BONUS Anime Comic: Neo-Tokyo - page 1 (Patreon)

It's a bonus, both because this is in addition to the coming Macross comics, and because I still haven't worked out for sure if these will be comic out on a weekly basis or not!  I've got four more pages penciled out, and I'm gonna try to at least ink & scan them all before the week is out.  I might just post the rest as soon as each page is done, like I did with this one, OR I might space 'em out in between the Macross comics.  Whichever one is less likely to bog down all the OTHER stuff I'm working on.

But anyway, NEO-TOKYO!  For those who don't know, this is an anthology movie partially helmed by director Rintaro... which came out just a few months after Robot Carnival, ANOTHER anime anthology from a whole bunch of famed anime directors OTHER than Rintaro.  I have never heard any actual evidence that there was any beef over him not being invited into the project, though I HAVE heard it rumored that the scared drunk guy in Robot Carnival's "Nightmare" segment was a caricature of Rintaro.  Make of THAT what you will.  Either way, I like the idea of all anime professionals being petulant children... because it's one hundred percent true.

Oh, and speaking of caricatures, I couldn't immediately Google a picture of Rintaro the director, so instead I drew a caricature of Rintaro Okabe from Steins;Gate.  My creative process at work.
