Hello again friends! It is somehow Saturday again even though it's only been 5 minutes... am I the only one who feels this way?

It is indeed time for another Saturday update. As always, I've been chugging away at the backgrounds! I'm MOSTLY on schedule. I fell a little bit short on Friday since the setup process for the background ended up being really complicated, but I'll put in a little time this weekend to catch up.

Last week I finished a special indoor background for one of the endings in Derek's path and I've begun work on the camp background- the first one you'll see on his path.

The rocky landscape backgrounds were pretty much all the same process, look at reference, paint a rock, look at reference, paint a rock...

But for the indoor shot I wanted a room from my imagination so I started by making a base in the sims 4.

To get the size right for the bed, I had to shrink every item near it... a bit of a pain in the ass but worth it! I also had to get a bit creative and wedge a coffee table half into the rock wall to serve as a base for my eventual fireplace.

I'm proud of the finished version! I carved out a feature ceiling and fireplace by adding sketches over the sims base. Once I was able to paint my own colors and figure out the shading [ theres an area the sims is ZERO help with lmao ] I was able to make the room look quite ritzy and nice. The filename is actually 'bg_derek_theritz' LOL

And now the background I've started on Friday is using a combination of several different methods to get what I want.

I began by using photoshop's vanishing point tool to create a grid for the basic layout of the camp.

Then it was back to the sims for some camp-appropriate items. I ended up spending $20 to buy the sims 4 camping set... the fact I was able to do that is thanks entirely to you guys here on Patreon by the way, so THANK YOU VERY MUCH this background is dedicated to you- you bought these chairs and coolers and stuff LMAO

It took a few tries to get my screenshot at the right angle, but I managed to make it work!

Then, after some inking, I'm just about ready to rock :)

I just need to touch up the inks this weekend so I can color it on Monday.

Also, before I close out here, I realize now that I now have over ONE HUNDRED patrons... I can't believe it. I never thought I would get so much support for my work, I can't begin to thank you all enough. I'm so happy to be able to do this work and I will pour every ounce of my soul and love into this project in return!!!

Stay safe out there <3 And have a good weekend!
