. It's good to see the people that decided to fuck with Taylor's forces for the battle are getting their just deserts. Another faction is getting involved. Thing is that Taylor cares a lot about things like this, but that means that Marianne is going to have to present a very solid argument, and bribes won't count. I'm assuming the Emperor approves of this to some degree, they wouldn't need to send _three_ Custodes just to stop her, which means something else is going on. Though it could be as simple as she's going to be the fastest way to get them out there. Oh, the bit many of us have been waiting for. Hi Sophia, your day is about to get weirder. A lot weirder. Yeah, Emps is not impressed by Miss Hess, while Sophia is bright enough to be very impressed by him. And something of Sophia gets to survive, but only because she is needed. I do wonder what was done to her shard. I wonder what does done to the much more cooperative Queen Administrator. Oh hi Malicia, I bet we're still not going to find out who you used to be. And I wasn't wrong. Meanwhile she's being very clever. The bit about even remembering the name of an ex-Slanesh ship is intresting. It continues to be a very bad day to be a member of the Emperor's Children. And possibly everyone else, anything that makes Fabius Bile that happy is not a good thing. The navy continues to not like Taylor. This doesn't stop them having to upgrade her to have a really serious fleet. Oh, _those_ daughters. Cadia is going to get exciting, but that's pretty normal for that place. It's still kinda impressive that Taylor can arrange to have an archaeological dig done on Isstvan of all places so she can cross-check things. Okay, we may have a new contender in the 'most tough and inhumanly patient Marine' contender, though I assume he somehow put himself into stasis and triggered it to end when somebody found him. Oh, well that's interesting, we have an Emperor Loyalist third legion dreadnaught, who is apparently a master of 'one line comments to shut everyone around them up'. A new upcoming member of the Sororitas, I hope she goes far. It's nice to see the changes that are affecting people on the smaller scale. Nyx is becoming a better place to live for almots everyone. Oh Alphonsikas, you are getting a Come to the Emperor moment here, and if you don't take it you will not like what happens next. This continues to be amazing.

Antony444

Thanks for the compliments. And don't worry, the excitement isn't over. Next destination: Sicarus.

Antony444

So many questions...I will just say that for the moment the Cataphract is a non-Astartes tank. And the nine Chapter-limit doesn't involve the Dawnbreaker Guard. Obviously it isn't a Chapter...

Antony444

Thanks a lot, I think you beat your old record of post length with this one...

I feel like someone is bound to remark that there’s two of them now when Rylanor and Pierre meet up.

Anonymous

So is the new Gloriana going to be named Gatekeeper? How very Ghostbusters, seems appropriate.

3 custodes intercepted the chartist.... 3 custodes are supposed to be sent to nyx according to rhe captain general. I wonder if these are connected

frank schellingerhout

thx for the words as always loved the chat the emp had with sophia will be interesting to see her future adventure's those poor cog boys have to dismantle an armed virus bomb :D

Stormstar1995

Is the new Salamander chapter the Flame spider of the Magma Spiders, as Lord Inquisition Tor used both in his communication?

Antony444

Rylanor: don't speak nonsense. Rylanor is Rylanor. And there's only Rylanor. The Alpha Legion tried to copy me and failed.

Antony444

Mhh...that's an idea, but no, not enough impressive though it would describe its function very well.

Antony444

Yes, there are safer occupations for the Tech-priests...fortunately Rylanor is here to help (he was the one who armed it to prepare a hot surprise for not-Fulgrim).

Ok… that was a big ‘teaser’. Roughly, how much is left to do for the Interlude? So, we have Taylor and Khan getting along. Lamenters got created… temporary this time. Should we expect Chapters of Blood making a tradition of Chapters on Penance Crusade taking up this name? Rogue Traders… well, that was what you call refuge in audacity. And now we have Churchill in Ecclesiarch… Reign of Blood (or Terror) makes so much sense now. All this discussion among pilots, does it mean Nils didn’t get Moth Star? With over 200 kills? Strange. 77 Dawnbreaker Guards? Alert, search for Nurgle infestation!!! Or we can count Pierre as double! That way everything will be ok. And Forgefather entering the Guard? Well, seeing as Taylor is gifted in finding Vulcan’s relic, it’s understandable but… will there be new Forgefather? Well, if this Catachan General intend to visit his home before going to Nyx, there is good chance he will see a new landmark, recognise it and get very confused. So Imperium has Ansibles? First of all, I like the reference, always loved Rocannon's World. Second, Dragon must study it! And Weaver begun to gain weight in financial and merchant world as well. Chartists may also discover, that to impress this Sector lady you should use different means, than usual. Eye of Terror is as usual: everyone is killing, betraying and torturing each other. In one world, the civilised lifestyle is at its high. Malicia slowly gaining power… but gets enemies at much higher rate. And I can’t help, but being even somewhat happy for Bile… and it disturbs me. Greatly. So Bach may see his long lost loves again? Wonder if he decide to start his Trader career sooner that expected )) And I didn’t get the part with Cadia? Was it business as usual with Black Crusade expected? Or something related to all the recent craziness happened? Where so much dead cultists came from? Either way, it was great and I’m looking for more! As usual…

Boris Michenski

Oh, and a thing I forgot to mention: what was this destroyed psychic archeotech looking like music instrument near Rylanor? Somehow I can't get out of my head the idea that it's Taylor's mother's Flute.

Lex Kuzela

I'm not going to lie, I have never felt such kinship as with whichever brave pilot spoke up during Nils and Freya's drawn out, drama queen, belligerent foreplay. I was also mildly confused for a moment with the female rogue traders, as with the way the chapter was broken up, I thought that the one that Taylor healed was the one to strip down and prostrate herself, but I assume that was intentional. It could also just be that my brain decided to skip comprehension of some sentences. Lastly, that Catachan general might be in for a surprise once he gets to Nyx, depending on whether or not he sees that bigass statue of Taylor. It'd be really funny if he didn't know what she looked like, sees the statue on Catachan, gets to Nyx and does a double take when he meets his new boss. Also, Taylor got promoted. Again. Somehow, I'm not sure she'll be super happy about this, although it does mean she has less idiots above her to deal with. In addition, I don't know why, but Lady General, likely due to the speech patterns in English, just sounds somewhat condescending. I know that it's the actual title, but it just feels rude. Rylanor is here! I don't know much about him aside from what other in the forum have said, but just from the few lines he's had, he seems like a solid dose if crazy awesome. He should be an interesting influence in the new generation. I'll make another post after a re-read if I didn't grap everything. As always, amazing work, you fantastic, fanatical Frenchman.

Confused

Another wonderful chapter! Now while I have no doubt that the Nyx fleet will get a boost in ships and manpower I really doubt there going to get 10 new battleships. Not even Cadia has that many at any given moment!

Antony444

I think around 2/5 left to write at most, certainly a bit less than that.

Antony444

No, it was the sonic-psychic beacon Rylanor would have used to bat the Naga in another timeline.

Antony444

Yes, sometimes you have to take actions with the banter of these two...

Antony444

Thanks a lot for the compliments (apply also to all readers who commented previously) and no Cadia has more battleships in M41...if one just compares Navy vs Navy predictions. If all organisations are involved, Taylor wins handily.

Mackenzie Buckle

as always great writing, I'm so looking forward to Pierre & Rylanor meeting, on a side note I find it amusing that the day you post this, a song for Rylanor is also posted on youtube. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2Hb4bngxJ8)

The way the unrecognized chapters of the Fist decided to complain about the interference of the High Lords of Terra is also going to cause headaches to everyone involved, I expect that Chapter Master Jovius as well as the rest of the Second Founding of the IF are going to write one scary complain to the involved adepts. Not to mention the fact that the next Feast of Blades is going to be even more heavily disputed.

Forgottenone

Lord Commander Militant Paul von Oberstein was my fav this time around. You made feel like I was in his shoes juggling around all the Terra crap while trying to reward the victor without causing a blo... no even more of a blood bath. Best of luck walking your 12th dog. I will be honest I got lost when the High lords talked to each other had to reread to figure out who was who. That said amazing work and yes there a virus bomb you need to deactivate 1st LOL so hard when I read that part.

With Forgefather Vulkan N'varr joining the Dawnbreaker guard will he continue to wield the Artefacts of Vulkan?

Anonymous

I was under the impression that Taylor's hair was golden now, but you made reference several times to her having black hair.

Anonymous

It was golden but when she killed drahzar and got her wings it went black

Anonymous

Note that Jack Schwarz should be a lieutenant general if he was a colonel when he received the Star of Terra (3 rank promotion, rather than the 2 ranks the Ultima Honorifica granted Taylor)

Anonymous

Short answer is Nope, no way, not bloody likely, they WILL be kept at Nocturne until they are all gathered, remember that N'varr is NOT the overall Chapter master as it is now, Chapter Masters are not only leaders they are also figure heads for the Chapter proper, not least towards the rest of the IoM. so no, the Artefacts is going to be keptwhere there is less risk of them being lost again. By the way i KNOW where a further two of the Artefacts are hidden, they are even relatively easy to get to :-)
