Right, the map that was promised. The Imperium has abandoned Corespur to Slaanesh, retrenching itself in Zel'harst and the Port of Lost Souls. Xelian being quite dead now, the last three realms in beige have been seized by the remaining Craftworld armies, which joyously use the Drukhari population as cannon fodder against the humans and/or the daemonettes.

Old City, courtesy of the Queen of Blades has few things living in it anymore. Vect dealt the fatal blows to Low Commorragh and Sec Maegra himself. It will be interesting to see if the Chaos Eldar can deactivate the bombs Vect wants to use in the Bone Hiddens and the Hidden Blade before they blow up in their face.

Aelindrach is still ruled by the Mandrakes, though their population has decreased a lot in the last hours.

The Necron ground forces have retreated to Mar'lych, where they await the onslaught. Note that there are millions and millions of refugees, deserters and pirates running in sub-realms not shown in the map, the Webway around Commorragh is a chaotic mess never seen before the Fall, and the armies of Shaa-Dom have firmly decided that these problems have nothing to do with them and ran back home. To make it even better, there are plenty of Harlequins doing the most bloodthirsty and contrary things, and no one knows who or what is their objective.

Fun times.

It is 42 hours before the Mark of Commorragh, and the Dark City is not going to be able to survive much longer...

Well, the living space begin to lack in this (not) nice city! And to think little more than two days ago it was all Drukhari... And you wonder what Cegorath is up to... Well, he clearly supported idea of lifting Siege of Terra, otherwise why would one of not rebel Mask slow time in Middle darkness so to leave taylor act. Or he wanted her reach Core Gate for other reasons? By the way, if I'm not mistaken only Objective left is J, what ever prepared in Port to do bad things to Chaos and probably make the Mark. Does it means it will take over 40 hours to do? Or in reality Carribean will leave Dark City before the Mark?

Boris Michenski

Wait a minute... Mark Calth was when Ultramarines tried to annihilate Word Bearers. And Taylor did send some nice gift to them... Will Mark even happen somewhere around Dark City?! Or was it a magnificiet trap for us, poor naive readers?

Dale

Slaanesh don't realize it yet, but the Dark City's becoming dangerously unstable, and his forces are rather heavy. When the City implodes, it'll destroy everything caught in it's death throes, and likely leave Slaanesh PERMANENTLY the weakest of the Four. If it don't leave Slaanesh permanently dead *VEG*

Damnit man, why must you leave so many cliffhangers? Im about to explode in anticipation for 8.4, and you havent even started writing it yet! :)

Antony444

No, no the Mark will happen in the Dark City. What's going to happen to the Word Bearers is more a long-term development which will begin to be detailed next chapter and in the following interludes (Arc 8 and more).

Antony444

Cegorach preferred to lift the Siege of Terra yes. He's the enemy of Chaos (especially Slaanesh) who are a very nasty threat to his existence and the one of his own followers. And he knows that the Harlequins will never be first-priority of the Imperium. They are bigger threats to deal with, and the parts of the Webway where the Harlequins hide are particularly difficult to reach.

Antony444

Oh, the Dark Prince has realised it...but not the fullest extent. The problem is that by this point killing the Imperial forces and conquerring Commorragh is pretty much the only way to save something from this disaster. Turning back the Legions of Excess engaged there would be acknowledging defeat to mere mortals...and Slaanesh was born of the arrogance of a not-very-humble long-eared race...

Forgottenone

Did the bombs Vect set in High Commorragh not enough to wipe it out? Is Aelindrach still apart of Commorragh by this point? Yeah good luck stopping those bombs from going off, the very act of Vect trying to set them off would have let the Harlequins seers know they were their. I see a few Harlequins accepting death to burn legions of pink horrors. Great job with Vect you have the villain who was the gutter rat looking at the shiny spires who said I will one day be the man up top or not at all.

Random slightly off topic question; if any Aeldari slaves witness weavers fight with the queen of blades and somehow realize that her living through the duel makes her empress and then decide to be her follower how would weaver react? Edit: also how would the inquisition react to her holding a foreign political seat?

Guilherme Bezerra

I'm wondering how long this Arc gonna end up. Next chapter is the confrontation between the Swarm and Blades and I assume the war on Slanesh on Zelharst/Utar'ragh. After that a chapter regarding the space battle on the Port of Lost Souls and Pavia or are those going to be on the same update? So 8-4: Queen of Blades, 8-5: Mark of Commorragh and then Interlude ?

The awesome words continue. Praise to the Author.

Prediction: 30.6, Taylor ascends to the Golden Throne to Queen Administrate the universe

What I feel the Emperor would have said if he sensed Vect's demise: "For once in his existence, he showed good taste. He chose to go out in style."

Boris Michenski

You know, I think I just understood why Vista was declared taylor's heir and was left behind on Nyx... Because otherwise, once her ability becomes know she be immediatly kidnapped either by Trazyn for the museum, or by Lelith as "the best training/opponent" ever...And Taylor would be left in the dust...

Antony444

Trazyn, yes...but since he would possibly 'collect' every parahuman available if given the chance, that's not saying much. Missy vs Lelith Hesperax would end very fast, since the former has not a Sword of Vaul and the latter, as shown in 8-3, has easily a range of hundreds of kilometres if she feels like it. Vista's power is versatile, but not enough to fight a monster which can cut reality to the molecular level and beyond.

Ok, didn't see this mentioned, but.... Alpharius died at Pluto. It wasn't a gene-edited clone or whatever, it was Alpharius. There's a excerpt of Omegon taking up the title because he "felt" his brother die. So that entire thing with Dorn saying it was a clone is patently false. Now re-writing that he was searching for Omegon from the beginning would make more sense.

Antony444

What is fun with the Alpha Legion is that no one save the command force of the Alpha Legion (and sometimes not even them) have the slightest idea of the true history of the Alpha Legion. Dorn killed several clones later down the line, and the Loyal Legions slaughtered many 'Primarchs' during the Scouring. If the claims were additioned, the Twentieth would have been recorded with over thirty-plus Primarchs (evil grin).
