Christmas Update! (Patreon)

Happy Holidays and Merry Cold everyone! 

I have another strange update for you this week, since I took some time to complete a personal project that took me all week [ I was hoping it would take me less but.... alas ]

The personal project was a special picture that I draw every 8 years to check on my progress called 'Tempest'. I'll show you guys some progress updates and include a high rez version below!

So first up, here's the 16 year old and 8 year old versions of the pic:

So, this was my first planning sketch, which was more in line with the old versions:

But I wasn't happy with it, so I tried again:

I liked this version a lot better, it felt more dynamic! So I refined it. 

When I do my refined sketches, I like to use different colors to separate different parts, because back when I was working on TPOF, I used to get frustrated by complicated sketches, forgetting what details were supposed to be what LMAO

Next step was inking, which I did on stream! Inking is my favourite part- I find it very relaxing and enjoyable <3

Then came the flats, which are my LEAST favourite part LMAO, I just find them very boring and unrewarding... my pics always tend to look their worst when it's just flats.

This is also a good place to explain why I don't have color guides or character sheets for my characters. Lighting is very important to me in my work and it changes the base colors quite a bit. In this picture, Marten's skin and hair are rather dark- but it's just because of the mood and lighting of the art. [ He's a pale ginger ]

I just eyeball colors every time I draw. For better or worse LMAO

Another 16-ish hours of work later, and it's done! The pic took me all week, but I also did store work so it was probably about 30-35 hours of work all said and done?

I'll also include the full rez version as a download below, because I don't think Patreon lets you click on pics to blow them up [ if you're curious about details ] You can also print it out for personal use if you want [ but no selling obviously LMAO ]

Anyway, that's all I got this week- but next week I'm getting right back into the saddle with DLC work! However, I might have to get interrupted again on the 29th and 30th- I think my dakimakura shipment will arrive and I'll be busy with product photography, listing creation, and [ ughhhhh ] packing pit.
